If your not planning on putting it on the road, most people get rid of the speedo drive and replace it with a spacer. I think I used 20:50 in the gear box and atf in primary.

Yes, possibly when cold. Then breakdown as heats up. The condenser is partly to prevent the points getting burnt, so might be worth changing them as well.

Ignorance is bliss, I bet you didn't know they were crap before reading this thread ... How many ssdt's has it done, 2 or 3 ?

Try a new (correct) spark plug. Is old plug wet or dry ? Timing out, does it cough / kick ?

What's wrong with the current map ?
  12. You rip classic bikes to shreds, but take everything so personally. Don't give it if you can't take it.
  13. Next time you buy a bike take a mechanically minded friend, not Stevie Wonder.
  14. Sounds typical of a bike needing a carb clean, good news. Bikes of that age tend to hold their value, assuming you haven't paid over the odds. You can always sell it on if you don't like it.
  15. Take the plug out, does it spark ? Put some petrol down the plug hole, does it start and run, even for a few seconds ? Take it from there (if its a tlr )
  16. Probably connect to black going to coil.
  17. I've heard this stated many times, what noticeable difference would it make having the correctly rated unit ? I have used car condensors, and original fitment units, and in use there is no perceptible change in performance or longevity of components.

  22. If you ride 1 finger on the clutch, I'd go for light, otherwise standard.
  23. 250 or 325 ?

Couple of things to do, check the kick start is tight on the shaft, take the plastic pipe on the gear box fill and extend it up under the tank, fit a pipe to the breather on the flywheel and again take it up under tank.
