Pre-65 Bikes

Can anyone help please, I have an Amal concentric carb, looks like a Mk 1.5 concentric with the choke lever, the body has a cast number 625 with L1 stamped to the left of it and number 1 below the 6. Can't work out from the Amal website exactly which type it is 1600 or 1900 to order spares. Any advice gratefully received

I've been searching the internet for over two weeks and I can't find a lower crankrod pin, bushing or roller (bearing) for a E3342 rod (what the little Terrior used). I've found the larger crank pin, bush and roller, but not the small. I've contacted Greystone and looked on Feked, but they do not show these parts as being available. Any help would be greatly appreciated... I've got mine all torn apart and want to get it back together with new parts. Thank you.

Hi Guys. I was chatting to a good friend of mine this last weekend. He is an engineer and machinist of some rupute, and also looks after some of the country's historic armoury, IE Field guns,Rifles, and Cannons etc. I asked him if he could machine me a set of "fiddle fork" sliders. I thought it should be easy for him as he dealt with gun barrels on some of the jobs he did I showed him the Marzocchi sliders that i needed machining down to fit inside the "Short Norton Road Holder" ones that I was proudly polishing in my hand. He shook his head, and said it would not be easy, and could turn into a long and expensive Job. He then went on to explain how he would go about it…

Hello everybody, I am currently building a triumph twin (500) into a Whitlock frame, and would like some advice on sprockets. The engine is currently on standard sprockets, and I need to try to keep the rear(wheel) sprocket small, as it's quite crowded back there. That suggests I need to use the smallest driving sprockets available, which are 13t gearbox, and 16t engine. BUT I don't want to be having to tackle sections in top gear if I go too far, so- the question is, has anybody out there got any experience of the optimum sprocket combinations for a Triumph twin?

Just looking at the results for the Westmoland Trial and it seems a shame that it had so few riders. 18 pre 65 and 22 Twin Shocks( i had enterd but an injury prevented me from riding) i would have thought being in the area it was there would have been quite a large entry given that the north of england must have loads of pre 65 and T/s riders. What happens to the hoards that enter or get turned away from the scottish? why are they not riding/supporting these trials? Are they all turning out for the next trial run by Ilkley & District? I wonder(like others, i am sure) just where the pre 65 scene is heading? Although the Reliance trial had about 120 riders! Why is the M…

hey, basically I have a old bullet with the later twin shock Reddich frame, brought it about ten years ago as a project and thought it was a road bike as it was wearing most of that trim though once I got stuck in the frame had some differences that were causing me some headscratching, basically the differences are: *had the mount for springer seat but cut off to fit the road seat at some point *the frame never had rear footrest hangers(what originally confused me) *the original paint under the black 'respray' is olive green From that I'm assuming it was once a trials model just wondering if anyone can help shed a bit of light on this one for me as haven't managed to…

Hi All, I have a cub which has been set up for trials, but has been sitting for 30 years unused. I am slowly recommisioning it. It has a pair of metal profile forks, the forks have 5 inches of travel, but when you ride it they are so stiff and heavy it feels like about an inch or two. I have stripped, cleaned and given the fresh oil, but they still feel woody. The only thing left to try is to replace the springs, but I can't find any. Are there any companies out there who make springs to order. I need some 500m x 24mm. Thanks Sam

Query for you knowlegable people. Is there meant to be a slipper pad on the B40 duplex chain tensioner. Mine seems to run on the metal adjuster bracket !! It is also badly grooved, where the chain has been running. Is their supposed to be a pad of sorts ?

My C15 has a clutch actuator (pivot) that threads into the timing cover. I have been told the Cub is the same. It interfaces with the cable and rod. When rotated into the correct location, the threads are not tight. Does this matter? Will it flex around an destroy the threads? Is there a standard correction? Is seems like the threads should bottom as the correct position is met.

Hi just wondered if anyone knows if the original C15 fork bottoms (external springs) are suitable for machining and having more modern inernals fitted? bike currently has mz forks with machined seal holders that look the part but i really want to make this bike elliagble for major pre65. thanks

  17. Started by wallo,

So, the bike is finished and we're nearly there, but I think I've got an issue with the oil feeds, I have a Morgo pump and the oil is pumping round really well, a good flow is being returned. The problem is that I see no oil getting to the rockers. I took the rocker feed pipes off which are feed from the frame just beneath the down pipe (I think I have a Jackson frame, you fill it from the side not the top tube). I put some thin wire down this hole and could see through the hole which returns the oil. So I put my finger over the hole that returns the oil, turned it over by hand, and oil shot out of the hole that feeds the rockers. So any ideas what's gone wrong, shoul…

Hi Numpty alert:!!!!!!! Just wondering what BSA Bantams are worth when modded. I know it depends on the level of mods and quality of the overal job but roughly speaking what are they worth? I am about to start building one but do not want to plough thousands into it for it only 900 quid ( i am new to the pre65's but wanting to get into it....ive seen them varying in price so not really sure?) Cheers

  20. Hi all, can anyone give me some advice on the drawbacks of purchasing a Drayton Bantam? I've been given the opportunity to purchase one at a good price but heard that they aren't accepted at many of the pre65 British bike type trials? I'm thinking I may have a problem getting in at BMCA events and I guess the Scottish should I ever decide to have a go. Is this generally the case? Will I be limited? Do they hold their value as well as the purer versions as far as the investment goes? Many thanks, Stewart
