    Scorpa 250 4t

Whats all the fuss about these heavy 4 stroke lumps?? They are just the emperors new clothes! A couple of years ago would anyone consider buying a bike 5Kgs heavier than the best of the rest?(nearly a stone!!!!!!!!!!!).
  2. I got rid of the rubber donut by machining a ally spacer clamped to the carb, as its a bit longer the air box is really easy to refit. Ian
  3. iT ALWAYS PAYS TO PUT A BIT OF LOCTITE THEAD LOCK ON THE SPLINES WHEN FITTING THE GEAR LVERS ON PRO'S
  4. Try pouring boiling water over it! The ally nut should expand and then break any corrosion

    Year 2000 Txt 249

I had one, it was little used when I bought it i had it for about 2 years with no major faults at all. I thought it was an exellent beginners bike with good suspension, smooth power and a really good hillclimb bike. My friend has it now and it still performs reliably despite a severe lack of maintenance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ian

    Rear Suspension

Don't forget you can adjust the damping!!! Theres a screw with an 8mm head at the base of the shock screw it out to soften the damping.

    Exhaust System

My 04 300 has the std ally center box wheras my mates has the steel box (its "I didnt do the Scott" Jenkinism's old bike), and my bike is much easier to ride for a less than average rider. Just a thought before ypu go for thr steel box!!!

    Fork Spring Removal

Right here goes from memory!!! Once you have unscrewed the big nut on the top of the fork leg you can slide down the inner fork leg you can then see a piece of plastic tube and below this the spring. Now you will need to make a large washer woth a 10 mm slot in it, you can then pull down the plastic tube and spring and slide the slotted washer in below the locknut on the cartridge spindle. The big nut on the top of the fork leg can then be removed, push down on the spring again pul out the washer and the spring can be removed. Hope this makes sense but pictures would be better!!!
  10. Try and go as recent as posible, avoid the old scorpas they are heavy and outdated, A Techno would be OK, best bet would be 2000 gasgas 250 good suspension and exellent power delivery!!
  11. Stockton struggles aswell, they may be OK now I have shown them wot to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Right heres the cost effective way Create a text box in microsoft word type in reg no and colour the box yellow then print out (you could use yellow paper if youre posh). cut out and stick to mudguard with whatever you can see in your garage! finally water proof with something Ive used yacht varnish before!! Or you could laminate it at work (that is if you can). You would be surprised how long the varnished version lasts up to 3 months if you wash carfully!!! Ian

  15. I took my V55/4 and a cert of newness and the cert of conformity from Gasgas UK to my local licencing office (not me in person though) the first time I was given a single vehicle approval form to fill in!!! (these are for kit cars). The next time they thought it was too old as the date on the cert of newness was for august and they want to inspect the bike!!!! Any thoughts??? Can you just post the documents to them to save wasted journeys? Thanks Ian

    99/2000

My 2000 model was one of the best bikes Ive had, Ideal for a beginner or a clubman . exellent suspension, nice smooth power, 6 usable gears and good reliability in fact good enough to sell to a friend who is still using the bike now! It pays to find one in top condition, mine was as new when I bought it and I kept it well maintained (Its new owner just seems to ride and wash it though!!)
  21. Its all psychological ! as long as you THINK you are on the best bike you'll ride better!

    Oil Level

    Al will be right!!!
  23. Ive just swapped my 02 scorpa for an 04 300pro (June this year), I find the Pro a much better all round bike to ride being lighter, more responsive, a much better clutch and riding position. As for reliability ive had no problems with either bike but I do spend time in the workshop. The pro air box uses a different method to other bikes, it is the Motocross type with the filter covering the air intake pipe to the carb so if the air box does get abit dirty or wet it wont reach the engine. Any water can drain out of the bottom! Ive had no over heating on my 300 so the 250 should be OK. IKB
