Hi there. I'm wanting to put some fatbars onto my 4rt. I'm wondering how i manage to fit them in place of the standard ones. Also, where can i get the parts needed. I'm also looking at putting a larger clutch master cylinder on. Again, i'm wondering where i can get one from, preferably second hand. Thanks in advance. Chris

Can any one point me to a detailed source of how to adjust this, as it appears to be beyond me or at best trial and error. In that the cam is on the flywheel and the flywheel covers the screws that adjust it the timing. So you can check BTDC once its on but have to take the flywheel off to adjust it then assemble to check it and see how close you have got? Or am I being daft !? G :-)

Hi , looking for some help with my new to me 16 4rt. I was out on it today for a short while and brought it home and washed it then fired it up to burn some of the water of the engine and thought id let it run till the fan came on. It sat running for about 10-15 mins as was not sure when the fans normally come on and no sign of the fan coming on so turned it off. After further investigation , I have found no sign of a fan relay anywhere but found cut wires which had been taped up and insulated, two red , a blue and a black so I'm assuming this is the fan relay wires and why my fans not coming on. 1st question , will I have overheated it with it…

Hi everyone, I wish my first posting here was about something cool or interesting but instead, I need help with a stupid mistake I made. I have a Honda Montesa Cota 4rt260 and while changing the oil, I misread the torque value for the bolt that holds the oil filter cover retaining plate In place and snapped that bolt off. I am going to try an easy out for the broken bolt but before doing so, I would like to get everyone’s opinion on how necessary the retaining plate is. The oil filter cover sits tightly in place and is covered/kept in place by the crankcase cover. The alternative to the easy out is removing the engine and taking it to a machine shop which I really d…

Probably a dumb question given the current situation. Does anyone know if there will be a 2021 260 4RT (ie. the standard bike)? I would expect (& totally understand) not but good to know before I buy a 2020 one. Wish they would do it in red again even if nothing else changes...

couldnt workout why my airbox kept filling with dust particles and water, even after 2 new air filters and a new filter cover. found out that the platic had cracked on the seam where the lugs for the mudguard support brackets are, the split only became apparent when you aplied force to the bracket. sealed it up with some super sticky silicone, problem solved. also fitted some of those boyesen reeds, (thanks ff) what a difference, super strong midrange now and revs to infinity and beyond, no noticable change at low revs. excellent, cheap and easy mod. jono

Just got a Cota 349 so I'm new here. I would like to find out what year my 349 was made? 51m17116. It is registered as a 1976 but they didn't start until 1979. It appears as an early one as it has a red tank with a tube guage on the right side. Has no spark so trouble shooting is in order. thanks for any info. Hackrider

Quick question for anyone that knows, will the fenders from a '14 or '15 4RT fit on the earlier models? It looks like the mount bolts are in the same places but not sure about the new tank shape vs old. Thanks in advance, Pip.

Hi guys, I have a 2015 4rt repsol replica and i gave it a service the other night, i.e. engine and gear oil, oil and air filters! It wasn't very good to start afterwards (normally starts first kick), but eventually did and ran very well! However, I've come to it today, and kicked it and it started and ran for about a minute and about 10 yards across the yard before stopping and it would not start again! I've put it back in the shed and come here, desperate for some help! I posted in general trials talk to hopefully get to a wider audience that should get me some help quicker! TIA

I have taken my 349 fork leg to a welder who says it may or may not work as he won't be able to weld all the way around. To be on the safe side I'm on the lookout for some new legs if possible. Does anyone have any cluttering up their shed or garage? Neil

Really like the idea of a 4ride for trail riding. I can cope with the fuel range, and gear lever position, but am slightly concerned about the air box. I ride Wales a bit with some fairly deep river crossings occasionally on the Strata Florida and the like. Is the air box exactly the same as on the 4RT? No additional snorkel or anything? Does anyone trail ride one regularly? Cheers Dave

Now at the stage of getting the engine back together, after a bit of a long rebuild. Anyway, there is a breather at the rear of the motor, from the top of the gearbox, and also a breather in the magneto cover. Are these actually necessary? Is it a good idea to remove them? If they should remain in place, should I; Gearbox - Run this up into the bottom of the air filter box? Magneto - Run this up the frame to under the tank with a 1 way breather on it? Advice appreciated. Thanks.
