One for the cognoscenti, maybe........ Does anyone have any thoughts/experience regarding improving the longevity/durability of sleeve gear bronze bushes ? This applies to models 27/49 and 80 with 14mm. mainshaft nose (bushes #111.047) and later models 91/92 with 15mm. shaft (bushes #48.11-047). I've dismantled a number of engines each of which shows wear to these bushes, characterised by a step in the outer bush bore, where it overhangs the end of the mainshaft. I have to wonder if there is a particular reason for the bushes to be fitted flush to the outer end of the sleeve gear, or whether it was simply a matter of production expediency..…

  11. Hi, I have a Model159 Sherpa. I would like to fit a Sammy Miller (Feked.com) middle silencer. Does anyone know where I could buy a front pipe to suit that silencer? My own front pipe is in poor condition. I saw a Model 92 front pipe on Inmotion's website and emailed them to see if it could be used. i got a message back to say it would not fit.

Hello, I've decided to replace the original Amal on my M116, 325 Alpina with a Mikuni and have bought one from In-Motion, along with the manifold. I have just tried to fit it and there isn't room for the retaining nuts at the two studs are practically touching the rubber manifold. I thought I'd ask in case anyone else has found the same problem and how they resolved it. I suppose I could cut the rubber away but don't really want to do this in case I damage it too much! Also, should I keep the original rubber carburettor spacer or remove it as the new manifold is rubber? If that is the case, I assume I will need a paper gasket between the new manifold and th…

I have had my Alpina 138 since new and for my first retirement project I am going to refurbish it. Would like to put an electronic ignition with lighting coil and hopefully use the stock flywheel. What would be your recommendations for such a unit? Reliable and easy install would be nice. Thanks, Mark

  17. Sherpa 175 Model 221 Swing Arm and Rear Wheel Issues My rear wheel is offset about 17mm to the right in the swing arm. The wheel spindle is parallel to the S/A spindle. Maybe the whole swing-arm is bent to the right? Maybe the rear wheel has been re-laced and the offsets are not correct. Left wheel offset 40mm from sprocket mounting face. Right Wheel offset 35mm from hub edge. What's going on?????

Just recently completed restoration of my model 85 Alpina I purchased new back in 1974. Did a lot of dirt bike riding back in the 70s and 80s before it was put into storage for nearly 25 years. Took a lot of photos as I went along so I could get it back original. Engine fired on the forth kick and runs great. Head light and tail light both work as before, however the brake light doesn't function when operating the rear brake pedal. Bulbs and brake switch are new and check out using a volt-ohm meter. Have attached a wiring diagram of how my bike is wired. Could someone please review the diagram and see if I have missed something or wired it incorrectly. Any other suggesti…
