  1. Best bet is to replace it with a Mikuni or I like the Dellorto jetted for a GasGas 125. The dellorto gives sharper pick up compared to the Mikuni ( not sharp compared to a modern bike!). The 200 came with both mark 1 and mark 2 concetrics, yours is the mark 2. ian
  2. I had to get my piston from Southwest Montesa in the USA, I think it was about £120 ish. I got it sent to a friend over there and he sent it to me a a gift to avoid import tax. Ian
  3. I like buying privately as you can talk to the owner and quiz him on what events he does, what maintenance is carried out etc. also if you look around his garage and see a good few spares, bottles of oils and a well equipped tool box it gives you confidence that the bike has been looked after!

    280I Tickover Speed

Just wondering does the Ossa need a fast tick over like the 4rt? I quite fancy one but I like my bikes set to just tick over. Ian
  7. Had a set on a cota 200, much better than the standard Betors
  8. Anyone know the start time for tomorrow's trial at Hags Gill?
  9. Cota 200 is a reasonably priced twin shock, easy to start and grip well. But you need a good one!!!
  10. No they didn't have one from new, you could get one that bolted on to the engine. I fitted a universal one from trials bits on mine, it bolts on to the rear engine mount bracket with a suitable spacer.
  11. Falcons work well on my 200, better than Betors but £50 more!
  12. Cosmetically finished, after 2 years use!
  13. Mont 200 in action. (Just wanted to see if I could post a photo really)
  14. I like my new scissor lift too!

    Mont Mh123

I use 175ml of 7.5wt fork oil in the forks, the book says 200ml of 10wt fork oil but I am using magicals springs and weigh about 10.5 stone! Ian
  16. Check the choke isn't sticking but is most likely the float height is too hi letting too much fuel into the float bowl, if you have a look on the beta forum there is loads of info about float setting!! Ian

    Brake Secrets

Just fitted over size shoes from Villiers Services to my Cota 200, as the drum measured nearly 126mm rather than 125mm (I should have had a new liner fitted before I had the wheel rebuilt!!), Any way the new shoes fitted just a but too snugly so I machined a tiny bit off them and all looks fine, an initial test seemed good easily locking the front wheel on wet block paving with out any bedding in. The real test will be when they are fully wet!!! I think what helps is that the shoes are a very close match to the drum diameter and the linings are a soft trials specific lining. I normally use a longer arm but due to the tightness of the new shoes I couldn't get the cable to reach but all works well with the standard arm. I have been using EBC pads and have only swapped cos I have ran out of adjustment, the standard brakes work fine in most sections and very rarely cost me marks.....I must be thinking ahead!!!!!
  18. Well a flywheel weight has been fitted (its just a bit heavier than stock now) its better but not as good as the points system!!!! I get a good white / light blue spark from the HT lead that will jump about 10mm when turning the engine over with a windy gun, I just feel its a bit weak a low rpm. Should I be using a different type of plug? I am using a BPR6ES at the moment? I was wondering if the new electronic spark is shorter and unable to cope with not quite perfect carburation like the old points system can? I think I have just got an expensive white elephant!!!!
  19. The new flywheel is about 500g lighter, I dont think the weight is the issue as a couple of times i have opened the throttle just as it was about to stall and it just goes borrrrrrrrrrrrrr and stops!! I will ad a weight just too see what happens though!
  20. Just picked up a second hand electronic ignition kit for my Cota 200, its one of the Motoplat kits like the ones on the france Classic Trial web site and I was wondering if any one else is using one? I have fitted it but the spark looks weak and when riding around slowly every so often it just stalls!! I have tried different carbs (new Mikuni and Dellorto) so it is not a carb problem and of course plugs, I also fitted the old points system and all is ok. I know the flywheel is a lot lighter but that shouldn't let it stall!?!?! Its more like it cuts out rather than stalls and will start easily straight away with one kick. The main reason for changing to electronic was for reliability and a quicker pickup Any thoughts??? One interesting thing is the Dellorto I tried was straight off a 125 Gas Gas and (with the points ignition fitted) it ran better than with the new Mikuni I bought last year!!! Ian
  21. (especially the hill after about section 4 on the Friday)?? And the endless rocky gully just before dinner on Sunday

  24. Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a gear change shaft with damaged pawls going spare??? I've got one sheared off flush!!! and was wondering if I could buy one with damaged pawls (as they normally break if the shear pin doesn't work) I would then make a good one out of the pair. What makes it worse I have thrown a damaged one out a couple of years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Ian
