Hey all, I have a 2008 Raga rep txt280. It ran fine for quite a while after I bought it and then slowly got harder to start. It now will not start at all? I did have a problem a while back where it looked like water got into the oil but I did not lose any water so I assume it was due to washing? So far I have pulled and cleaned the carb thoroughly, pput in new piston and rings. The old piston had nipped up . Must have been like this when I bought it as it has not nipped up on me? I cleaned up the bore and put all together. I have checked that the woodruff key slot is at twelve oclock when the piston is at top dead centre. Seems ok. Checked reeds and they looked fin…

I just bought a 2003 gas gas 2003 280 pro I knew it had shifting problems, it drops into neutral when I’m riding then it’s difficult to get back into gear I usually have to shut the bike off roll it around and it usually finds a gear, I’m in the process of checking the adjuster behind the clutch, the clutch removal isn’t going as planned the 4mm bolt in the centre of the clutch seems to have stripped threads I turned it out with no problems and I can’t get the bolt out the clutch hub moves out about 1/4 inch and that’s it the bolt just spins, and also when I removed the clutch cover a piece fell out that I can’t find where it came from, it just seems to have fell out beca…

Ive been playing on my brothers 04 Raga rep (Nice 1st modern trials bike ) And its so easy to do stoppies on it, i have an 05 280 and its not as easy on mine, The front forks seem to dampen too much and the rear shocker seems to too (in my novice opinion), and i think the fluid needs changing in my front brake. -- now is it easier on the raga because of the ohlins shocker on the rear ? and some change in the front ??? -- can i make mine more like it by: - Bleeding the front brake to change the fluid - Change the fork oil ( using less oil?? suggestions?) -- OR ADJUST THE REBOUND OR COMPRESSION ?? - reducing the adsorbtion on the rear,.... .... or it aint gunna ha…

Hi, Just acquired a clean '05 250 Pro, it's lovely but the clutch rattles in neutral. Oil level seemed a little low but topping up has made no difference. Gear change is a tad notchy, but I expect that. No slip or drag on the clutch at all, it works perfectly. I just thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas before I take the cover off. Whilst writing, who likes which oil, and how much of it? Thanks in advance for taking the trouble to reply. Cheers, Trevor

My bike is a gasgas raga 2011 300cc and the problem is the clutch has suddenly gone solid. I've never changed the oil since I've bought this bike and the oil level was way to slow so I decided to drain it and replace it with castoril ATF dex ii. I didn't start the engine before I drained it but I'm sure I got all the old oil out and I have put less than enough of the new oil in and then decided to feel the clutch lever and it was just solid. Can anyone help? By the way, the clutch was in great condition before I changed the oil and the lever wasn't hard at all. Thanks!

Hi, Looks like I got caught out, my Montesa 4RT could be an '05 when it was sold as an '07, people are telling me the 10th digit on the frame no equals the year. Got an '05 TXT Pro as well (and prefer it!). Anyone know how to identify my TXT Pro from the frame number? All the grahics are right, but I'm getting paranoid now. Hanging is too good for some people, but I suppose it's 'buyer beware' and all that. Cheers and happy trialling.

Hi All, Id like to start with a big thank you to everyone who helped me with my fan not working issue, it was the switch in the radiator :-) My 05 GG 125 TXT PRO is ridden by my teenage daughter. At the moment, she is becoming more ambitious and taking the odd fall. If she falls to the right, onto softish ground, the grey Renthal grip which is on a Domino throttle assembly get pushed up the handlebars from its normal position. This then has the effect of pushing the end of the grip into intimate contact with the end of the handlebar. So the throttle effectively loses it ability to spring closed with the friction between the inside end of the bar grip and the bar …

So I replaced the kickstart gear + idle gear as they were pretty mangled. When re-fitting though, when I tighten up the crankcase the kickstart gets super stiff to kick over, and will only flip back up if the crankcase is loose. I've wound the spring fairly tight to make sure it flips up as easily as possible, but as soon as the crankcase is tight at all, the shaft just gets really hard to move round. Obviously the crankcase needs to be tight otherwise the oil leaks out... Any help would be appreciated.

Right then a problem seems to have cropped up. When the bike (280 pro) is cold it's very very hard to start, sometimes impossible. When I check the plug it's dry and looks like it running on the lean side, if I put a bit of petty in the cylinder it starts right up and runs fine, when I turn it off it can be hit and miss if it starts again but a drop of fuel in head works? I've not had the bike long and it was like it had never been off road when I got it, the little yellow paint Mark on the gear oil filler had never been broken and the clock said it had only done 14 hours. Now this is the thing and my worry. I put 80 ml of oil to 5 litres but don't ride 100% trials, I d…

Greetings all, I am new to this trials stuff, and have located a 2010 Gas Gas 280 pro to use as a first trials machine. It looks to be in good condition and is from a local trials club. In my research, I have found mixed opinions as to the use of this as a first bike. I have been on dirt bikes/off roading, and many street miles since 1972 so I hope there will be some cross over to trials. I am looking for some know how here to advise if this is a good starter or if there might be something else I should consider. Thanks.

Hi Guys, Tried out this gas gas tx 270 I got the last day, so I brought it to the hill for its frist spin after getting it a few days ago, and under heavy load (driving on steep part of hill for 10mins in 3rd gear) it cuts out, and if i try to start it, it backfires! so i leave it for 2mins and it starts fine take off and after driving up the steep part for another 10mins it cuts out again! leave it to cool or few mins and it fine! any ideas? i have only done a few basic things since i got the bike, oil change, carb strip, air filter check and cleaned out the tank and put my own fuel mix in. bike seems to be running fine otherwise! one thing I have spotted is the coolin…

My kickstart shaft seal keeps coming loose and leaking transmission fluid. I'm not sure what the deal is. It's a new(ish) seal and has consistently done this - is it normal? It happens when kicking it over. It's almost like the kickstart shaft has some play and it's wiggling the seal out. Any ideas for keeping it in there? Some silicon?
