  1. I picked up your gauntlet ...
  2. Guy I use for re-bores uses a closer tolerance for customers who run in engines "sympathetically" Makes for a much quieter engine.
  3. @cub200, " I only comment on these sites when I have something constructive to say. " Hardly constructive, or accurate !

    250 B carb

I'm surprised no one has tried a Dellorto, almost standard fit on Bultaco's these days.
  5. Doesn't answer the question. Did you inform the purchaser you were suspected it could be faulty ? "Can anyone tell me if this problem was rampant or was I just unlucky getting a couple from a bad batch, I have always been afraid to use the other one that I bought off him."
  6. @cub200 think your silence speaks volumes.

@pmk have a look at the suspension above.
  11. Just noticed this just now @pmk. IMO, a well handling t/s or pre65 will have lighter damping and lighter springs than back in the day. This combined with tyre carcasses that are far more flexible make them easier to ride and improve grip dramatically.
  12. Learning to use the clutch in sections gives you an advantage. There are many sections where there is no "right" gear, slippery conditions, or a tight turn onto a steep climb etc. Persevere with getting the clutch right, it will make you a better rider.

    How is it progressing ?
  14. Might be worth ditching all fuel in case it is contaminated.
  15. Helicoil is good, an alternative is http://www.timesert.com
  16. Can't argue with that, but some carbs really benefit from regular cleaning (petrol screw Dellorto) while amal's are more tolerant. Learning to maintain the bike is a necessity for reliability and cost saving.
  17. "Sealed unit" what are the vent hoses for ? Dirt and water can enter through the air filter, so sealing that is also a routine maintenance task.
  18. Did you tell the purchaser of the potential problems when selling it ?
