Hi everyone. I bought a 2013 GG txt 300 with the sachs rear shock. When I stand on it weighing 207lbs, the bike sags 3" and the pegs. When my 133lb wife stands on the bike the pegs are 2.5" down. One of my friends who weighs like 155 sags 2" on his bike. I know sus is supposed to be very soft but it feels way soft to me, the bike will not bunny hop. I am guessing my spring is too soft. I do not know what spring is on there but according to GG I should be on the +10 spring. Any thoughts or more accurate ways of measuring what it going on?

Being a bit of a tinkerer i decided to replace my Dellorto PHBL 26 with a Keihin PWK 28 on my 06 250 pro. I'd read a number of existing posts and decided i wanted some of the advantages on offer. I thought i'd summarise the results as i found them. Why Compared to mates Sherco's and Beta's my pro has quite a strong pickup, great for wheelies but not as good on loose cambers or slippery climbs. The other major reason was lack of confidence in the tickover during tight turns or steep drops. I often clutched more than necessary to avoid a stall. I was guessing that an overall richness was part to blame. Lastly... it was a pig to start (however this was improved partly by r…

Hi Guys, I got a few woes with my tired txt 2000 280. (1) Very bad clutch drag. I know it could be anything from master cylinder, to the clutch line, to swollen discs - Suggestions on the easiest diagnosis? (2) BRAND NEW Electric fan is intermittent. It started to overheat, and fan wasn't working, so I jumpered the thermostat in the field - still didn't work. Road the bike a bit, then it started to work. Drove more and it didn't. I guess its either the alternator, regulator, rectifier or the NEW FAN is busted. Suggestions on how to diagnose? (3) The kick starter does not return. I have to return it by hand, and it is a bit of a struggle to return it back to pos…

IMPORTANT! ALL "06 PRO OWNERS!! 24 Mar 2006 ALL "06 250/280/300 AND 125 Racing MODEL PRO CUSTOMERS WITH THE "SILVER OHLINS SHOCK" We have now had 7 x "06 ohlins shocks lose their damping. This is un-heard of with Ohlins but we have sussed the reason why; The 'service screw' on top of the shock is VERY close on some bikes to touching the frame. Because the topbush is rubber, under heavy use, the bush flexes and then the screw is damaged, then losing all the nitrogen. All "06 BIKES MUST BE CHECKED! Take off your airbox and you'll see the screw on top of the shock. If your screw has been touching then you need to; 1. Grind the frame away a little to give more cle…

Has anyone had problems with water getting into the oil on a 300 gasgas, Iv'e put 3 seals a new shaft, new shims, everthing but the body! Kev at gasgas looked at it, fitted new seals and impeller again, was ok for a day. Kev did say he thought the the mains were on the way out, so I did them. Iv'e had the bike just over a year it's a 04, it had had a hard life so I had to do a fair bit of work to it then, including a water pump seal, it has been ok untill now! I don't know a lot about trials, I only got into this as my 12 year old got interested, he has a 125 Beta, Iv'e done more road racing, we have a lot of fun, do a few trials, but Im loseing intrest, both bikes give s…

I seem to have got as far as one wire to it and have a yellow and a red left? any ideas

  10. I need to bleed and probably flush my 2013 TXT Pro 250 clutch line (engagement has become inconsistent after I looped it, so I think air got in there). The previous owner replaced the clutch (and brake) master cylinder caps by nice S3 anodized ones, which doesn't help in telling me what's in there. Is there a way to make a difference by looking at the fluid? And what's the best way to bleed these things? Push fluid through the bottom with a syringe? Thanks. DC

So my 2014 GasGas has developed a very annoying creaking noise which is very difficult to locate precisely. Even the slightest movement pushing down on the footrest makes it creak. It's definitely not a squeak and sounds more like dry plastic rubbing than anything else I've taken the rear shock out and the swinging arm moves up and down smoothly with no noise. Similarly the dog bones move freely with no noise. Thinking it could be the shock itself I've removed the spring but the piston shaft moves freely (with a firm push) with no noise (also had it refurbished about 2 years ago with little use since). What on earth could it be? Open to trying anything as its …

Hey all, started having a rather annoying problem with my 2010 Gas Gas Txt Racing. The bike is a 125, should this make any difference. Anyway - The bike will not start from cold on the kick start, I end up running down the road and bump starting it. I dont know whats causing this, but often, if I manage to finally kick her into life, she'll run as if choked for five minutes or so with lots of smoke. If I bump start her, it'll run fine. The bike is quite hard to bump start also, takes two or three attempts. The kickstart mechanism is not damaged atall, so it is delivering the normal stroke to the starter gears. The bike kickstarts when warm easily. So far, I have put …

  13. Hi guys I have a strange problem with my 2012 Gas Gas TXT 280. The first time I engage first gear after starting / warming the bike up the clutch engages immediately sending the bike lurching forward. No matter what I do with the clutch lever it stays engaged for say 10 - 15 seconds then it will start working and the clutch disengages drive. Obviously its a bit of a nightmare as not being able to stop is a bit sketchy! After the first time the clutch is faultless for the rest of the ride. I use Putoline Light Gear Oil if that helps at all. This happened ever since I had the plates replaced. I've just had another workshop look at it and they did the clutch mast…

Hi Guys, Anyone ride or rode a GASGAS TX270 (2001)????? I'm about to buy one as my 1st bike, I've had bikes before, so not brand new to bikes - but it's been a while! Looking for advice please on the followng points; 1.) Is this ok for a begginer/novice, or too powerful? 2.) What is the maintenance schedule for such a bike, should I be changing the oil every ride?? 3.) If, in the experts opinion this bike is too powerful for a begginer, what would be a good alternative? 4.) Finally, the bike I'm about to buy is a 2001 model in good condition with light use, do you thing

I currently have a problem with my ohlins shock on my gasser 300 racing 2010 model. I took the old rose joint bearing out the bottom threaded end of the shock as it was pretty knackered ( the larger of the two bearings) and sourced a new bearing for it. When the new bearing arrived i could push it through the eye with my fingers! Ive since put the old bearing back in as at the time i couldnt source a new one but have since found that the shock is moving and pushing out the bearing. I now need to somehow get the bearing replaced or shocker body sorted. My questions are Has anyone else had this problem and have you found a solution? What is the correct procedure for in…

I am posting this here in the hopes that it prevents someone else from the same frustration I went through... .and also to help dispel the myth that the Formula brakes are crap because they`re not, necessarily. But they are certainly getting a bad rap. Let me start by saying I`ve been optimistic about these brakes from the beginning - I always though the AJP stuff was in need of an update and in particular hated the plastic lever bushes and the reach adjustment. So along comes the formula stuff with a proper monoblock caliper (current state of the art for racing, prevents caliper flex by eliminating the need to `split` the caliper into halves) and an ingenious reach adju…
