Twinshock

Just got my bike (1985 Can-Am 240 Trials - Frame #21) and LOVE how it rides and feels! Need to adjust a few things, but that Rotax motor has plenty of low end to pull me up and over most anything. Put a few miles on the odometer at a local vintage trials event, and was smiling the entire time. New decals and touch ups and this pretty bike will look new again. Thinking about improving the pegs, and maybe new shocks one day. Already put a set of Dunlop GP tires on it, and they seem nice and grippy. Besides 75cc, of course. Are the frames /geometries different? How do they compare when ridden?

Two questions on Betor gas shocks (on a Cota 348). 1. Should the shocks be positioned with the oil reservoir and air valve end up, and springs down, or vice versa. I've seen them both ways at local meets. Installed with the springs down creates minor brake cable interference on the Cota 348, but that appears to be the most frequently seen installation. 2. What is the recommended air pressure on these shocks.

anyone know if there is a difference in the stripe kits needed for an ally tank and fibreglass tank? ('74 model) I have a set that looks right when offered up to the ally tank but can't decide if it looks right when placed on the fibreglass Thanks.....AMO

Going to look at an 85 at350. Supposed to be in good shape,new clutch,needs sprockets. for $600. Anyone have any knowlege/info about these bikes.

Hi all, A couple of years ago I bought a 1985 Montesa Cota 330 as a non runner. I planned to get it going and sell on for a bit of profit. Having got the beast running I couldn't bring myself to part with it. I have now decided to do a little more work and use the bike. Does anyone have any details as to what mods I should consider to make it more competetive and reliable? Riding it around the drive the footpegs seem so high and the handlebars so low. Is this common with bikes of this age? - I am considering lowering the pegs but even the ground clearance seems too high compared to modern stuff. I am missing a few parts. Hi Chaps! Ive dragged the old kt250 out of the garage to do up BUT! It needs some new rear shocks i swapped some Betors over from the ossa these are 14 1/2 " between centres when fitted to the KT they jack the rear end up a bit high (i think these are the shortest length avalible?) does anyone do rear shock lengths of around 13 1/2 ? also the bike seems to run to rich ,ie when you flick the choke on the engine cant take it and dies also you can nearly always start the bike without the choke. The airfilters clean and the airscrew is set at one turn out from fully closed! could the needle do with dropping down a couple of notches? thanks in advance Nick.

I have so short fingers that I have difficulties to reach the standard Amal levers on my Cota 348. Anyone has adjustable clutch and brake levers on twinshock trials bike? Your opinions and experiences? Are those ones too modern on a twinshock trials bike? Surely have to buy or make new cables?

Hello all. I'm rebuiding a Mont 200 the one with the alloy tank under the F/glass tank and seat unit. I understand that there are two sorts of rear guard, LONG and SHORT, There seems to be a black plastic shield behind the air box does this mean I need a short guard? any help would be great as I've nothing to go by. Also would this model have the chain tubes as standard? Thanks in advance.

Looking at Falcons available localy and saw some info on NJB expert? shocks, are they worth the effort or should I stick with what I know ? Thanks for any and all veiws... Glenn

The chrome springs of the original Betor shocks are badly rusted so obviously I have to get new shocks for my Montesa Cota 348. What shocks work quite well but are not very expensive? How important is the rebuildability? I think it's however quite expensive for me to get the shocks rebuilded abroad and I suppose the finnish shock repairmen don't have spare parts for this kind of shocks.

Hi there! I Recently bought a KT 250 and have been looking around for a few spares. I have found a company in USA (California) and one in New Zealand that can supply certain parts but postage costs to the UK are pretty steep so just wondered if anyone knows of anyone in the UK that can provide parts for this model. I keep a look out on that well known auction site but as these bikes are pretty rare parts don't come up very often. Thanks Simon

Any clever tips for polishing out scuffs on plastic mudguards?

I bought this 1983 Jumbo last weekend. I plan on using it for twinshock competition next year. The fellow I bought it from has two other Jumbos, which I believe, are the only other ones in Australia. One is in bits and is missing the frame. Everything else is there, including plastics, swingarm and bolts, just no frame. Apparently it became a backyard monoshock project and then vanished into the never never. Does anyone have one they can spare - I would love to buy it from you. I would like to fit wider footpegs, but the kickstarter will not clear them. I believe that an Aprilia Climber kickstarter will fit and will clear my wider pegs. Any one know if this is true? I …
