Has anyone used the new 20mm Amal on a standard capacity Tiger Cub motor? How does it perform, particularly on a "snap" throttle opening off low revs? Is it as good as the cheap "pit bike" Mikuni type carbs? Comments appreciated. Cheers.

These are some tips collected and tried during many decades of fooling with bikes, particularly Cubs. I wish to write them down while I still can, and pass them on to newbies, so they don't have to reinvent the wheel multiple times without end, and perhaps to recall some of them for us oldies. Litew8cub's 29 Tips. 1) To properly get a good solid purchase and avoid slipping and damaging very thin nuts as found on top of fork tubes, steering stems, clutch hubs, gearbox output sprockets, etc, I have found it very helpful to grind away the ends of my sockets, removing nearly all of the radius leading to the nut cavity, so more of the socket and nut flats are in good conta…

Finally got my Butler running but only with the choke slides fully closed on the air filter? Ticks over and runs lovely, pilot jet at 2 turns out and it takes throttle so why is this. No obvious air draws, any ideas welcome. I've been told to try an Enfield amal but would like to get it running as original. Cheers, peter

I first saw a 350 CCM in action when Dave Thorpe struggled round the Scottish way back in... whenever it was. Saw one for sale a bit later and took the plunge. Did a few SE Centre trials on it, got the four stroke bug and swapped it for... can't remember, possibly a 350 Ajay (no, it was a 250 Honda Pinkie from Gordon Farley's Ash shop). The buyer bought it on behalf of an American enthusiast who was intending to rebuild 'as new', so it went off to the USA where I presume it still resides, possibly in a millionaire's collection, or museum. Must be worth quite a few bob now I suppose. Out of curiosity, I revisited my bike blog to check out the 350CCM posting where I listed …

Does anyone know the do's and don'ts re 35 mm yokes for use in the Scottish pre 65 trial. Trying to get my Bantam eligible, not too sure about the yokes. Whether I ride the trial remains to be seen but at least if the bike is eligible it's easier to sell if the time comes, But I will try to enter in the mean time when it's right.....

Front wheel chrome is rough on my C15 trials and I have been looking for alternatives, forks are B44 clamp type at bottom of fork leg did any japanese/ european manufacturers ever use a 40 spoke alloy rim in 21" that I could change to I can find a lot of alternatives in 36 hole, and have toyed with the idea of lacing the 40 hole drum to a 36 hole rim, but sourcing the odd length spokes may be a problem any pointers appreciated

During a conversation at a trial last weekend I was told that 5 speed boxes are now being made for Bantams ? So had a look around on the intraweb and only found a few references to road racing. So who is doing them,or is it the GPO trying to get their telegrams delivered quicker.

Does anybody have any experience with these bikes? I have an opportunity to pick on up and would love any opinions. I would not use for trials but rather as a round town bike to run errands on. Cheers Jon
