Keeping a clean airbox/carb! I use filter oil, grease around the the lip of the filter, grease even at the mouth of the airbox lid! But I continue to get dirt in the carb, I always check the boots between carb, cylinder and box to make sure seal is tight! Air box has no cracks seems good. I feel like I take all the proper steps in preparing a clean air flow on my 2003 Mont! How often do you guys replace your filters, buy new ones? sam

lad at work had a blat on my 315r today, reckons he's had years playing on crossers so of he goes and then cracks the throttle wide in 2nd and loops the bike within 10 feet of me thing is it landed upside down and stayed there revving its nuts off for maybe 5 seconds before i righted it and shut the jammed throttle. it re-started straight away and doesnt seem to be rattling/or knocking. i ran it this evening up to temp and had a run up the road and all seems ok but do i need to worry bout anything else?

Any ideas on MH200 Gearbox, I understand they are very delicate, mine is prone to jump/fall out of gear now & again, also although all gears work I often have to move the lever in both directions before it will go in gear. Wondering if anybody has come up with a mod/improvement to selector mechanism. Thanks Mark.

Hey all! Very excited about a new Montesa Repsol I just ordered. Just for fun, I was wondering if anyone knew how diferent the Repsol Replica was from the actuall factory bike. I know the Gas Gas Raga replica is fairly true to the factory bike is this the same for Montesa? Also for those that have been running a Repsol what do you thing of it? This would be my first 4stroke trials bike, I'm curius to know more about it. I have to wait about 4 weeks for mine to show up. :/ Cheers!

Hi, I hope some of you more knowledgable guys will be able to help with a couple of probs with my 80's cota 200 (29M).I want to sort these out before I get too far with the restoration. Firstly the forks seem to be a bit reluctant to spring back and seem to stick a bit after they compress.Any Ideas?? The 200 I had back when it was new had the chain tubes , I cant remember if it had a chain tensioner. But this one seems to have a tensioner from a bracket welded to the swing arm which would get in the way of fitting chain tubes also there is an alloy dagger fin which again is on a bracket on the swing arm to help protect the chain and sprocket from contact with rocks, Wou…

Hi, I recently got back into trials and bought a 1997 registered Cota 311. After a quick clean of the carbs she fired up and is great fun. I noticed that the clutch was 'dragging' a little so I changed the gear box oil. On draining it, I saw that it was AFT fluid and I have filled it up with the same. All is working well, I just wondered if it is usual to use ATF instead of PJ1 or other 75W oil? EDIT: just read a few other posts - should have done that before posting! Cheers

I have a '97 315R which runs pretty good, but needs a little help. When cold it will start on the third kick most every time. When hot, and it sits for 5-10 minutes (like when you're waiting for your turn at a section) it won't start without using the choke. The spark plug indicates that it's running pretty lean (whitish, light brown color). Another thing, maybe related, when I'm riding it with no load, level ground at steady speed, the engine, as best as I can describe it, oscillates. It sounds like "whump, whump, whump". Any problems there? I figured I'd ask you guys before I try to fix this on my own.

i recently got this 2001, 315r montesa, i bleed the clutch well, and backbleed it too etc, the cylinder works well ( i checked it with the cover off, and it actually works) but the clutch doesnt engage well, when i pull the lever the gear keeps going unless i get it into neutral, shouln't it stop going when you press the clutch?, as if it was into neutral?the previus owner told he never did an oil change. as soon as i had it home i change oil and changed the friction plates, but i left out 1 friction plate and 1 steel plate, because the new friction plates(i believe they are from a honda CR250) are thicker than the stock ones and did not fit all together into the basket…

Anyone know how to tension this f***ing thing..!!?? I've looked at this for what seems like hours and can't figure it out. Clymer manual is a great help - refit kickstart...!! Parts book is just that, shows the parts, no instructions. It came off the bike working so I know it will go back on - somehow... There is a notch in the kickstart where the hook of the spring locates presumably. Can't see anywhere else it goes. With the shaft fully home, the spring fitted to the shaft and the kickstart offered up in the 'home' position, the hook lines up almost directly with the notch in the kickstart. However, there is no tension on the spring like this and when the kickstart is…
