  1. Not to be negative Adamd, but as Dad`s we seem to expect more out of our kids. At 7 years old the kid just wants to be out and about. Not really into an event, but is ok with being there. My kid drove me nuts till I figured out just to let him do what he wants. Every kid I have seen go the electric route seems to disappear. My kid started on the PW 50 at 3 and was on the Beta mini trial before five, which lasted about a year. Went through 2 ty 80`s and then the full size gas gas 80. About twelve he started riding full size bikes. Point is he was about 14 years old when he actually started to enjoy riding an event. At 15 he just took off and could actually ride. It was after 12 years of riding trials that he actually looked were he was going, not seeing who was scoring and who was watching and taking videos. Point is enjoy your kid, have fun with it. Just don`t expect him to take to trials like a duck does to water. My son`s 19 now and one of our club`s best riders. Best part is he is my best riding buddy. Enjoy it while you can.
  2. Free play is a likely problem. It`s also possible the bolt for the lever is in a bind and every time you pull the lever it tightens the bolt. So you pull the lever and it locks in place. Very bad feeling.
  3. The Technos brakes were always terrible. The best way to bleed them would be to take the whole system off the bike and hang the caliper above the m/c and use a Philips to pump it. You are wasting your time with the vacuum bleeder. Just use the vacuum for a reservoir to bleed too. Before hand get a caliper rebuild kit, it`s not for leaks. That brake system had rubber grommets that would wear out causing the caliper to rock back and forth. Did I mention they suck.
  4. You already have a programmable throttle body?
  5. I think they came with an 11t cs sprocket. A ten would help.
  6. Usually just the grin on your face as they are great fun just to ride.
  7. The Ohlins is very simple to work on. You might find a local shop that could do it. It might make it easier for any service it needs down the road. The only special tool is a needle valve and access to a nitrogen bottle.
  8. Love it, but you are doing it wrong. Leave Friday morning (Or Saturday) and get there when you can and come home Sunday night or Monday since you are retired. Here in New Mexico that is the way we ride trials. The camping is the best part.
  9. I was twelve years old, my Dad drug me along and said you have to try this. I won the Novice class with two points. I was hooked for life at that moment.

  11. The one is a pressure relief valve. Interesting that there are two different size washers available. Adjustment by shim thickness? Have no idea about the other until I pull a motor apart.
  12. We have had several riders that overfilled the bikes, make sure it`s in the sight glass. I also got more oil out tilting the bike far to each side with everything removed.
  13. Looks to me like the stop bolt at the master cylinder is too short as the lever sits too far out causing the plunger to come about.
  14. It`s 1.02 from partszilla. Or just make one from cardboard from a beer box.
  15. Just go buy an o ring kit at the auto parts store or harbor freight.
  16. The owners/service manual shows where. Drain bolt under skid plate, oil filter on right hand case and same bolt on the bottom of each side case which also have two screen type filters. You have do them all. Careful not to overfill, use the sight glass. Seems right around 700 cc.
  17. It`s not the tire, it`s the rim. But it`s cheaper to buy the tire. We have 4 2016`s at work with Dunlops and have never had a flat.

    Cold starting.

You do know that the pilot flows through two different holes. One directly in the bottom of the slide and one in front of the slide, both have to be clear.

    Cold starting.

Clean the pilot circuit in the carb. The pilot jet is probably plugged.

  21. Remember if you do the same thing over and over and get the same results, try a different approach.
  22. Read the manual and you will see it`s std on these bikes. A meter is best, but by ear it`s a too fast idle. I don`t ride one, but we have 8 of them at work.
  23. Nothing wrong with the maps. Are you running the 1800 rpm idle speed. That`s usually the problem.
  24. First off I hope you did not get oil on the fresh pads. If you did they are ruined. So put the old pads back in until you get it bleed. Take the caliper off the bike and bleed it with a clear hose. Hang the caliper high and keep the m/c at the lowest point. You might have to stop and refill the m/c. Remember to put something between the pad s so the pucks do not push out. This is the best way to get all the air out. You can take the whole thing off the bike and hang it in your garage.
