Road Legal, MOT, Insurance etc

Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question but I cant seem to find a definitive answer anywhere ....I'm over 24 years old, and want to ride trials that might involve a bit of road work , what's the minimum licence I need ? Is A2 enough?

Hi how much of the v55/5 do you have to fill out? Surely you don't have to fill in emissions/co2/noise decibels etc? Many thanks

Going to be getting an MOT for my '61 Tiger Cub. Is a stand required for the MOT? I've checked through the MOT manual and can't see anything that says a stand is a) a part that requires testing, or b ) is required to perform the wheel checks as this can be done through a visual inspection.

I have been building a pre 65 trials bike for some time with a replica frame and I have found for a sale an appropriate frame and V5c of the same brand and year. The seller states that the V5c is in his name and has a non-transferable registration number. How difficult would it be to use this V5c and frame number to register and tax the trials bike? When it means non-transferable does that mean at the end of the process my bike would get the registration number on the V5c or another age related number?

Yet to get in to Trials and want to suss out all of the issues before I jump in... one of which is getting to/from the trials location. It so happens that I live just 4 miles from an official trials site and so I'm wondering if getting a road-reg bike with MOT, tax and insurance and riding it to/from is a reasonable option? Had a couple of comments that have diss'ed the idea completely but thought I'd poll a wider audience and see if anyone has done this and how viable it is? Tyres seem to be the main issue, followed by knackering the mechanicals! Obviously, if I get in to competition more seriously and want to travel off to other venues, then I'll need a van/tr…

I am considering buying a Suzuki RL250 which has a Whitehawk frame. The bike is not registered. There are no numbers on the frame and I must be able to road register this bike in order to use it on road trials. There must be quite a few Whitehawk framed bikes out there and some must be registered. Can anyone give me a steer on what I need to do.

My old Tiger Cub has been in my possession for 31 years , however when I moved out of my family home 25years ago, I couldn't find the log book, but as I only did the odd trial, and the Christmas engine run up with my Dad (RIP). I wasn't overly bothered , however while going through documents after we lost Mum, I found the original Log book in my name , So I sent it off to the DVLA, with covering letter .... Much to my surprise I have had a two month correspondents ping pong, even having to Photograph the frame number , number plate , etc.... But have finally been told its being processed ... Is this now the norm ?

Hi all, Can anyone recommend a good mechanic locally in West Yorkshire that can have a look at my sherco? It's running lean & is a sod to keep the revs down. I've stripped the carb & cleaned everything & put it back together but it needs fettling. It doesn't want to play ball & i want to go riding. Cheers Si

So I would like to road reg my GasGas TXT 250. I have the V55/5 (I think it is) form the DVLA but I think there is more to it than that isn't there? I was wondering if anyone could detail the process and the cost involved, I've read some posts on it but some of those are a good few years old now and I know the Gov love to "update" how things are done for no reason. hi all, my bike has a number plate on it but i dont have the v5, ive checked online on the dvla site and its confirmed the bike, there site says its a 2002 but the frame number tells me its a 2001 could this be a typo maybe. also does anyone know how i go about getting the v5 for it. tia tony

I'm restoring a Bultaco Sherpa 198A which is already road registered with V5 now in my name and being over 40 years old eligible for historic status. However, to apply for historic status the bike has to be insured. When I enquired whether Bikesure my current bike insurance / broker company would add the Sherpa to my multi-bike policy, they said yes as long as the bike had a speedo fitted and asked for me to just send them photographic proof. Seems a bit strange as I didn't think this was a requirement for an MoT etc. but just wondered if anyone else had this experience?
