Actually the proper way to check the shift forks is to remove them and the shaft. Put them on the shaft bachwards and they should seat exactly flush to each other. (lay flat to each other) If that came out sounding right?
-
Is it fresh fuel? I would replace just to make sure!
-
It may shift fine, but did you see the part of adjusting the cam? It was quite a problem on the `02`s. If you split the cases it is very easy to check the forks and shaft. The `02 had a very weak shift drum that you might consider replacing.
-
Wrong video, you need to watch jim snell`s engine rebuild video.
-
Did you watch the part of the video to adjust the shift cam?
-
No if it was missing the washers it could leak. A leaking caliper is not normal.
-
The original disc guard had washers in it. If you are missing the guard or washers the bolt could of bottomed out. When the lever is pulled it flexes and leaks. The original front brake worked fine, unless you are very talented you would not gain a thing.

What the scooter would not make the two week journey? Just rent one upon arrival. Bound to be some tiki sticks somewhere in tennessee. Great for lighting fireworks!!
-
If you are talking about the factory marks, they are wrong. Same with the rotation marked on the cap. The level should be below the lowest mark or you will just blow it on the engine.
-
The coolant is not ment to be full. The fluid is overfilled, so just being pushed out. The proper fill level is almost with the tank empty. Just enough to see it works fine.
-
Jon, the parts manual shows the plates available thru 2010. So which is it? Just curious to what it is really in the newer bikes.
-
Having a 200 myself I see why you want better brakes. I`m planning to upgrade mine in the coming months. I am just using ty mono hubs. Just because I have a few sets laying around!
-
Sag is not so much the issue. The suspension has to work together. Quick way to check is just pusing down on the seat. The front and rear need to move at the same rate. On a trials bike it is better to be too soft than too hard. The original owners manual had help with this. If you are heavy, you will need to change the springs.
-
That`s a good deal, but are they dumping the inventory. Prices get cheap when you are no longer the importer.
-
Anyone remember the video of the german scorer beat the crap out of the mouthy rider, about mid 90`s? We might see that again at TTC. For those of you saying non-stop is boring, bet me!! I see a road trip in may!
-
What happened to pages 2-9. Did I miss another rant to set Sting in motion. He started off really good, somewhere, someone, or something ruined his day. For some reason six hours of riding does not set well with some people! By the way, check out the mototrial us website on friday the 1st of march for a new USA website!

Yes, I just did this last week on my son`s bike. You could need a new clutch, but check if it is out of spec first. The plates come in different thickness. From 1.3-1.6, you will need to have it checked for proper set up.
-
The height of the fingers in the clutch is too much. It has to be brought back down with a thicker steel plate. Check the proper thickness for the clutch pack. One plate is cheaper than a new set!
-
If you had spark before the rebuild I would suspect the ground.

I have to agree more with Zippy every time I read his posts. I am for no stop mainly to get rid of the all day dab. (Formally a 5 since you are no longer riding!! All these `new` riders whining about getting a 5. Try actually being in control.)
My son plays basketball. (All year!) I think the chest pound the refs do while counting could easily be adopted to our sport. It would be fair, seen by all and easily taught to a scorer. My opinion would be a three count for any stop of forward motion. It would take away a quick five, give the rider a chance to continue and everyone watching would know when the 5 would be called. Foot down or not. Three seconds and go or die!
-
So where are you riding your new creation? Looks great, but for what purpose.
-
Well the only thing you did not mention is if you are getting fuel. Here is some other posts that may help. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/43781-my-new-1975-montesa-cota-247-pics-hot-starting-problems-its-my-first-two-stroke/

The reason most bikes don`t have a drain is because an air leak would be quite expensive. Years ago when we had deep water sections they where a life saver to get going again!.
-
You should check the float level. But I would never kick a bike that much. Yes, you flooded the cylinder. The trouble is a wet plug will not spark! Trials bike or not.
