  1. 102-105 main and 38 pilot. And yes it only goes up from the staging area. Easy on the rear brakes coming down, I`ve seen them overheat badly. Don`t forget to use the throttle on the long down hill slopes as you can stick a piston real easy. Seen guys ride from top to bottom without any throttle and wonder why the bike lost power. It`s almost like running a 2 stroke without oil. It`s a good trials area and we are having a 2 day event this weekend. Hope you are in shape. Walking sections at 9000 ft is the hardest part.
  2. Let`s See , the thirty day rule has been around for maybe a couple of decades. Maybe as long as the last time Lane rode a national. The dates and rules have been correctly posted since at least the first of the year, on the same website to which you want instant results. Tonight the highway to Pueblo was closed due to a wreck with a tanker, so that`s why you havn`t heard much. I Too stayed home and worked this weekend. Mainly because I`m scoring at our event this year and can`t make six events otherwise. By the way most clubs can only get insurance thru the AMA to hold their events in the first place.
  3. If you are not there, then waiting a day or two is not going to matter much. If you have been to the trials site you would know most people are sandwiched in like sardines. With most people having 30` plus trailers and such nowadays no body is travelin` far for internet access. I know I can`t get an answer to people there. So cell service is limited. Everybody pretty much had their hands full considering all the recent changes (Cliff had taken care of alot on his own). And regard to your other post and pre-entry. The hosting club needs to know expected turnout ,classes, awards(which usually takes more than two weeks). Champ was won by patrick today again.
  4. First I would ask Geoff himself. Did he have fun? What he thought of the best trials on earth. Was it his first scottish? Will he return again? Did he think he prepared enough. Does he even care his position. It would be good if we could get our riders over there more often. But the Scottish is a trial with it`s own soul. How many first time riders break into the top 30%. How many enter and get turned down every year? Most riders seem happy just to finish, some just for the time off work. For years it has not attracted the factory riders at all. When was the last time Doug, Adam, and Fuji rode it? It has been great to see the new crop of riders doing so well. The top 5 have stayed so consistant all week. The next few years should see good results in the WTC. But will they return to the scottish?
  5. Call your local motorcycle shop. Ask if they are a tucker rocky dealer. Try part # 19-5203. retail is $2.99. 520 connecting link kit.
  6. In `92 the parts would be hard to get. Great bike though to add to a collection, not to be beat up weekly.
  7. Have been riding Beta since 1992 and never had an electrical failure. (seven rev3) We also have never seen a stator go bad in our local club. We also seldom have water sections or much moisture. Have always wondered if it was somehow related.
  8. Erase that thought. Never think it again unless you want a push bike!

    Clutch Woes

Is it the old txt engine or the pro? If it is the txt chances are that you have adjusted it too far in and now the piston in the master cylinder can not work properly. try backing it out most of the way.
  10. A 4.10 tire actually = a 3.50 size. It is measured across the outside radius vs actual width. It should still probaby fit.
  11. All brands today are sooooo much better than they used to be.( I still can`t figure out why the wind in New Mexico blows West to east. But I do have my my hunches!) The Beta is art, Gas Gas is the PRO, Sherco has RYP, And Honda has always made the best 4 stroke! You must be having a bad start to this year with all the brands doing so well!!
  12. You can actually buy the pieces to fit the domino throttle. Add a cable type adjuster from a clutch or brake perch. (screw it into the throttle housing). Add a gas gas throttle cable. Maybe any brand trials? Also the top tube adjustment from a pro carb, which happens to screw into the top of a yamaha carb. It`s about 4 inches too long but sure beats making cables!
  13. Before going any further, I suggest taking it to a good Gas Gas mechanic. You want someone that is familiar with this transmission. Now if you`d rather spend a lot of time on this, the Pro motor is easy to disasemble. You did not mention if the shift spring was broke, and also check the piece that fits over the shaft. The little tab that rides in the end of the shaft can break loose and spin, so check it carefully. Good luck!
  14. Leggins, chances are your kick start return problem is due to a bad gasket and or over tightened bolts on the primary cover. (clutch cover) I`ve never seen a bad return spring on a Beta.
  15. If my memory is correct. Hydrocloric acid will remove or help to flake off the aluminum. Somebody on this forum will confirm or correct my thoughts.
  16. Drain the fuel tank and the carb. Mix up a fresh batch of fuel, also try a brand new plug. If that does not cure it, remove the flywheel and check to see if the woodruf key is sheared or not. Also do a search on this forum for Beta stators and the like. Hopefully you just fouled a plug. Good Luck.

    Beta Carburetors

You really can not compare a 200 to a 280. Huge difference between bikes no matter what brand. The carb thing is a 20-30 minute fix for those fortunate to visit this site that`s full of info on the subject. The price is about right, but everything is buyer beware on used equipment no matter how clean. The Beta 200 is a great clubman bike with very tractable power. The 280 is quick, agile and full of pep. Go find a slick section and the Beta would be your bike of choice. Anything else and the `06 gasser would always feel better. Otherwise compare 200`s to 200`s. Good luck bike hunting!! PS The carb thing is about fuel spilling out. Not actually carburation as one would think.
  18. If you have three grand you should find a good `04 model. At least buy a 2003. With your background you would adapt to a GAS Gas just fine. If I had a hopping type riding style the gas gas or sherco would be my choice. The Montesa and Beta are more of a stable ride with both having better build quality. No matter what you find, you`ll have a great time with the wyoming club.

    Beta Problem

I wouldn`t be so quick to agree without a proper look at the carb or the condition of the whole bike. Some people can destroy a solid machine pretty fast. Unless you got top dollar, a used machine is a used machine. But to make everybody happy a 50/50 split might make everyone sleep better. These things are always hard and no matter what somebody feels used.
  20. Rounds 1-2 May 26, 27 Cotopaxi, CO Rounds 3-4 June 16, 17 Tenn-TTC Rounds 5-6 June 23, 24 Enon, Ohio Rounds 7-8 August 4, 5 Donner CA Rounds 9-10 August 11, 12 Sipapu Ski Area, NM
  21. You are right! They have been changed on the website. I`ll make a call and find out when & why. `world round june 9 & 10 Japan`
  22. Best solution is to remove it. Quite a few people run without it anyhow.
  23. Can`t stand it I have to say it. How many of you helmet have to bee`s drive a car? How many wear a helmet when you drive said car? How many drivers die of head injuries a year? Race car drivers all wear helmets. They never do on the way home. I learned to ride without a helmet, I learned to drive without a helmet. Luckily every time I needed a helmet I had one on. It`s all about choice, and pretty soon we might lose that too. By the way Bell helmets would of made a fortune if 4 of them came with every new vehicle!!
  24. quick check, look to see if the shifter is catching on the engine case bolt. smaller case bolt or rebending the shifter is a quick fix.
  25. Double Check the choke circuit for any blockages. The Pilot jet does have more affect at low throttle, but most people do not realize the pilot is always `on` no matter if you are running wide open.
