I'm currently rebuilding a bantam D10a 4 speed engine and i've got a couple of problems.... 1. The 3rd / 4th gear selector fork keeps popping out of engagement with its dog. I'm pretty sure that the selector fork is damaged but it doesn't look like there is any breakage. I have (hopefully) attached a few pics to help explain the problem. Is the fork damaged or am I doing something else silly ? 2. I need to replace the bronze bushes in the final drive gear. Are there any hints or tips for this ?

Well, with only 2 unfinished bikes sat in the garage I though it about time I started work on another project !! In an attempt to piece together some 'spare parts' I am fitting a 250cc C15 Bsa engine into a Greeves frame. I have stripped the engine and the piston is already at +040 and need a rebore. I have heard of some C15's which have been overbored, what piston can be used and what CC does it take it out to? Any other tips / advice regarding the C15 would be appreciated. The engine is a SS model, I presume it has a racey cam which may need to be replaced.

After stripping and checking my cub engine I was disappointed to find I had much the same running problems with not revving past 1/3 throttle and sooting up plugs on reassembly. Convinced I had a problem with my new 20mm Dellorto carb, I tried a friends 22mm Dellorto carb (from his 250 Serco Cub). This appeared to work much better. The engine revved pretty cleanly and the plug even appeared to go from black to straw colour! I must admit we didn't do an extended test due to time constraints but the bike was vastly improved. Bob at UPB kindly exchanged my carb for the larger one. The only difference is that my new 22mm carb has a 100 main jet and the main j…

Probably not the right forum for this but i like the clientelle here I was observing on Sunday at a Pre 65 classic trial as the bike isnt finished yet got nothing to ride so thought i would help out by observing. You know Classic Trials the ones with the relatively easy sections. I was amazed, probably shouldnt be, by the number of riders who seemed to think it ok to blatantly kick, uproot and generally remove rocks from the section. When i jokingly asked one of them "Do you work for Tarmac Roadstone" as i admired his roadbuilding technique all i got was "no but that rocks loose". Ya dont say!! I pointed out that if him and his mate teamed together they could…

Hello, My first post in the 'Pre-65' Section!! I'm in the process of 're-framing' my trusty C15T into one of Howard Fawkes OTTER Frames. I bought the frame about 4 years ago and due to the purchase of my first house things got a little delayed!! Now hard back into the build I was wondering if owners of similars OTTER Framed machines could post some pictures for me. To help with a little insperation and give a few clue's to how it should all go together. Thanks in advance, Mike Dursley, Glos

changing from one frame manufacturer to another.. and using the same njb tricshoxs which were perfect on the old frame. on the new bike the mounts mean the shock is markedly more 'laid down' and although the bike 'sits' at the right height 'unladen' once my weight is on it the spring compresses almost to the stops. does laying the shocks down make the spring action softer? do i stiffen them up and or lengthen the shock at the same time. given the price of a pair i only want to do it once...

Anyone seen the regs for this trial yet? I thought the regs for the PJ1 rounds usually appeared on the Poachers website but they don't seem to be keeping the Northern Bike section up to date this year and there's nothing on the South Liverpool site

Hi all I have just fitted an Electrex ignition system to my Greeves Scottish and discovered that it isn't possible to position the stator plate in the position that corresponds to the instructions - to time it to fire 10 degree BTDC, and I would have to drill new holes in the stator plate to achieve this setting. Has anyone else come across this problem ?. Incidentally, I can position the stator to 16 degrees BTDC (as per original system).

Hi guys, I want to try and repair a small crack in the bottom skirt of a Tiger Cub cylinder. The bike will not be used on too much of a regular basis, so I hope that this repair can be successful. I am in two minds though as to how approach this repair. Do I braze it, Oxy/acetylene weld, CO2 or similar inert gas weld. Has anyone tried this? My head tells me to braze it from a joint aspect because it is flexible, but from a welding heat aspect, a quicker CO2 weld seems to be the way to go. Obvioualy the crack will be prepared accordingly prior to repair. Bruce
