  1. Started by alik,

I have fantic motor 268 80cc junior trials bike from about 1986. It is mono shock with drum breaks which were only made for a short time, not sure when though. I am looking to make it road legal but i am not sure whether i need to do any importation paperwork, as far as i am aware it has been in the uk since new and it has no paperwork and has not previously been registered. does anyone know if i would need to go through the import process before i register it? Ali

Hi everyone, I have a Montesa 247 reg PWV 31H purchased back end of 2016. The reg is not know to DVLA so I have to complete form V55 and also suggest completing a V765 and endorsed by the Owners Club to validate the information on the form. Can any help as to whom I can turn to in order to complete this form. I live in the Consett area in the North of England. The bike itself appears to have an interesting past originally purchased in 1969 by Stewart Wiggins and some association with the Laurence Telling who purchased Montesa 247 PWV48. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Mike.

There is a very strange issue with this forum (but only this forum) where, if a topic title contains the word "register", "registering", or "registered" then it takes you to the site sign-up page. I am looking into this, but it's a really wierd one. Johnnyboxer - I've temporarily hidded your NOVA topic till I get to the bottom of this. Tried to PM you, but Inbox full.

  10. The last few years I have insured my road legal trials bikes with specialist insurance companies that provide cover during a competition on the road. Most std bike insurance exclude this. With the ACU now providing insurance to cover the Road Traffic Act requirements as part of the entry fee is it necessary to go with the specialist firms or is standard road cover ok for TPF&T when not competing and for cover when going to a trial and when at home. Difference is about £140 per year so worth considering. Any thoughts or experiences

  11. Hi, I have a 1972 Bultaco Alpina 250 nearing completion of restoration. It was imported to the UK from the USA about 4 years ago ( it's original export destination from Spain). I have matching engine and frame numbers. I will shortly be going through the process of getting it road registered and i understand if I can show to DVLA evidence of the original age corroborated by the manufacturer or an established owners club, i can get it registered with a 1972 number plate. Can anyone please help point me in the right direction of finding a source that can help ? thanks

I'm looking for a horn that will pass an mot. I ordered what I thought would be sufficient off tinterweb but it was rejected as it wasn't a single tone constant. Can anyone recommend a particular one to get as opposed to just suggesting a battery powered horn.

  13. Hi All, Just after some advise on the current situation and if anyone had been in the same situation as myself. I had a Bete Evo 300cc 2015 Trials bike stolen in September 2016, this was insured through a well known high street insurer. When insured the trials bike I explained that it was for off road use and had no v5 or any road lights. Plus also no key for ignition. The trials bike was used for off road practice and competition. When the trials bike got stolen I went through the general routine ie informing police, issued with crime number and also informing the Insurance company. A few weeks the later the claim was successful and paid the near full am…

Hi, Need a little advice if possible. I have a 349 Cota which I've had for a few years now and have decided that this year I'll get the bike finished. It's still in bits but I've contacted Sandifords for an age related certificate which they cannot issue now due to not being authorised by HMRC. Can the bike be registered without this document? I don't know if the bike was ever registered as there were no documents supplied with the bike when I bought it. I'm pretty sure it's a Mark 1 349 from the engine and chassis numbers, probably late 1979 early 1980. The numbers are: 51M 18186. I would prefer an age related registration number rather than a Q plate if possible. …

A bit of a whimsical question really. I was watching the video of the Scottish trials and there was some main road riding between venues. I was just wondering how far a field people have been on the road, to or between trials?

Hello Just after some advice. Pretty much getting there with the registering my Yam TY175. On the case with NOVA, have a dating letter from Yamaha etc. Just completing the V55/5. As trials bikes are exempt from type approval, can I leave all the boxes that say 'get this information from the certificate of conformity' blank? Or is certificate of conformity something completely different? Wheelbase, Mass etc? Thanks for your help. Cheers Dave
