Hi! I have a 1998 290 Easy. I love the bike but the gear is very notchy and the clutch drags badly, especially when cold. Anyone knows what type of oil or what oil viscosity should I use for better clutch and gear action ? I understand that only three out of the five clutch spring are used in this bike. Would adding the missing two springs in the pressure plate have any negative effects on a bike that is used solely for trail riding ? Thanks, Efi.

When I go from steep down to steep up in one action, my foot presses the rear brake lever by accident, which as you can imagine isn't ideal. SO I decided to look at lowering the height of the pedal. Before doing this I noticed that the 5mm bolt and lock nut on top of the arm didn't actually do anything. It looks as if it should hold the lever down by resting on the swing arm pivot, it is 15mm too far away. It is a simple job to put a longer bolt in and adjust the actuator pin in to give a lower height. If I adjust the arm down, it will be even further away. I can't believe it is meant to be like this. Does anyone know? Thanks for your help. Pete

I bought my SY 175F new in March of this year, and it has always smoked on starting. It came with a manual clutch as they were having problems with the Magura hydraulic clutches, after a letter to Scorpa and a long wait finnally got Magura clutch (please no alternative suggestions very pleased with the Magura) But the bike was still smoking after a lot of emails and phone calls to my dealer. The replacement piston rings arrived next problem getting my bike back to the dealer as I live in the north island of New Zealand and the dealer is in the south island, managed to get it taken to the Taranaki national to which the dealer was riding and bringing other bikes etc so …

I have just purchaced an immaculate 04 sy250 previously ridden by a clubman, unfortuatly here in western australia, having the only SY does pose a problem. What are the pit falls on this machine, the tank does look more vunerable than the others makes (especially the way I ride)does anyone produce a tank cover as such? or do I just endevour not to stack it! Ive noticed various aftermaket add ons for the bike, exhaust gaurd, bashplate and water pump protector. How many of you guys have burnt your legs, sheared the water pump or slid side ways off a log? are these add ons essential or just nice to have? Any recommendations on any add ons or mods that will assist me before I…

A lad sent me this yesterday, should get you Scorpa boys excited. All the Japanese championship last game northeast conferences, at the meeting place of sport land SUGO, Japanese first release and SY250F were released. This machine, still it is not completion state with prototype, but the thinking where the Yamaha staff is hot make actualize it is something which the ス コ ル pas that and there is also the visiting Japan of スコルパ president, would like showing that form to the Japanese trial fan by all means. Not only showing simply, you say) to unite with charge construction, that with the notion that where, we would like to have hearing also sound by all means, the engine…

I have a Scorpa Easy 280 with a Rotax engine. It was running fine and then just cut out, after checking the plug etc. I just could not get a spark. I contacted the dealer to find out the best way forward but no good unless I am prepared to replace all the electrics a bit at a time. Has anyone out there got any history with such a problem? J.S.

Hello All, Brand new to this forum... - tried to introduce myself and couldn't - searched for my topic without any success? so here goes... I have a 2002 SY250 and I want to know if I can drill out the two rear brass inserts in the airbox, the ones that hold the fender on. I'd like to put 2 zap-straps (zip-ties) through the holes but I'm not sure how much material is available before hitting the air chamber if drilled out. One of the inserts has its threads destroyed, possibly by a previous owner. Any info or direction would be appreciated.

A mate of mine has an 04 scorpa. At the weekend it devolped a clutch problem, the lever would not pull in more than half way,on inspection the arm that goes into the engine was catching on the casing,it looks as though it has dropped down about 5mm and the plunger out of the slave cylinder is not in line.Has anyone had this problem and if so what is required to fix it.Also does anyone know where we can get a parts diagram from. Thanks.
