  1. I use fully synthetic oil like Castrol TTS or Putoline TT Trial Pro. and run my 04 250 at 75:1.
  2. ACU trials registration is Jan to Dec. and no day licences. I would wait till Jan if you want to save money but its only a tenner so you may think its worth while paying. If you have an ACU licence for MX then next year you can add trials registration to it for free. If anyone joins our club in November it will continue into the new full year, We are soooooo generous
  3. My first choice is Renthal
  4. 'First trial, just aim for a finish an enjoy it and I bet you won't be last!' There you go I was right! You have to put in a lot more effort to come last
  5. If you think you will fall off and entertain everyone charge em all for a ticket first First trial, just aim for a finish an enjoy it and I bet you won't be last!
  6. Welcome to TC. Have a look in the 'Bike Specific Forums' there is an Ossa section, hopefully you may find some help there link http://www.trialscen.../forum/73-ossa/ I like the Topic tittle, is there one for Gas Gas? You may think your a crap rider but competition for the worst is very fierce and I guarantee you won't ever manage it
  7. Welcome to TC. Have a look on the ACU website, Prety much all you need to do is join a club then you can apply for a trials registration, then tip up for an event where you would like to fall off! Become addicted, learn skills and get better and then still fall off. Here is a link to the clubs around your area http://www.acu.org.uk/Centres-Clubs/centre.aspx?id=8
  8. Bet that looks a long way down if you dare to look! Helmet Cam next time
  9. I use an old pair of acerbis light weight shin/knee guards under Mx pants. I realise they must be old as they are no longer in the catalogue but they have some similar. Acerbis Profile Knee Guards Ref Number: 9924 I would at least recommend some hard plastic protection. Have a look at Dirtbikexpress
  10. I use an old pair of acerbis light weight shin/knee guards under Mx pants. I realise they must be old as they are no longer in the catalogue but they have some similar to those FoxTitan ones. I would recommend some hard plastic protection.
  11. 'Shiro' helmets are very popular, I bought mine for £50. 3+1/2 years ago and still doing well.
  12. What year is yours? Wet & Dry settings are on a switch but only on 2006 model onwards. Only models with Kokusan ignition units fitted, Ducati ignition does not have it.
  13. What Like Button! I've not got one either. Has it been replaced by the 5stars rating at the top? I've not noticed that before.
  14. It's a kick in the town halls for anyone ! The Scum took both of mine last March I know how you feel. The trend seems to be Tuesday & Wednesday nights, Did they close things up to make it look less obvious anything had happened?
  15. Dave Cooper makes several versions; Junior, Car, Van or Motorhome, 4x4, Basically the difference is how much clearance they leave between your bike and the back of your vehicle. If you have a spare wheel on your Disco' the 4x4 is for you. Kliponoff racks (now Pendle) only make one size.
  16. I used a heat blower gun and it soffened the rubber boot from the air box tightened the clip on the back of the carb then I used the heat gun again when pulling the carb to the motor inlet.

    Rear Tyre Valve

You can get steel dust caps that have a rubber seal in them. I have one and it works but the tyre leaks through one spoke nipple so it goes flat after a week.

    Front Wheel

To take the wheel out take off the caliper and disc guard then undo the spindle nut then all 4 pinchbolts. Putting the wheel back tighten the pinchbolts on the brake side to stop the spindle turning just lightly nip the pinchbolts on tthe other side when you tighten the end nut then fully tighten the remaining pinchbolts.

    Front Wheel

Should be 2 pinch bolts on each side.(4 total)
  20. Tidy and functional is what you need when starting out, for the price you won't be too worried about wrecking it (I am sure you will). I had a 2010 250 that got nicked and just replaced it with an 04 there are some things I find easier to do on this than on the newer one. so a lot depends on personal preference. For the price you've not done bad but I agree the description was wrong. You can pay a lot more for worse, Hope you feel better for this, now get out with the rest of us and throw it at rocks LOL
  21. Yes you must mix 2 stroke oil with your fuel. Use a 5 litre plastic fuel can, fill with unleaded and add oil then give it a shake. Best to check but I think your model runs at 50:1 ratio that is 100ml oil in 5 litres petrol. Later models (Pro) can run a more lean 75:1 ratio is 67ml oil to 5 litres. Brake pads manufacturers; Galfer, Dunlopad (DP), EBC. are all good. I would take your old ones to the shop to be sure of the correct shape/size.
  22. I repaired a tyre with a Plug Patch but the rubber on the inside of the tyre is so thin its hard to prepare the surface without exposing the canvas and it leaked. You should get away with using an innertube and reinforce the tyre so the tube is not exposed through the gash. but to repair a punctured tube you would have take the tyre off the bead and we all know what a pleasure that is.
  23. Those tyre beaders are awesome they make tyre changing a pleasure, after messing with pushbike innertubes and ratchet straps. Mr Dabster is right new tyres straight from the shop will just pop on. Club together with your mates and buy one between you. Detergents have a high salt content especialy cheap ones to thicken them up but is mainly the Caustic that attacks alluminium. The hard Annodised surface is very resilient at first but once it gets through it will react much faster. I used Fairy to lube the Mousses on my enduro bike and it took nearly seven years before it was noticeable, frends who used cheap stuff had holes in their rims within one year. Note your rim must be perfectly clean, smooth, shiny and the tyre should slip on the bead nicely. keep your fingers out!!!!
