Are there any differences between carbs fitted to two strokes and 4 strokes? For example I have a spare Mikuni originally fitted to a Beta Zero, can I fit it to a four stroke honda engine? I understand the jetting may need changing but is there any other differences I need to be aware of. I ask because I seem to remember that Amal concentrics are engine type specific.

Hi guys, anyone know when the sherco is going to be available in the uk, or even start production? This may seem a stupid question, but is there any risk of it runing into 2006 and becoming an 06 model? YD Richard Longstaff GD

Hi guy's, very friendly greetings from Germany. I like your Forum very much. We have nothing like this here in Germany. I took my 4Rt from my dealer last friday. The bike is brilliant. Very easy to ride, a lot of power. My last five bikes were been all Betas. Different to the Beta is, that I drive the 4 Rt much more in the first gear. The sound of the 4 Rt is a little bit too loud, when you turn the throttle for speed. Best regards, Thomas

Is it just me or did I miss something birkett said in the test and I quote "..........the suspension was working well especially the rear after the 315r which never did have the best back suspension." Funny how we always get these 'birkisms' last years bike was crap/ let water in/ had wrong gearing/etc but never mentioned the suspension on the mont in the last 6 years anyway as being anything other than ok. The rear unit is adjustable aswell and as far as most fair minded people say its quite good isn't it?

Two stroke Vs Four stroke traction theory. This is an open letter placing down my curiosity as to the realty of my thoughts of two vs four stroke traction. It is looking at the theory vs reality. Given that a two stroke crank rotates (under power) with every pulse of the spark plug means that every rotation of the crank is under power and therefore no free wheeling in affect. The pulses are somewhat smooth as there is no coasting just continuous power being sent to the back wheel as long as you have the clutch out and the gas on. A four stroke on the other hand has the crank make one revolution without a power pulse and one with. Basically the crank is coasting with…

Not much trials stuff at the Bike Show (NEC). But almost hidden in a dark corner on the Michelin stand is the four stroke 320 Sherco. Neat job, real slim. As no-one was about we tested the weights comparing it with the two smoke alongside. Not a lot in it really, only a few pounds. Managed to miss the trials display though.......

Does anybody know anything about if or when beta might release a four stroke to the public? I suppose a broader question is, what is the status of the law-suit that had been supposedly filed by gas-gas/beta with the FIM? The crux of that suit pertained to the fact that the bike manufacturers (particularly gg & beta) were angry that the FIM is dictating techology requirements, rather than emissions requirements. One or both have supposedly produced 2T motors that meet or exceed the emissions standards set for the four stroke machines. A lot would hinge on the results of the law-suit as to weather or not we will see 4T machines from these manufacturers in the near te…

Yup, I've deleted two threads on the subject, but feel an explanation is necessary. Firstly Sherco were not happy that this was published as it was unofficial. I contacted them and said I was NOT going to publish it without their approval. I did (reluctantly) get clearance from them to post the video from the 15th, but as the smallest part of this video was 19Mb and, in my opinion, not worth the valuable bandwidth and inevitable slowdown of the site for other users, I decided not to post it. I do not care what other websites choose to publish. This site exists solely for the promotion of the sport and that includes manufacturers and distributors as well as clubs and rid…
