HA, HA, I knew that topic title would attract all you 4 stroke 'blingers' On Andy's Japan '06 photos -320Y7V4803.JPG- there's a cylindrical lump with associated plumbing?? What is it? I know that the 4 stroke has been dropped from the Japan schedule because of lack of poke but surely they haven't stuck a NO2 kit on it??!!

Just sold a 2000 Gas Gas 200 and am looking for a new ride. Run across a 2002 Scorpa SY that looks in really nice shape. What are the major differences between a 2002 and a new one. I know that the people in this group are Scorpa riders but in my area Shercos are very popular. The prices are similar but I like the idea of possibly adding a "long ride" kit in the future. Today i rode my Scorpa for a bit of a practice, however after about 20mins i noticed that on huge revs (something ive never really needed to use on this before) it was coughing and spluttering like crazy. I spoke to someone who said (as i thought was likely) there could be water in the float bowl, but as i couldnt take the carb out at the practice i thought id have a look at the airfilter to check it was in correctly. It turned out the airfilter wasnt fitted properly, this was because the whole airfilter is foam, with no little rubber bit on the top, i managed to open it out and it felt better until later on when it started doing it again. AS A SY 250 RACING OWNER I AM IN NEED OF SOME ADVICE. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT A 250 SCORPA EASY 1998 MODEL FOR MY SON. I KNOW HOW GOOD MY SCORPA IS BUT NOT SO SURE ABOUT THE EASY. NOT RUNNING ON THE YAM' ENGINE IS IT AS RELIABLE, ARE PARTS EASY TO FIND, IS IT GOING TO BE BREAKING DOWN EVERY 5 MINUTES AND HOW EASY ARE THEY TO FIX? HOPE YOU LOT CAN HELP CHEERS ANGUS.....

hello everybody, i found this on the italian scorpa site http://www.scorpa.it/pagina.php?codpag=notizie&notiziaID=61 strangely, there's nothing on the french one... anyway, (if you cannot read italian): - bigger tank (5 lt) - bigger seat - longer front fork (??) - new lock key - suspension protection (rear, I suppose) - new colors I think I'll order the bigger fuel tank (great, no more fuel bottles in the bag...), I hope that I can fit it on my 2005 model. any details about the longer fork? m.

There is one major drawback to a having a Scorpa and that is because the bike flatters your limited riding ability, less points are gained and you find its time to move up a level...... Trouble is you then need ability and rather large appendiges (of which I have none) and damage may and does occure...... For us with limited funds (and a nagging wife) kevlar fork, swingarm and water pump protectors are out so for a mere $15 Aus i've made these bolt ons!!!!

why does my bike lose power when i fit an air filter?? it is a clean filter new plug /lead i have leaned off the mixture but still does not rev out?? please help only just started trials and have not a clue thanks andy connor

i have an 04 sy250 that seems to get very hot i.e the fan runs almost permenantly and then starts to pink in the mid range when under load, now it has a new tactic of dying completly when the throttle is cracked open again in the midrange when under load. I have cleaned out the carb a couple of times using carb cleaner and airline and have never seen any muck in there, i have been advised not to oil my filter just to grease inside the airbox, i also have greased around the back mudguard/top of airbox to stop water ingress and it has a one size bigger main jet to try and get more fuel thro' to cool it down Any mods have been recommended by Kev at Birketts (uk importers)…

not being a big fan of scorpa's bikes i had no intrest in ridding one but when offered a go on there new four banger i couldn't say no and i wasn't disapointed, it is extremely smooth but you could tell that it had loads of power. the gearing is a bit slow as 2nd felt like fist on my gasser 125 and thats been geared down! but it had the better suspension than the 4rt and i fet easier to ride. just thought i'd mention it

There's not a lot I can bitch about with my SY however one thing that does bug me is loose nuts and bolts..... I know after every ride we all check the tightness of the various screw on bits and bobs (Don't We!!!!) but out of all the bikes i've owned my SY needs the most atention. Main area's being the rear sprocket, front/rear disks and the rear/front fenders, i've loctighted and torqued all the above fastenings but to no avail. Is this a common SY thing????? any other thread sealers you guys can recommend?

Trialscast footpegs, they seem to fit all other brands but will they fit scorpa, anyone know? i dont like the standard pegs they go "blunt".

Hi all I am the proud owner of a new 06 Scorpa,I had an 02 one for a year and I just love em but have a carburation prob with my new one.... Bike starts ok,sounds dead flat on the choke and have to get the choke off fast as it will bog the engine but once choke is in she is fine.After ten mins or so it seems fuel starved,pinks a bit,then goes really dead as if no fuel getting in.If I can manage to keep it going it seems to clear and runs well for rest of the day.Have had carb off,no problems in there,have tried running with tank breather off,no better! I am running on Hi Octane fuel,100:1 Castrol 747 and am totally mystified by this problem.It only seems to happen onc…

I've just fitted a second hand flat bashplate to my 03 SY250. It's in good condition and came complete with the four allen head mounting bolts and nuts and it was considerably cheaper than a new one. It came off a later model SY 250, a 04 or 05 model Fitting it correctly was a bit harder than anticipated and I have two questions: It only just misses (about 1 or 2mm at the closest point) the crankcase where the bolt connecting the magneto cover is at the lower front of the motor. In order to get this gap I had to tighten the rear bashplate mounting bolts first and then do up the front ones. Doing it in any other order resulted in the plate touching the crankcase. Is …

Used Belzona two pack metal filler. Wash the casing in de greaser first, clean up the edges of the crack with a file or sand paper and apply. Put it on as somooth as possible as it takes some serious sanding to flat it down once it has set. I've even used Belzona on a race bike after crashing at the TT, to build up a brocken lug on a magnezium engine casing. It sets so hard that you can drill and tap it with a thread.

before I start stripping things unecesarily I was wondering if the bottom shock mount on an sy 250 needs any maintenance. Does it run on bushes that need greased or does it not require greasing. I can't figure out if the shock rotates on the mounting bolt or if it stays static. Any advice appreciated.

I had the pleasure of a couple of hours on the new four stroke at Birks emporium yesterday. The bike feels really good to stand on (much better than my 315). The steering is very neutral with no real top heavy feel on turns. The bike feels as wide as a Mont at ankle level which I do not think is a problem. The engine is super, real power if you open it up. It is smooth off the bottom end without any carb glitches. (Oh and it starts first or second kick hot or cold but takes an age to warm up from cold). It is certainly much quieter than a 4RT but still sounds like a good old 4 banger. Well a few asked my to tell you how it went when i finally got to ride the thing so here goes. It was a training trial today, so i could go round and ride the sections as often as i liked, it was a little wet so brilliant! I cannot believe the difference between my old TXT and this, the engine is amazing, ive got a slow action throttle and you dont need to open it up most of the time, just keep it going with a little throttle, but when you do open it up it really pulls, it wants to backflip, just keeps going and going! There were climbs today where on my old bike i would be using third or fourth, whereas today i mostly used first, with a little second. I can finally ju…

Ive just bought an 04 Sy250, I was wondering which fuel mixture to run it on, it was previously run on 50:1. I was wondering what you guys would recommend. Is there any other things that i should watch out for when maintaining this bike? Also i know that on the frames of Sys they tend to get rub marks where boots rub against the frame, as the frame is in blue i can always touch this up, however have any of you found another way of protecting the frame, e.g. putting carbon fibre type bits to help protect it. Thanks a lot guys, any tips for a first time Scorpa owner would be great. Nj
