Much as I like the wee Oset my lad has it can;t manage anything like a regular club trial on two sets of regular batteries.(8 batteries) I know it's easy to use and low maintenance nice and quiet and can go loads of places I wouldn't dream of taking a petrol bike. This is fine but my Scorpa 175F would get round the whole trial on a litre of fuel costing about a £1 probably costs me more to charge the 2 sets of batteries on the Oset. Ok no doubt the high spec batteries are better and things will progress given time. .

Fair enough, nice part of the world looks like it could be on the coast too by the end of this Winter!

Well if we're all willing to pay for it I'm sure the SACU in my case would willingly employ someone to spread the word. Fact it there's really only some much I can expect for my £12 reg/licence fee. Make it £!00 and spend the £88 on promotion? Aye,right as we say, be real popular. Even a miserable Fifer like myself can see the value in the present system.. IMO best way to promote Trials is run plenty easy club trials and look after the new riders

As an aside I'm thinking Motorcycle trials must have the highest numbers of participants of any motorsport in the UK. i suppose it is pretty insulting not to have a few seconds on the Beeb once a year. Don't suppose many riders really care mainly because all they want to do is play on there bikes. A weekend out of trials is a weekend out of life.

As some will know the club seretary is probably the most thankless job in the club. Being the season of goodwill please spare poor Bob,Julie.Annie ,Fred a thought. or whoever has cheerfully tolerated you over the past 12 months. Perhaps some could even go a bit further when attending there local festive trial? Even some Scots think it's nice to be nice.

Never had any problems riding in local woods/ park (10 year old on 20 racing) may be pushing it but I think it does trials no harm letting the public see the bikes out and about . As for regular trials the wee boy and me bash round riding what stuff he can and improvised routes. Really try to keep it light

You like you;re Ossa! Much maligned but some bits are outstanding,never even looked at the filter since before the Scottish, MInes like an electric motor there's no hit never had a carb bike come close. I know it;s a few faults and at 52 years of age it takes me all my time to kick it over. Genuinely feel my bikes better than anything out there.

Wish them all the best,even to get this far puts us to shame,Spain with all it's problems finding cash to fund this. If Sammy Miller never went to Spain trials would be finished.

Well said, support those that support the sport and try to keep it local. The scene in Fife is great . Big Ians a great guy though he still thinks it's 1979.

Ha ha, I suppose everyone has an opinion on this and the old ty 175 would be a worthy number one,ty mono was probably better but it seemed so dear when it came out. I really don't know but nothing with a water cooled motor as they're all like tissue paper. I do have a personal favourite the Scorpa ty 175f but purely on reliability and ease of use. No 4rt in the sections though. Tell me what you thinks number one and I'll gladly slate it.

Takes me back, my dad bought me one in 77 and was well trialled for the next 3 years. So well made just ran it and ran it you could never do that with a modern bike. Would get my vote for the second best trials bike ever made.

Another tip if your rear rear tyre is clogged with mud you,ll get very little grip. If my tyres clogged usually stick it in 4th hold the bike on the front brake (a static nose wheelie)and give it a quick burst of revs,catch it on the rear brake if you can before putting the rear wheel back on the ground. Make sure it's clear behind you when doing this and doing it in a queue for a section can attract a few moans. Have fun.

I don't think Nigels being anything other than realistic. 249 seems well informed but surely someone with a bit passion designed the Ossa? All seems a bit of a waste.

Mostin,out of curiosity could you pick that bike up if you dropped it in a section? It looks so heavy.

Good guess all the rest are too nice to slag you off on TC. All you need to be a trials rider is a GSOH and the ability to humliate yourself at any point .

Aye bridge is open so they'll be plenty Fifers there. Thank god you got some new gear,full face helmets and leather gauntlets don,t really cut t even at Wobblers Trials. Get over to Kidlaw there's no even a toll now.the banters great and I might even take you round as long as you can tolerate a 10 tear old on an Oset coming too. Hi Chad, I too run a spare set of lead acids for the wee boys 20 racing. Always charge them on the bike but I reakon I could swap them in less than 2 minutes. Did away with the fiddly battery bag and use heavy duty reusable cable ties to keep everything in place. Dont know if this is good practice but the bike does get used under trial conditions with no problems. Maybe see you around. Cheers the noo.

Planning on entering again so I'll put him down as my riding partner. As I was in Lanzarote last week my Spanish is up to speed what more could he want. In fact I'm drinking a bottle of San Miguel as I post. Dos cerveza por favour as we say in the Ben Nevis bar (next May anyway)
