hi about to drain clutch and gearbox oils on bultaco sherpa 91 model, how much to put back in and best brands of oil thanks in advance for replys, took bike on road for first time to get day mot but had trouble getting high gears seems to skip gears or very close together like took to highest gear i could get but felt like still in 2nd or 3rd over revving, stupid question but it is 1 down 4 up, being used to road bikes for too long,

hi all im trying to get to the bottom of my leak ive changed all seals on the clutch side because the clutch oil has been geting throw some how. this i dont no all the seals lookt ok apart from the o ring behind clutch basket so ive put new seals in all round the clutch side the leak i had was on the front sprocket end drive it only came to light when i draind the gear box oil. and noticed it was red. can anybody help? cheers chris

This is from an old magazine dated May 1974.I thought it might be of some interest although I realise many of you might already know of the mods.My pics didn,t turn out the best,but I thought the steering head angle mod was of interest.I wonder how much it was pulled back?The only other change from stock was a set of girling shocks.

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a way to tell if my rear shocks are rebuildable. I don't know much about them. I have an m49 model ending in 00976. Assuming they're stock. I'd like to not have to invest in a new set for cost purposes. But I may have to. It's it hard to rebuild these? Thanks

Hi, I am new to this forum. So here is my first post. I have just bought a 1978 Alpina 350 model 213: with the plan of using it for trail riding here in France. The fuel tank is glassfibre and is already suffering from Ethanol degradation. I am thinking of fitting a new tank. My questions are: Can i get a larger tank? Can I fit a larger tank? Will a Pursang tank fit? Are plastic tanks Ethanol resistant? Looking forward to your advices. Sea Kayaker

hello guys looking for some advice on a 198A frame am restoring into the same same colour as a 198 Question is do i powder coat or 2 pk? the bike will only be for show and some road work in summer times. so no mud hear. also any 1 know the colour red for the 198? cheers bondy.

hello everyone,I will try to be clear (my english is not so good). I have a brand new pre jetted mikuni vm26,needle clip is in 2nd position,new ignition stator(wich comes from a 175 lobito,I believe they are the same but is it ok?) 2.4mm advance timing.new piston rings ( stock bore). The bike doesnt run fine and has no power in low rpm in the first 1/4 of throttle.(a bit like a motocross).idle seems to be good,bike starts good 2nd or 1st kick. I would like to know what are the measurements/size of the intake manifold for a 199 (cylinder side not carb side),and what could be the cause of a bad reving. Thanks a lot for your answer.

Need new fork springs - current springs are do not know type (one is slightly longer, and have a valve spring squished in as well) They also top out at full extension. Being only 63kg (about 8 and a bit stone) should i go with the sherpa or the pursang springs. And also can anyone comment on non-leading axle pursang fork bottoms or fitting Alpina triple clamps please?

Hi I'm in the process of restoring a 198 t 1978 . I've been offerd a swing arm for it . The arm has a chain oiler drip screw in it my question is was this Pacific to the year of bike or were they an optional add on extra at the time ?

A couple of people have asked about the fold out lever I have fitted to my Sherpa 198A that was for sale (now sold!) and I promised to post some photos and quick description of how I made it. Its not an original or expensive remanufactured one, but a right hand pivot lever with 13mm diameter splines (the Bultaco shaft size) that I found on eBay for £13 - allegedly Honda derivative but I can't confirm as it seems a pretty cheap copy. Basically I removed the lever from the splined boss (circlip) and simply filed away the metal to form a curved profile matching the opposite side allowing the lever to pivot both ways. Hi all. Been collecting parts for my M92 project. I thought I had got a suitable rear wheel and brake plate, but now that I've checked I've got mismatched parts. The hub came from an m92, apparently, but it has bearing holders at 41.8mm ( must be for 42mm od bearing) and the bearing id seems to be 15mm. I have a brake plate that takes a 17mm spindle and I have a 17mm spindle that is about 260mm total length, with the 17mm section for 220mm of the length. The swinging arm is from an m92 frame and it has spindle slots with a height of about 17mm. If I measure it from the outside of one spidndle slot to the other it comes to about 195mm. Ok, guys ive now installed a new ign side crank seal, im sure the clutch side seal should be ok as 1, the bike dosen't smoke excess, 2, the bike starts 1st or 2nd kick! BUT ive still got a problem with the lower end of the rev range! the bike idles for a very short while then dies! but the revs dont pick up well as in you have to throttle it lts to keep the revs up and stop it from dying! and have to give it loads of revs to pull away! the mid and top ends good and it will really get a move on when needed! ive cleaned out the carb , jets etc! the vent pipe on the tank clear, new s/plugs gapped and fitted! fresh petrol added! the timings not been checked as …
