Hi does anyone know what the age is before the SACU allow young riders to start riding four strokes, or do you have to have a bike license first, which is another point. How do you get a bike license? thanks

Hi All, I just purchased a Beta Sincro but because it is a new model, insurance companies haven't listed it yet. The bike is road registered and DVLA were happy to take my road tax payment immediately even though I can't use it on the road. Any thoughts please? Naturally I am particularly anxious to have the bike insured against theft if nothing else.

Evening all. In an attempt to make my Sherco 100% road legal I have fitted a speedo to keep Mr and Mrs Plod happy. It's just one of those mountain bike ones from that ever popular auction site - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIGITAL-CYCLE-MOUNTAIN-RACER-BIKE-DIGITAL-WIRELESS-SPEEDO-COMPUTER-SPEEDOMETER-/290960376715?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&hash=item43be97038b#ht_2800wt_1141 Has anyone else fitted one of these? It does work, after a little modification to the little magnet...motorbike spokes are a little bigger than mountain bike ones...but it does read a little erractic. There is a chart to allow you to insert a code based on the wheel size. This chart doesn't…

Hello all. Just wanted to share a bit of info with regards insurance. I have been looking to insure my Sherco 290 (road registered) once I completed my bike licence. I called all the various 'speacialist' companies whos names crop up around these parts when you search for insurance guidance. All in all it was a pretty dissapointing experience up until this week. The company I was most dissapointed with was Carol Nash. The chap I spoke to was rather aggressive in his manner and I certainly didn't expect to be in a rather heated debate with someone about the bike, considering I was trying to give them business.....anyway.....back to topic, here are some stats - Age - …

Does anyone know of an insurer who will insure a bike on the frame number for a short period to register the bike. When it is registered I will be able to put on a classic policy with other bikes but they will not insure on the frame number only. I know C Nash will do it on the frame number but I don't want a 12 month policy with them. Thanks...

  13. I'm restoring a Bultaco Sherpa 198A which is already road registered with V5 now in my name and being over 40 years old eligible for historic status. However, to apply for historic status the bike has to be insured. When I enquired whether Bikesure my current bike insurance / broker company would add the Sherpa to my multi-bike policy, they said yes as long as the bike had a speedo fitted and asked for me to just send them photographic proof. Seems a bit strange as I didn't think this was a requirement for an MoT etc. but just wondered if anyone else had this experience? And as Bultaco speedo's and drives seem rare and expensive, if a simple wireless cycle speedo wo…

My old Tiger Cub has been in my possession for 31 years , however when I moved out of my family home 25years ago, I couldn't find the log book, but as I only did the odd trial, and the Christmas engine run up with my Dad (RIP). I wasn't overly bothered , however while going through documents after we lost Mum, I found the original Log book in my name , So I sent it off to the DVLA, with covering letter .... Much to my surprise I have had a two month correspondents ping pong, even having to Photograph the frame number , number plate , etc.... But have finally been told its being processed ... Is this now the norm ?

Hi all, I'm looking to register my TY. I've contacted Yamaha, they cannot provide any details as the factory records no longer exist. They have suggested contacting an owners club to obtain age verification? I have emailed DVLA with details downloaded from web sites, to confirm age ranges, these are not acceptable to them as proof of age Does anyone have any ideas how I can get proof of age?

Hi everyone, I have a Montesa 247 reg PWV 31H purchased back end of 2016. The reg is not know to DVLA so I have to complete form V55 and also suggest completing a V765 and endorsed by the Owners Club to validate the information on the form. Can any help as to whom I can turn to in order to complete this form. I live in the Consett area in the North of England. The bike itself appears to have an interesting past originally purchased in 1969 by Stewart Wiggins and some association with the Laurence Telling who purchased Montesa 247 PWV48. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Mike.

I am considering buying a Suzuki RL250 which has a Whitehawk frame. The bike is not registered. There are no numbers on the frame and I must be able to road register this bike in order to use it on road trials. There must be quite a few Whitehawk framed bikes out there and some must be registered. Can anyone give me a steer on what I need to do.

Hello all, Can you all please share how big your number plate is? How is it attached (stuck to mudguard, on a bracket)? Have you had any issues if it's a non legal size? I know how big they should be but its just not that practical. Ideally I just want a sticky one to stick to the rear mudguard but before I made a purchase I thought I would see what you are all using to get an idea. Thanks fellow riders. Chris.
