Hi, I'm just about to get my frist trials bike after green laning for some years. I've decided on a Scorpa, but which one? I'm a novice; 12 stone in weight. I had fancied a long rider but wasn't sure. Are they easy to work on/service? Cheers,

Does anyone know what size the thread is of the plug SY175, as the bike wouldn't start, 1st time this has happened decided to try the plug from my grandaughter' Z50 which is also the same size 16mm socket. The bike fired up OK then But on reffiting the plug to Z50 nearly cross threaded, so need a tap to clean the thread I believe its a 1/2"x 26 threads per inch? I will have to get a spare plug, do I have to stick to the CR7 HSA as we are just coming into winter here in NZ. I thought the plug on my TL125 was bad enough but the Yamaha one is smaller still

After taking a short test ride on the 02 Scorpa, I bought it. The engine fired right up cold and ran great. Over all the bike is in good repair. Our local dealer rode it for a season as a demo bike. The second owner installed a long ride kit and used it for trail riding. Already taking it apart for cleaning and a going over. I'm sure there will be questions along the way. Looking forward to chatting with the Scorpa crowd.

I'm giving serious consideration to buying a 2002 Scorpa. The bike comes with the long ride kit too. I rode a 2000 model that had been riden very hard. The Yamaha engine on the 00 bike had a wonderful (to me) power delivery. The particular bike I rode had a severely bent footpeg, so it was hard to evaluate turning etc. Hoping to get some feedback from other owners. I'm well into middle age and ride the easy lines. Have previously owned a 2000 GasGas TXT280, and liked the steering and ergonomics. How does the Scorpa compare to the GG, ergonomics/suspension wise? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I have a minter 03 Scorpa SY250. Love the bike but just cant seem to find a suspension set up (probably cos i havn't a clue) Picking up previous advice to others from this forum it sounds like the standard setting are as good as any, but alas as i didn't inheret the owners manual when i purchased the bike can anyone help and advise the standard settings for front and rear?? Remember reading the TMX Scorpa test report where Woody was waxing lyrical about Crossers springy set up, which is what i am searching for so any hot tips greatly appreciated??

Hi all, I noticed on my SY that the Domino throttle seems to be white (there's a small cut on the grip so I can't say for sure), this is the faster throttle, right? Seems strange though because the bike is not what I would call "zippy" as would be expected with the faster acting throttle. I'm I right in assuming that the SY's are fitted with a fast throttle from new then?

Managed to strip the threads on all 3 of the front axle pinch bolts located on the right hand fork stanchion. Two striped with ease which left one, that went too. A Heli-coil insert fixed it but it was all to easy to strip the threads. Just thought you all might want to know so maybe you can avoid doing the same.

I am looking at a 1994 Scorpa but cannot find either engine of frame number. Headstock does not have a number in it, and the finish looks really good, no evidence of grinding, polishing or filling of numbers. Need to know where these numbers are on these bikes before I buy it. Cheers, Jan

One of my old riding buddies from where I used to live is lost without his underpaid mechanic (me), and he's having trouble with the clutch dragging on his late ('02, '03?) Scorpa. Major drag...he has to be rolling to put it in gear. He'll probably haul it REAL far for me to fix while he stands there, so there will be no option to not get it fixed. Anybody experienced this? The clutch problem, I mean...not somebody who isn't paying you staring over your shoulder. I know how to check all the basic stuff, but does anybody know anything peculiar to Scorpa clutches? It's been a while since I've seen the bike, but he says there's no bleeder on the clutch slave. Possible…

According to this weeks T+MX, Crosswaite's were asked to sign a new contract requiring them to pre-order three times the number of bikes per year than they currently do. They didn't want to commit to that. Anyone know who's brave enough to take it on?

I have emailed BJ's to enquire about their clutch plates for a SY175, just wanted to know wether they do an exchange for them. Do they reply to email's. As I would like to order them it would be ideal if they did an exchange. So as the bike would not be out of action!

Now that some of you have had some time on your SY 175's, I'd love to hear some reviews from as many people as possible! I love Scorpa's concept of being so simple, and last summer when I rode a little 125, Iloved it. It was so fun, but more power would have been great! Does the 175 have enough? Love to hear about things that have surprised you, both good and bad! Cheers, Steve
