Road Legal, MOT, Insurance etc

Hi all I am new to trials riding and i am probably asking a silly question what has been answered hundreds of time before but, i have just bought a 2007 beta 250 road registered so i can drive from my home 2 miles up the road to some local trials area's. I thought if my bike was insured,taxed,and a daytime mot this would be fine. I also have been told that trials tyres are not road legal and i could be issued with 6 points and a further 3 for the wrong sized number plate. I am slightly confused to how you can be issued a mot with none legal road tyres or a correct size number plate, and also dont fancy getting points. Hi Guys, Just bought an 85 TY250 Mono for restoration and it looks like the old mudguard might have had a reg number plate on it, both vin and engine number are correct. Would I be able to HPI just off the VIN ? Thanks in advance guys

Hi there, can anyone recommend a MOT centre in Glasgow area who can MOT my TY250 on a daytime only test. I'm being told that these tests don't exist anymore but there must be a way around it? Thanks

Rightio, Typically I've left this all to the last minute I've finally passed my test today and am doing the Jack Wood trial on the 31st (road work involved). I've done a bit of research and people seem to be getting charged roughly £100-£200 for insurance and the general opinion is that msm seem to be best seeing as they have a propper trials bike policy. Now I got a quote from them for £210ish third party and £270ish third party fire and theft. I know that's more than others I have seen but I am only 19. So that sounds kind of reasonable at my age? which is the best and good price on off road bike insurance

just wondering what the process is? i have a 2002 sherco 290, what sort of process would be needed to get it registered with DVLA? also how much does it cost? any one got any experience with it or done it?

I've lost my V5C and can't remember the registration number. I've downloaded a V62 form to get a replacement V5C, but can't answer what the registration number is... that's why I was looking for the V5C to make a new number plate. I've spoken to the DVLA and they said I can fill in a form to find out if the bike has previously registered, but that could take 8 to 12 weeks for them to do a search. Anyone know how I can find the registration number a bit quicker?

Hi all My bike is ready to be registered with the DVLA - but where can I get an approved DVLA dating certificate from? There doesn't seem to be anyone or any company that I can find who'll do this. Mines a 1977 TR77. Thanks Adrian

Hi everyone, I have a Montesa 247 reg PWV 31H purchased back end of 2016. The reg is not know to DVLA so I have to complete form V55 and also suggest completing a V765 and endorsed by the Owners Club to validate the information on the form. Can any help as to whom I can turn to in order to complete this form. I live in the Consett area in the North of England. The bike itself appears to have an interesting past originally purchased in 1969 by Stewart Wiggins and some association with the Laurence Telling who purchased Montesa 247 PWV48. I'm trying to get my SWM on the road to have a crack at some of the Sammy Miller rounds. It seems for older bikes, Carole Nash is generally regarded as about the best bet. So, having tried to get a quote online and failed as "SWM" doesn't appear in their drop down menu, I decided to call them up. hi i have a year old bike that i wish to insure, primarily against theft. It is road registered. i have heard that insurance companies are not interested if the bike has no ignition key but they seem to accept my reg number on the forms. Does anyone have any experience of this and any other advice. Is it best to have a policy including road use or not? Can anyone recommend any companies many thanks in advance

Hi all, New to the sport and the site but hoping to have my own bike by mid Jan, so been doing my homework on vans and now looking at insurance for the bike! I'm having issues trying to get quotes to cover the bike as I don't have a bike licence and wasn't planning on getting one either. Can anyone on here that doesn't have a bike licence and has a non registered bike let me know what you do for insurance? The bike is a 1985 Honda RTL that I bought from Steve Saunders, it came with no V5 I want to get a V5 sorted - how do I go about it? Any advice would be great. Joe

I beleive I read somewhere recently that, if you passed your driving test in the days where you were then given a complementary full moped licence, then there is norequirement to do a cbt test. Although this is not a widely known fact. can anyone confirm this is the case?

can anyone recommend insurers for off road bikes please, particularly for pre-65 trials bikes, if it makes any difference they are all road reg.
