O.k, I know it's been covered many times but I'm looking for something I may have missed. I recently replaced my 2014 clutch plates with a set of Apico friction plates and dimpled discs. I also used the correct Elf oil. However I continue to get enough clutch drag to have to put it in neutral to start (Just like my Tiger Cub!). Selecting gears becomes difficult once the bike is hot and neutral is pretty much impossible to find at any time with the engine running. I currently have the clutch out and have polished out some very shallow marks in the clutch basket fingers with 800 wet and dry. (mainly on the drive side). At our local trial today and I had the chance to check out one of the last 315R monts (white rear guard one), great bike, top quality, and well sorted (as it should be) why the hell did Montesa just stop making it? It seems like they have a fully sorted bike in the 315, the closer I looked the more quality bits and bobs I saw...just seems a waste to just stop making it....any thoughts?

That got your attention :0) what colours do you think we'll get next year? I think it'll be white rear mudguard, white tank and white front mudguard (Honda colours) or white rear, red front and red tank (Montesa) black wheels, silver frame again. Repsol will be factory rep with the wings on silencer and airbox, What do you think? Could also be a Fuji special to celebrate 20 years in the WTC !!!

can anyone answer a few questions on the 4rt. i have one on the way, and would like to know what people think about the following things. do you need to change clutch master cylinder? do you need to change rear sprocket? what size what is the best combination of restrictors in/out? what is routine maintainence like. any thing to look out for. any set up tips? tickover etc. ( for expert club level ) any tips on technique for riding them. have read somewhere you have to ride them different to make them grip in mud. thanks

Hi all, Just picked up on non-running Cota 247 (1975-ish), and would like to get it going. It has decent compression, good spark (at least outside the cylinder on the two plugs I tried), and it is getting fuel. I even tried a shot of ether starting fluid in the carby and cylinder, but it won't even pop...nothing at all. Any ideas on what to check?

Hi guys. I’m looking to buy a 4 ride next year with a budget for a 2 or 3 year old one. What are your thoughts on them for reliability & rideability & general info . I’ve heard people say the gear shift is too far away but not sure if this is true. With thanks Andy Cheers guys

Have just tried first machine to arrive in W.A and find it hard to ride with slow running set at 1700rpm, am used to TLR that runs reliably at 800rpm. Initial factory setting was 3200!!! What are U.K riders setting machine at?

My recently acquired Cota 200 has the frame number MH200 00044 I cannot find any engine number. I assume the H is a reference to the Honda involvement but what year I would like to know. I am also curious as to the actual CC of the "200" engine

I'm back with more newbie questions from the Brit on a new 4RT in Austin Texas :-) On the promise of a cleaner burning engine, I moved from ethanol "enriched" gas in the 91-93 range, to VP 110 race gas. Outside of the price, I like the stuff bar one thing. I'm seeing some odd engine behavior in the following scenario. When opened up on the loop trail out to one our our sections, when I'm in a high gear with gas on, its feels like the engine in faltering and might even stall a little. As I gas off it seems to idle down too fast - it recovers cos its a Monty :-) but does this imply something is wrong? Shoud I have changed something with the gas? Should I not both…

Hi bought myself a 242 few months ago. I'm surprised how little there seem to be around. What's the reasons for this any ideas? Also is there a way of stiffening up front an rear suspension without spending a fortune seem to be bottoming it all out. But I am 17st so not really surprised. Thanks in advance

Morning, I’m looking for some help with my Montesa 301 RR 2022 clutch. I’ve had issues with the clutch since purchase a year ago. It’s progressively got worse with juddering, shrieking when hot and now a grinding sound under engine breaking. Ive changed the plates out for Mitani Alluminium discs, fresh HTX 740 and it hasn’t improved or changed at all. Any advice would be much appreciated.
