Trials Gear

Questions or comments on Clothing, Boots or Helmets? This is the place!

  1. Started by heffergm,

So trials pants appear to be sized using S, M, L, etc. I haven't a clue where I fit in the range, since it's (presumably) all relative. And since I cannot try anything on (there isn't a place that sells trials clothing within multiple hours of me) I need some help on what size to order. Height: 5'10" / 1.8 meters Weight: 140lbs / 10 stone / 63 kilos Any suggestions?

  2. Started by charlie chitlins,

OK...my red, white and blue "Captain America" Alpinestars from the 80's finally gave up, and my spares are too clapped out to wear. I crashed, ripped off a sole and broke a toe. I've always got used boots before...this is my very first pair of NEW trials boots. The Novogars look good for the money...as in, they're the cheapest. Got the "carbon" look...very cool. My feet are 8.5 EE or EEE, almost as wide as long with very high instep and arches. I got the 43 (about 9.5) and they're a tad snug in the width, but I walked around in them for awhile and they now feel super comfortable. I had to let the lowest strap WAY out so I could buckle it. The soles are WAY stiffer…

Hi there anyone know of someone who repairs trials boots ? the front of the sole has come apart on my gaernes (they are a year old and had very little use) - I think I've caught the very front on a rock and ripped the stitching. ive tried local cobbler but he said he couldn't do anything ? I'm in north east but don't mind posting if anyone can help cheers john

Someone has offered to pay £150 towards some boots for me for Christmas so anyone have anything good or bad to say about the boots below or any other choices? I'm happy adding another £50 so anything between £150-200 would be ideal. Hebo Tech EVO Hebo EKO EVO Gaerne Balance Classic Forma Boulder Or anything similar, currently leaning towards the Gaerne Balance Classic in Black. I did try adding links to all of the boots but apparently the Admin do not allow that?!

I currently have the gaerne oiled boots, such a comfy boot, but after a good soaking they become extremely soft and i nearly ripped my little toe off at the reeth, so has anyone tried the standard gaernes? Are they a little tougher when wet?

  7. Started by robarnold,

I've had a pair of SIDIs around six months, seriously impressed with their comfort but after only about four months the sole of both boots started separating from the front and one section broke away completely. Sent them back to Feridax who said that it was crash damage (can't remember the exact wording but words to that effect) and didn't constitute a warranty claim but they agreed to resole them for a fee and send them back. Ive used them about four times since their return and the EXACT same thing has started to happen on both boots again. Has anyone had similar experiences. Trials boots should be more robust than this, surely?!

  8. So, I've been into classic green laning for a while on my Royal Enfield and as some of you know I've only recently bought a Montesa Cota 247 classic trials bike, I've taken it down some lanes but am yet to go to a trial with it. I will be going in a few weeks. So, I was wondering if for now my existing gear is OK? I have a budget open face road helmet that I use down the lanes, it's similar to this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VIPER-RS-04-PLAIN-OPEN-FACE-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-SCOOTER-MOPED-CITY-CRASH-HELMET-/400320783636?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Helmets&var=670043912026&hash=item5d34fa6514 And I have some old black road motorcycle boots that I wear on dryer gentler l…

Does anyone know who stocks and sales 'Boot Buddy' in the UK or by mail order? I have seen a few guys with them and now want a pair. It looks like a elasticated cover that goes over the boot top and riding trousers to stop all the mud and crap going down your boots. The ones I've seen have been red with Boot Buddy UK * USA in white lettering. I asked the guys who had them and they got them at a show but need to know a supplier. Did try Goggling it but to no avail.. Any help much appriciated.

Hi there everyone, I bought a pair of Hebo Eco 2 boots in June 2012, by October they had fallen apart, 4 months is not acceptable for thier cost in my book, considering what they are suposedly designed for. Has anyone else had this problem? At the moment the dealer does not want to know so I have taken it back to the importer but they are not really interested. If there are others out there with the same problem maybe something will get done about it.

I could do with a new crash helmet, I like the idea of the Shoei TR3 as I use Shoei on my road bikes and they've saved my life in the past. But 1050 grams sounds a little heavy for trials? The Hebo Zone 4 Carbon is listed as 950g, albeit that's got a carbon fibre shell. Anyway, what do you guys recommend? A removable / washable liner is going to be an important factor, I'm quite sweaty ?

Has anyone outthere tried a goldentyre front tyre and what was it like? I need an new front tyre for a Scorpa SY 250 and would like to try a Goldentyre as IRC tyres are hard to get in Holland. I am a novice and overhere we ride on sand and mud most of the times.

All, I wanted to ask what boots provide the best shin protection, I had a serious leg injury a few years ago and need boots that offer the best shin protection.

  19. I decided I'd better carry a spare kill switch magnet cap in case the worst happens at an inopportune time. $25 for a new one, or fire up the CAD, borrow a mate's 3D printer and bingo. If anyone cares to print more it is available on Thingiverse: Magnetic Stop / Kill switch top Leonelli Apico Jitsie I tweaked the design a bit so a bootlace fits through the hole, avoiding the tiddly bit of string. Also included a bead to tighten the lanyard on your wrist. Common 10 x 5mm disc magnet (approx $1) slips in and just melt the lip to hold it. I found melting the surfaces of the lanyard and squashing them together made a solid & neat join.

Snow falling outside and my hands always feel the cold no matter how much enthusiastic I'm feeling. ....always fancied some neoprene trials gloves. I understand they won't keep my hands dry but will keep the wind and cold out. I'll probably go for a pair of Wulfsports as I've always their gear to be great value, well made and durable. would welcome some advice....ohh some help on sizing.....I usually have a large size. PS I've got some X-acting waterproof trials gloves but they are sooooo thick and chunky I cant even use them for enduros.
