I think it's just bikes over 600cc, from manufacturers who exceed a certain volume of sales
I think all trials bike manufacturers fall below the volume level - including Montesa
-
Most branded Super Unleaded contains very small amounts of ethanol anyway, so I use that
3 out of my 5 bikes are EFI now and the road bikes are left for 6 months over winter with no special treatment - key just turned off
Come Spring - they are started up & just ridden off, no dramas & have been using the same practice on those EFI models since 1995 with no ill effects & are just serviced to the manufacturer's schedule
Same with the 4RT - washed and parked up, sometimes for a month
My other 2 bikes are carb and after every ride I turn off the petrol tap & let them run until they stall - again no dramas with either petrol in plastic or metal tanks
I cut the lawns this week, with my Honda mower which has been stood with petrol - 95 unleaded since last October in the carb
Started 3rd pull and ran perfectly
I think the ethanol thing is a myth which is overblown

Yep prices are going crazy, £3000 for a 315R is barmy, I only just paid over that for a brand new one from BVM in 2004, last of the line white model
Can't wait for 4RT prices to climb, though
-
Perhaps we could have JOG-ON-OSSA, as a new joint venture for 2017
A new bike may catch on, with a back to front engine, efi and a laid down, side mounted rear shock
DADof2 could be their new marketing guru, he has a way with figures, he could offer any new buyer - free Trials entry fees for the first year on the new creation
-
Pads NN3 are same as 4RT and still avaialble
315R Rear Mudguards are drying up, but you can cut down a 4RT one
Other stuff like kickstarts/exhausts and some other bits are getting more scarce, but not impossible YET
-
Short & sweet - future classic
-
Just checked mine, 10 years and all ok
-
-
I think it'll lose popularity on future years if exhibitor costs are too high
-
9/46 - you'll never get lower than 3rd gear
-
Somebody wrote it here - so you are not wrong
Obviously they were mistaken

Bloody good thread with sound advice
The 'bubble' for cheap doer uppers is over, it was 10 years ago
Never done the British or Spanish stuff
But I have dabbled in Jap
In 2002/3 I bought aN adult frame Majesty 200 - very good nick and genuine (Godden nickel frame, alloy coffin tank & all the proper Maj bits, like brake stays/engine cases) for £1100, which I thought was strong money,
Rode it a bit after doing consumables like a mudguard, tyres, road registering it and Nowt else
Sold it in 2007 for £2600 & probably only worth £3k today
There is a ceiling & we're about at it now

Whereabouts in the world are you??
-
I was just asking, about early w/cooled bikes because I'm not bothered about a twinshock or TY Pinky, had some in last 10 years, but the early watercooled bikes interest me and i'd still keep the 4RT
-
Yeah Baldilocks
I dunno what the answer is?
I see the sport, split into 2, us over 40's and 50's that are used to riding natural sections and another for youngsters wanting to ride big hazards, that quite frankly scare me
-
Trials UK are fine, never dealt with RAS
-
-
-
With the rising popularity of Twinshocks and Aircooled Monos in UK Trials, with separate classes and the Kia Championship, does anyone think it will be extended for early watercooled Monos, say pre 1995, in the future
Say Aprillia Climber/Beta Synt/Yam TYZ and the like?
-
Add weight, yep what a good idea?
-
6 months to get used to it, then you'll be away
-
Bar risers are a modern fad
Increase flex through bars
They are the work of the devil - choose the correct height bars for you, instead
-
What a great story, lovely to hear it all
Good luck Spen

Thanks John, I thought my memory wasn't going barmy
Brill video whichever the year
