My Montesa Cota 247 C (79/80) - Chassis 21M25327 is in need of a few jobs and any help and advice would be much appreciated. 1 - I lost all clutch at the weekend and upon taking it apart i've found the bush that pushes the three legged plate quite badly worn so my thoughts were to overhaul it all whilst apart. I'm looking to replace the clutch plates - What options do I have and do i need a special tool to remove them. Where can a i source the small bush that goes between the lever and the three legged plate. Does any one have any experience in lenghtening the arm on top of the casing to give a lighter more modern feel ? 2 - I need to replace the steering head bear…

I have recently gotten a 1999 315r, now with winter coming I want to mount the headlight but just see the lower screw hole at the base of the headlight surround, there is a threaded hole higher but I don't see anything on the headlight to attach to. Is there another bracket that I should have? Please let me know if anyone has an idea, thanks

Hi Can anybody please tell me what the fork oil capacity for a montesa 2003 is. I seem to think that it is around 350cc but i am not to sure. Thanks in advance. Steve

Hi Guys, I am looking into buying a Montesa 315r (My frist Montesa!!!) and was wondering where to get the (black gas tank look) the bike im thinking of buying is red but looks a bit rough on the plastics so a make over is due, its eazy getting front and rear mudguards but not many items for the gas tank? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi. Looking at an MH200 for restoration. It has the fibreglass tank and I was wondering if it would be prone to damage from modern fuels. I can't see any sign of leaking or damage. Is it possible that by this time they would have used an epoxy resin that would not be affected by the ethanol or is it likely that this tank will need to be lined for ethanol protection. Cheers

Hello everyone, when I shift the bike into gear and pull the clutch at the handle bars it seems like there is still some resistance and not rolling as if it was in neutral. What could this be? Thanks! Adrien

Hi all, is there anybody that provides an alloy tank for the Cota 21M that will sit under the original tank / seat unit with the old tank base cut away? Or can anyone suggest a company that might make one.

With the standard oil levels as per manual I find the forks pull up fairly suddenly on compression and are not reaching full stroke during a ride. I am thinking of reducing the oil level slightly to reduce the air spring pressure on full compression. I presume the left (spring) leg is the one that controls the final stroke, is that correct?? Have any light weight riders reduced the oil level and if so how much??

i have a cota 123 which will not run below half throttle runs ok if you keep throttle open but soon as falls below half cuts out as if no fuel, i have changed the inlet rubber ,points, condenser still same , also am unsure of choke off position up or down any info greatly appreciated,

I'm putting a new plug cap on, and the HT lead is looking a bit scabby (and has a suppressor) on what looks like an original coil - can I swap just the lead? Or do I just fit a new generic coil?

Hi whats the most preload you should go before you have to go up a spring rate? ive just wound my stock spring up to 115mm compressed length with the bike off the ground and it’s just starting to feel like front & rear are working at the same speed. Maybe a few more mm and it will be bang on but I don’t want to take it too far and cause damage etc Cheers Andy

How easy is it to get parts for the 315r like can you still get a cdi box and parts for the gearbox. I know mudguards can be cut to shape and the linkage is the same as a 4rt. Or would you be better going for a 4rt now. The bike is for my dad just to ride around on, so he's no worried about the 4 stroke riding style.

has any one got any thoughts on mods for the 05 clutch i am having problems finding netural and also starting in gear has become nearly impossible. i have spoke to sandifords an it seems that the 06 clutch has just one modified set of plates in it, but just wondering what any one else has done (ie mitini plates, 06 plates, 315 master cylinder) and the results they got. cheers jsp

has anyone had problems with engine oil mixing with gearbox oil?gearbox oil going through to the engine.

How do I adjust the rear suspension on my 99 montesa? I'd like to soften it up a bit, but id like to know how to go both ways. If i tighten up on the coil, that stiffens the compression, right?
