  1. When new the 301 was typically an expert bike, 241 was a good clubman bike and the 201 in the main was for youth riders.

If you want a 4t i think either the Beta or the 4RT is the way to go. I hate recommending 4RTs why cant Honda make a quiet bike !!! However you are correct in that the 4RT is a better product in my view than a 4t sherco
  3. A 280 is a more aggressive motor but it also generates a lot more torque. The 280 is probably in its comfort zone in third, the 250 may be better in second but with more revs. it can be frustrating but go back to it, think about where you stand on the bike. Mud can be ridden by some people on very little throttle, others use lots of revs and slip the clutch and are just as effective. The more mud there is the more appropriate the "rev it" approach becomes. Other point is there is often grip somewhere and once you have it you need to maintain momentum.
  4. Good Video how do you persuade the police to let you use the road as a section ?
  5. I have a Hebo and a Shoei, the Shoei was expensive but its now six years old. Its the only trials helmet I have had that I can actually feel the vents working. As mentioned above about flow, the Shoei does have inflow at the front and an exit on the top. On a cold day its effective enough to make you stop and close the input vent. I like the look of the Airoh but the size of the vents concerns me, the primary function of a helmet is to protect your head and I think the vents are a bit too big to do that. Just my view and judging by the sales lots of people disagree. The Hebo has some venting but nowhere near as effective
  6. or buy your lad a ty80 ?
  7. JRSunt would probably lap half the MX riders at a local event if he rode his 4rt ! John why not contact Martin Craven at FatCat ? I think they might hire Enduro bikes and they have a track based on the bike tests held there ?
  8. are you both in same gear ? You need to bend your knees and sit back so you are over the wheel spindle. rider position makes a lot of difference so may not be the bike.
  9. Good motor to work on you only need a flywheel puller. Clutch basket and primary gear are really easy to remove.
  10. 300 of any brand is great fun between sections or on a monster hill climb. However look at a youtube video where somebody tries to wheelie a big road bike and goes off the back.....Fun ?? Trials is about precision, just enough speed and being on the right line. Thats very difficult on a 300 for a beginner. Go to some events near you, middle and easy course winners will probably be riding smaller cc bikes. Finally its your choice im just saying what I think. Buy the bike you want and as long as your smiling thats all that counts.
  11. This is going off topic talking about footrests but once the teeth round off on ali pegs your feet slide around and or off which is dangerous. A good platform to stand on is essential so go with steel pegs which are good as they can be repaired and will bend rather than break. Helmet choice is down to fit really, Airoh are very good as are Arai and Shoei. Mots do a carbon version. Cheaper ones are still good helmets but may not be as light or vent as well. The best boots i had of late were sidi good protection and support and hard wearing. Got Forma currently but they flex a bit too much round the ankle in my view. Finally dont buy a 300 i was scared of my last one and ive been riding 35 years ! Feel great in a car park but in a confined space far too quick.

id check head bearings and also the linkage have been greased on assembly. Thats on any bike not just a sherco.
  13. picking up wrighty's point the local authority quoting 30k had no legal basis to close the road anyway ?
  14. mcmillan nurses will not have paid 30k for a charity bike ride. depends which council / what purpose ?
  15. Travers national had to change date last year as some roads were closed for a charity bike ride. Why cant we do that for a wtc round ?
  16. Alpinestars very comfortable but the pair i bought were worn out in no time. Had a rev 3 beta and where my boots rubbed on the frame the leather wore through in a month. Had sidi's and i would recommend them
  17. The caps were std on the 84 bike but not the subsequent S model. you can pressure them if you live too close to McD's but in the day they were just for releasing pressure. I wouldnt put much in as you may just pop the fork seal.
  18. its a yank thing that doesnt make any sense. Brits called it a double blip until the Ryan Yank videos came out.
  19. Read a few of your posts recently Ben not really a Gas Gas person perhaps ?
