Hello world, i have an old Montesa, still in very good nick, just got it going after several years rest. When I am changing gears it hits a neutral. I believe their could be something loose inside the box. any ideas. Loughie

Hi all, My '04 315 silencer rattles excessively at the junction to the pre-muffler, is there any shop tricks you've used to tighten the fit? I've already repacked the silencer and the core is good and the rivits are tight, the rattle is coming from the out shell contacting the pre-muffler. Also, the gromet at the frame mount is in reasonable condition. Thanks

Any one care to flash a ferret at this? 05 4rt never been a problem. In a small trial yesterday, short laps low entry. While riding the second lap just about non stop cos there were no que's i did the second lap without re fuelling tank was below half full i stopped half way round the lap to rest, it was really hot and sunny, i got talking to various people and had left the bike ticking over. I must have sat about 5 mins with the bike ticking over perfectly. I entered the section opened the throttle to climb a small rock and the engine just died, felt like i had not turned petrol on and it was running out of fuel however i closed the throttle and it ticked over perfectly…

Does anyone know if the current Repsol Replica 4RT has the same clutch in as the standard 06 model or does it have the clutch that was in the standard 05?

thanks for your thoughts on my dragging clutch issue, swapping it with aftermarket cr plates sounds like the best idea. my local dealer is asking for the exact year of cr 250 or a part number. my 315 is a 98, i'm guessing the cr is also but they changed around that time. any help would be great.

Help...further to my last post I have got a set of raceline dimpled clutch plates.I removed the original plates and fitted the new ones but now the clutch drags all the time! it will free wheel in neutral but with the clutch lever pulled in it will not free wheel if in gear.What have I done wrong? I think (pretty sure ) that the plates came out and went back in in the same order only with dimpled steel plates instead of the old ones?!HELP never done this before and thought that it would be straight forward enough! (to quote,"a ten minute job").

A few questions hopefully someone out there will answer. Why have the colour of the rims reverted to Repsol orange when at the earlier rounds they were a deep gold? On the handlebar mounted switch, used to alter the maps, how many settings and what colour LED matches each map. You can see the LED light on the videos of Doug and Fujigas. Can you buy 2006 Repsol 4RT plastics anywhere?

Please tell me the differences between 01 & 04 315 bikes.I have the option to get either one and need your expert advice to help this decision.This website has been a great help as most people are not biased and are genuine.Thanks..

hi it has been recommended to me to replace the dragging 315 clutch with a 314 clutch anyone know if this works? i have also heard i should fit surflex plates but i am unsure of where in the pacific north west to get my hands on them. any ideas?

I've got a 1971 Montesa Cota 25 that I'm interested in selling. It's got the metal fenders and the tank is in decent shape. I'm finding the clutch a little unforgiving for a learner such as myself and was wondering if a master cylinder with a smaller piston would expand the current on/off clutch action into something a little more friendly. It's an AJP MC.

Can somebody tell me if there is a front sprocket gaurd available for the 4RT

I am digging into my bikes first valve adjustment and have a question that those of you who have done it before may be able to answer. Firstly, everything is relatively straight forward, and relatively easy to access. The question comes from trying to find TDC. When I align the T with the hole in the cases the rockers do not move freely, if I rotate it another 360 degrees I still cannot move them. I have tried to slide a feeler gauge in at both positions assuming one of them is TDC, but it is really tight. Is it possible that my valves are so tight that I cannot get a feeler gauge in an TDC? Other than being able to freely move the rocker arms can I verify that I am at TD…

Took the plunge recently and bought a 4RT. I'm getting along with it quite nicely, love the suspension and the power characteristics 99% of the time, the exception is hillclimbs. The bike doesn't rev high and doesn't develop power, it produces low and midrange torque by the bucketload, but when you need to really fly up a hill it won't. The bike is exactly as it came out of the box, investigation shows 3 diametric restrictors in the exhaust and one immediately after the throttle body. The one after the throttle body was the surprise, it's a disk completely filling the intake with a tiny (guess 10-13mm dia) hole punched in it low down. This I assumed was the problem, in…

After 5 months or so & more miles than most 4rt's will do in 2 years my bike wouldn't start tonight. With a long days course sorting for our 3 day ahead tomorrow I was less than happy. After much kicking & cursing I decided to change the plug, it had been in since Easter & with an SSDT under it's belt I thought a new one would do the trick. More kicking & cursing the sodding thing still wouldn't start. I decided to walk away at this point, after 10 minutes I went back into the garage to get my manual for a read up on it & thought B*****ks to it I'll have another go, it fired up 3rd kick. Anyone know an easy way to remove the paint from a 315 tank? I'm afraid to try any of the usual paint removers on a plastic tank.
