  1. You can actually buy the pieces to fit the domino throttle. Add a cable type adjuster from a clutch or brake perch. (screw it into the throttle housing). Add a gas gas throttle cable. Maybe any brand trials? Also the top tube adjustment from a pro carb, which happens to screw into the top of a yamaha carb. It`s about 4 inches too long but sure beats making cables!
  2. Before going any further, I suggest taking it to a good Gas Gas mechanic. You want someone that is familiar with this transmission. Now if you`d rather spend a lot of time on this, the Pro motor is easy to disasemble. You did not mention if the shift spring was broke, and also check the piece that fits over the shaft. The little tab that rides in the end of the shaft can break loose and spin, so check it carefully. Good luck!
  3. Leggins, chances are your kick start return problem is due to a bad gasket and or over tightened bolts on the primary cover. (clutch cover) I`ve never seen a bad return spring on a Beta.
  4. If my memory is correct. Hydrocloric acid will remove or help to flake off the aluminum. Somebody on this forum will confirm or correct my thoughts.
  5. Drain the fuel tank and the carb. Mix up a fresh batch of fuel, also try a brand new plug. If that does not cure it, remove the flywheel and check to see if the woodruf key is sheared or not. Also do a search on this forum for Beta stators and the like. Hopefully you just fouled a plug. Good Luck.

    Beta Carburetors

You really can not compare a 200 to a 280. Huge difference between bikes no matter what brand. The carb thing is a 20-30 minute fix for those fortunate to visit this site that`s full of info on the subject. The price is about right, but everything is buyer beware on used equipment no matter how clean. The Beta 200 is a great clubman bike with very tractable power. The 280 is quick, agile and full of pep. Go find a slick section and the Beta would be your bike of choice. Anything else and the `06 gasser would always feel better. Otherwise compare 200`s to 200`s. Good luck bike hunting!! PS The carb thing is about fuel spilling out. Not actually carburation as one would think.
  7. If you have three grand you should find a good `04 model. At least buy a 2003. With your background you would adapt to a GAS Gas just fine. If I had a hopping type riding style the gas gas or sherco would be my choice. The Montesa and Beta are more of a stable ride with both having better build quality. No matter what you find, you`ll have a great time with the wyoming club.

    Beta Problem

I wouldn`t be so quick to agree without a proper look at the carb or the condition of the whole bike. Some people can destroy a solid machine pretty fast. Unless you got top dollar, a used machine is a used machine. But to make everybody happy a 50/50 split might make everyone sleep better. These things are always hard and no matter what somebody feels used.

  10. You are right! They have been changed on the website. I`ll make a call and find out when & why. `world round june 9 & 10 Japan`
  11. Best solution is to remove it. Quite a few people run without it anyhow.
  12. Can`t stand it I have to say it. How many of you helmet have to bee`s drive a car? How many wear a helmet when you drive said car? How many drivers die of head injuries a year? Race car drivers all wear helmets. They never do on the way home. I learned to ride without a helmet, I learned to drive without a helmet. Luckily every time I needed a helmet I had one on. It`s all about choice, and pretty soon we might lose that too. By the way Bell helmets would of made a fortune if 4 of them came with every new vehicle!!
  13. quick check, look to see if the shifter is catching on the engine case bolt. smaller case bolt or rebending the shifter is a quick fix.
  14. Double Check the choke circuit for any blockages. The Pilot jet does have more affect at low throttle, but most people do not realize the pilot is always `on` no matter if you are running wide open.
  15. Get a test ride on a steep slippery hill with a beta and a sherco 290. The Sherco feels great until you start looking for traction, and the rev3 has always tracked well.
  16. If you just replaced the vent hose try to run without them. seen it done more than I can count!
  17. Usually when all this happens the main bearings have gone bad. Try moving the crank to see if you have movement. You do not want to install a new stator and flywheel without replacing the mains.
  18. It takes 1000ml. The small screw on the clutch cover that is just behind the shifter is the level indicator.
  19. Kids are getting big on this side of the pond. My eight year old is 4`11``and almost 110lb. Karate 3 times a week. Mountain bike , rides his monty daily and rides trials. I`m hoping for an expert by 11 or 12! This cc thing by age might consider size also.
  20. Lewis GG your correct replacing the base gasket could fix the leak, but you need to learn how a 2 stroke engine works. Niether the cylinder or flywheel side have gearbox oil in them. The leak is most likely a fuel leak, so yes it is oil. 2 stroke mix.

    Checking Fan

remove the two wires to the thermostat. somehow tie together. The fan should run constantly. If this works it should be the thermostat. If it does not run, try to push start the fan. Chances are it is the fan as with age they do quit. It could also be the stator or anything in between.

    Gas Gas Clutch

    which putoline did you use?
  23. Most of us have more sense to drive 2500+ miles for a one day event. Now if it was in Donner, Everyone would have been smilin`. Just ask the riders. Party in Reno all weekend in dry heat or ride in 80% humidity and no night life?
  24. Since nobody else responded, here goes. I`m 90% sure 36-48-10.5 which are available aftermarket, but the stock seals worked the best. They come apart with the clip above the seal removed or in this case below.
  25. Replace it with a steel one!
