Montesa

My 4rt has burnt holes in two sets of riding pants and i can't work out how. Holes are on my right leg below my knee and above my boot The exhaust doesn't seem to go anywhere near unless i slide off sideways to touch the ground with my throttle hand. Anyone else doing this?

hi, can anyone tell me if the 348 came painted yellow as standard? my youngest lad fetched my broken 348 (flywheel sheared off many years ago!!) out of the shed yesterday stating " i need a project,dad", now when i bought it years ago it was yellow but i decided to spruce it up with a nice new shiny red coat of paint, picking that colour purely because all the ones i have seen in the past were red, so i thought if we are going to revive it we may as well paint it the right colour, if indeed yellow is the right colour. I have a load of engine parts i bought off fleabay a few years ago in readiness for the big day, but would be grateful of any advice/things to look out for …

I am new to the Montesa Forum but have posted on the Bultaco Section often. I picked up a Cota 348 bike for $300 (in hindsight too much) and the previous owner told me that it just needed a new kickstart spring. I love the rush of a new project and the hopes of turning it in to something great. But....it turns out that it has a few more issues than just a spring. The kickstart shaft is broken off and the drive gear on the clutch side is welded in place. As well there is something wrong with the shifter side because I found JB weld Epoxy inside the case. What are the chances of finding the required parts at a reasonable cost??? Seems to be fewer sources for Montes…

How do I remove crankcase on a montesa 200 when main bearings are seized due to twenty standing that's if I'm stripping it right,engine split about half inch but bearings are seized and all rusty and I don't want any damage,help wanted.

My 315 started overheating a few weeks ago. So I pulled it down, thinking it was a head gasket problem. While I had it stripped I fitted new rings. Despite the new head gasket it is still overheating. Beginning to think it may be a water pump issue! Any ideas as to the cause would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi I am building a 1976 Montesa Cota not a full resto just so it works good so I can ride and ride. My question is the engine has 2 oil fill caps. What oil does it take and how do I check the oil level or drain the old oil. Need to get this right so figured this is the best place to get the correct info.

I currently own a 260 repsol 4rt with plenty of upgrades. Twin map throttle body, bigger radiator, termigoni system etc . . . I'm toying with the idea of sticking a big bore kit on it, has anyone gone from having a 260 to a 280? did you notice any difference?

What is the smallest gearbox sprocket for a Mont?

Trying to confirm the timing on a 1983 Cota 350 (European MH349). Searching this forum has been inconclusive as timing is given most frequently as 1.8mm BTDC and occasionally as 3.0mm BTDC. I know 1.8mm is correct for the 348's, and I think it also applies to the early 349's up through the 81 white wonder, but I'm not sure it applies to the 82 and 83 models. Can anyone confirm the timing for an 83 Cota 350.

Hi fitted a montesa cota 315r fan to my beta rev3 but which way should it spin it as arrows on it and is spinning that way .. when sat on the bike should it spin left or right ? Should I feel it blowing on to me or should it be blowing through the rad .. cheers for your help

Basically from what I can work out I have (at some point in the day) landed one of my rear chain snail adjusters on a rock which has subsequently loosened my chain, I'm guessing that whilst carrying on that day the chain has jumped up and whipped the small aluminium lug that holds the rear chain tensioner spring. This has sheared clean off, I have an idea of what it looks like but could do with someone taking a photo of theirs for me with possibly a ruler or tape measure next to it for reference.
