Twinshock

  1. Started by bridgwaterjohn,

I need to repair a small area around the Kick start / Kick start return sping area. Has anyone a photo of a bare crank case, so i can see what it should look like the area i am intested in is the wall to the right of where the kick start shaft goes through the casing. Many thanks John H

Hi - I need to upgrade my TLR200 shocks and there is little price difference between NJB Expert, Trikshoxs or Betors. I have no experience with any of them and I am a non competitive rider looking at mixed trial/trail use. Although I can envisage that I might try competition at clubman level at some stage. I seek opinions based on your experience with the various brands.

Having found a rather sweet (read: immaculate) Sherpa 125 my major concern is tyres. They use a 17". Before I commit myself I need to know whether these are readilly available?

Can anyone advise if it's feasible to fit a right foot brake set-up to a 159 Sherpa? If so any recommendations for suppliers of the required parts?

I have a couple questions with regards to the above. I am at the point of putting the transmission into the engine cases. When locating the selector drum should it be in neutral or a specific gear and how do I tell if it's in the correctly selected gear? Cheers John

  7. would of said "you lucky people"..... found this whilst browsing, thought I'd bookmarked it, then lost it and took me hours to find it again. A 'Which Bike' test of the 1978 Monty 247 which I now know was called the 247C, the 'C' standing for competition. So it must be suitable for trials I guess cota 1.pdf

Managed to find this beauty, must be a U.S. import and it is literally spotless, including the rims and fork/engine alloy surfaces. Great fun to ride and the long legged 5th gives you a decent pace between sections or events. Gave it a decent service and all is good, tight and clean, including the 2 stroke oil pump. Have put ATF in gearbox and using fully synthetic 2-stroke oil. Found some water in the o/s front fork leg - must have been in a few deep ones!!! Flushed thoroughly and re-filled with 10 wt fork oil. Tried to get a spare ignition key - $25 + postage from the U.S. Local pet shop selling KAW4 key blanks for £3.20, with £2 charge for cutting. Thinking…

  12. I'm working on getting mine back together after having it in pieces for several years. I did a search and it looks like there are a few other KT250 owners (at least one with a Gollner frame) here, but some of those posts were pretty old. http://www.eurospares.com/kt250.htm is a page on my website with information on my bike. I've put Fox Trials Shox on, retoothed the dished rear sprocket, modified the head squish clearances, done a little porting, built a pipe, aluminum tank (terminal rust on the stocker) and front fender stays and not much else. The piston is a second series Honda CR/MT250 Wiseco ((1975-77). Details of some of the changes are on my website. I'm ge…

I have a Montesa 172 which is just about finished in terms of a rebuild, with a fair bit of money spent on it. It's very very original and a lovely bike. The problem is gear selection. When I bought the bike it would go in and out of first OK, but into second and above was very notchy. With the engine, all I've gone is a top end freshen up (it's still on original bore), but now it's all back together there is a problem with gear selection. I've tried everything I can (and I'm resonably mechanically minded) but it will not go into second or above. Clutch operation is also very very heavy. Im sure to solve both of these is very simple for someone who knows older Montesa e…

Well I thought it was destiny... a tidy 1975 Ossa 250 MAR turning up for sale in my village.... I couldn't not buy it...And I still don't regret it. However, my missus now has other opinions and it also appears destiny has other things in mind when it comes to me having middle aged ideas about off road fun. Fortunately you will be pleased to hear at no time during my abject stupidity were any motorcycles harmed in any way.. I picked up the bike and was off straight away to French Mike's house to play in his field. And, half an hour later I was off to the local hospital after losing a daft wheelie at the top of a tiny bank and managing to let the left handle bar rip hol…

just curious, what is the most difficult line for twinshock....... maybe I'm getting old, but many moons ago I seem to recall expert or master class was quite a challenge to ride, I love riding vintage class but sometimes I wish for nastier sections. No I don't have the money for a modern bike, however the modern sections are a little much to splater on old school bikes(weight) anyone else feel this way? I have done most of the mods I can (i.e. drilled spokes for lightness).....unless someone wants to donate a "peril kt250 frame. not too sincerly yours dgraf

  19. Started by twinshock giles,

I'm considering have a batch of sidepanels made for the twinshock DG350, would anybody on here be interested in some, I wasn't going to have that many done as I don't ride that much so I'm hoping I wouldn't be breaking them too regularly. Apologies if this is considered an advert post but I couldn't really think where else to put it as nothings for sale at the moment and I was just wondering if there was anybody else needing some?
