I feel like I should have wrapped my head around this, but I'm struggling. I pulled the 2012 gasser 280 out this morning , before ride I noticed milk coloured oil. Impeller, seal and shaft have been done within the last 40hrs. I changed the oil, still milky and rode for maybe 15mins, noticed the fan not coming on. After the ride I jumped the fan to a spare battery, it works great, testing the thermostat, it seems to always have resistance and isn't opening, put it in boiling water, no click and no real changes in resistance. So... I would say bad thermostat, but could this overheat coolant into the oil? or do I have multiple issues? Or am I missing something! FYI it is ov…

We have an 03 model 250 Pro and if its ridden in a wet or muddy trial the airbox starts to fill up with muddy water. We have used duct tape and applied silicon to try to help but it doesn't keep much out. I know they are known for this but our older 02 Pro had a different and much better airbox. Does anyone know of any worthwhile mods or if the 04 Pro has a better airbox and if it can be fitted to the 03? Thanks, Eiger.

I'm hoping to view one of these this weekend, with a view to purchase. Are there any known problems with this model that I should look out for?

Factory replica 14. Lad dropped my bike on gearlever and stopped bike straight away. No strange noises. It now has a gear lever that moves up and down with no restriction. The kickstart is also tight. I've took head off piston and barrel fine. I was thinking some of gear shaft broken and jammed it up some how. Any advice very welcome

Hi there just wondering if anyone can help me with this. I have a 2002 Gas Gas txt pro which has a V5 so I have a number plate for it and technically it could go on the road. Although I can’t for the life of me see how it would get through an MOT. Did these bikes come with indicators and brake lights originally. I’ve had a look at a wiring diagram for the bike and it just shows one wire that it says to cut if you want to remove the lights Any help with this would be grand thanks

I started the bike on choke on the second kick as I always do, flicked off the choke....rode off for 30 secs then turned off whilst I waited for a mate. Then I tried to restart the bike with/without the choke on and it wasnt having any of it. not even bump starting. I checked & cleaned the spark plug when I got home and put back in but it still wouldnt restart. I am leaving it and hopefully it will start tomorrow. Does anyone know why this happened, what did I do wrong and why wouldnt it restart? Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

hi everyone just wondered if you could help, ive got a 2006 gg pro 250 and the clutch feel is extremely hard to pull in and let out to the point where its giving me pain in my arms and cramp even after riding just one section. the thing is ive replaced the clutch pack and re measured that and its fine and also had a full new set of seals and o-rings in because i thought that may be the problem. how do i get the clutch so its light again without spending hundreds of pounds on it?? ive been told a bigger bore clutch pipe and larger master cylinder and piston but would these really help at all?? any ideas on what could be the cause of this extremely heavy clutch ive tried…

Hi, i just bought a Gas Gas TXT pro 300 raga. It has been a bitch to start since i got it with me really having to jump on it to get the thing turned over. The worrying is though i drained the gear oil the other day and found 3 or 4 shards of metal attached to the magnet. These were not the normal filings found but bigger pieces maybe 3mm x 1mm the biggest one. Im hoping that it maybe just of the kickstart (pawl gear maybe) mechanism wearing from all all the abuse it gets from me trying to start it. But im no mechanic, can someone advise what to do or do i have a major problem. I will be draining the fresh oil in the next few days to see if there is anymore **** in …

Just picked up this bike. Seems to have a knocking / plonking sound when the revs fall after it has been revved. It doesn't get it at idle or on the increase of revs. It appears just before the revs fall close to idle after high revs. Just put new petrol in and drained old petrol out of tank. I'm just going through the bike before I take it out for its first spin. Any ideas what this knocking is ? Air mixture? Air leak ? Or mechanical noise ?

Hi lads, Got my bike out today for first time in ages and there is a problem with the clutch, basically when I pull the leaver nothing happens. If its in gear and I pull it in the wheel is still locked, and if I have it running and knock it into gear it just goes but the clutch still doesn't work, tried going through all gears and rocking it etc to free it up but nothing. Have given it a little ride (best I can in garden) but still won't work. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi, I need some advice please. My bike is running extremely rich. It is an immaculate, extremely low hours, 2013 125cc TXT Pro. It is still on its first tyres and chain! The bike was / is immaculate and when I first bought it three months ago several experienced club members tried it and assured me it was a very good one, one expert tried some serious climbs on it! You could easily believe it is three months old. I have been riding it regularly for about three months and it became difficult to start, first I assumed I was struggling with technique and this forum helped with that. I clean and oil the air filter every trial. I have changed the gea…

Just picked up a new to me 05 Gas Gas TXT Pro 300... Few questions... I just noticed it has a blown base gasket (cyl base) on the left side... Is this common? its a VERY low milage bike still has original tires on it with decent tread left. what is involved in changing the base gasket? same as any other 2 stroke, or are there extra parts etc in there? Does the CD that comes with the bike have torque specs (dont have it with me right now or id check) if not where to I obtain torque specs for the bike (cyl nuts etc).. thanks guys -Dave

Hi fellow users , i'm having a problem with my TXT. I'll try and scetch what happens. When i go and play on my nearby mountainbike paths (aprox an hour or 1.5 hour length) , my bike cuts out. Just no fire... Sometimes 2-3 minutes after refueling , sometimes from the moment i leave (filled gastank 5 minutes prior to that).. And ONLY when i'm on the public roads , riding at 60KPH constant throttle, the moment i let go of the trottle... Never when i'm riding in the woods. It feels like i'm out of gasoline , but sometimes 2-3 minutes after refueling. Things i've tried/done : -Changed the tank's tube on top (to prevent / fix a blockage , so there is no vacuum) -Ch…

Hello all. First post here. I am picking up a 2017 280 TXT later this week. It’s been ridden by a club pro level rider the last couple of years and It’s in pretty good shape all things considered. I’ve been doing a lot of reading on here but had a couple questions: fan - it’s still working but it appears all 4 bolts that mount it to the radiator have stripped out. It’s now just wedged in there. I don’t think it’s going anywhere - but is there a way to drill out and re tap or do folks just go to zip ties if this happens? starting - it’s a bear to start - any tricks or tips here? The current owner claims if you really snap your kick and give it a bit of gas…

Apologies I know this is most likely a stupid question... I'm changing the oil in the forks, I have started with the right side rebound leg, is there anything else I need to do other than set the correct oil height? Do I need to do anything with the damper circuit? Then I guess same question with the compression side? I have read all the posts here on the topic but am still a bit confused, I have the document from the hell team also but still don't fully understand if the complex bleeding applies to me if I'm just replacing the oil in the lowers. Thanks in advance. Gary

I fell off today and the throttle housing turned, I went to tighten it and looks like the nut has pulled through the plastic so it wont. I guess I cant get away with just a throttle top, so how do I know if it was a fast or slow throttle? Also am I better going for a slow if I dont find out? I also caught my knee on the fuel cap and broke of the breather. I tried to get out what was in there so I could maybe put a new one in - but its broke clean and I even tried putting a self taper in to pull it out with no luck. Does this mean a whole new cap then? I was only trying to practise
