This is a big bummer, I think. Broken kick shaft. Between the 2 splines where the kicker arm goes on, there is a hole through the shaft making it very weak. Is this factory, or a cob job by a previous hammer-and-tongs man to secure a stripped shifter? Either way, the end of the shaft snapped off. Does this mean split the cases to install a new shaft? Is a new shaft even available? I wonder how the new girlfriend feels about engines on the kitchen table....

Just removed crankcase of MH349 to see damage of crank, The end of crank has been all chewed up (See pics) Now the bike is just a field bike at moment and it ran o.k but what will happen if i continue to run the bike like this? I know i shouldnt but at the moment i can't track a crank down and its a budget bike for messing around on whilst i get more time/money to sort it out properly or upgrade to another bike Cheers

I have stripped down the bottom end, to replace the main bearings and seals. I am looking for advice in which order to reassemble the crank and main bearings. Do you heat the two halves of the casing and fit the main bearings into the casing first and the fit the crank ? If so how do you know the position the bearings in the casing as there is no lip to push them up against.

Hello gentlemen On my visit back in May 2003 I met Don Smith on the evening of 1st Scottish Pre65 day at the Clachaig Inn, where I stayed with my father. It was about 7 pm and I had a beer at the pub, during my father Mark (80 years old)had a nap before dinner. Next table to me where 2 gentlemen, one was smoking selfmade cogarettes. I asked him, if he would mind me smoking a ciagar? "Of course not, go ahead!". I asked the two seniors, what the were doing here? "Watching the Pre65!" one guy answered. "Years ago, I competed myself, but I never won".."Oh, you must have been good, then" I answered, " Whats your name?" I asked getting courious. "Don Smith." ??? "You must be j…

Am looking at purchasing the Pirelli MT43 tire for my vintage Ossa. Was wondering what would be a suitable match for the front. Also, may sound stupid, but how important is the front tire, as far as performance and $ are concerned? You can spend $25.00 - $100.00, for a front tire. Just curious what you folks think.

See there's another "Majesty" on ebay. ref 190455109718 Now i am not the authority on Majestys but it looks just a std TY with a Majesty tank and repositioned shock top mounts to me. Plus would be a problem where to ride it as not eligable for ACU events due to the front disc. So Majesty officionados is it a Majesty or just Mutton dressed as Lamb

Just thought I'd drop a quick line here to thank the guys at In-Motion. Was having issues trying to source the correct cable for my Cota 247C. Was on the phone for 20 mins today whilst the poor guy at In-Motion went thru the possible cable Montesa permutations (lots!) and even went and got a bagged up cable up to measure the free cable for me, on the one we thought should fit, may not of been correct, he wasn't to know before opening it. Great service and thanks PS...now if you guys could open a well priced Trade Motor Factors near Diss with '30 minute vans' I'd be in heaven...

If you were offered a couple of cheap montesa's locally, one a 247 the other a 349, which one would you buy? Both similar price and condition ie reasonable but not mint. I've never owned a Montesa and I just fancy trying a few twinshock events on one. Any opinions on which one to go for or should I just forget it? I'm not short of bikes to ride but you know how it is!
