I’m trying to identify an imperial bolt and was wondering if someone could tell me what the upper section of the bolt with no thread on is called? Is it different to a normal fully threaded bolt, ie all the way to the head? ive got the length / diameter / tpi sorted, just need one with the thread cut to the right length on the body of the bolt. Thanks Boner.

Hi I heard my first run away yesterday and I think any biker would cringe hearing a 2t reving its t!ts off. I was surprised how long it ran for at WOT without the conrod poking its head out to say hello (probably close to 10 seconds). I spoke to the guy afterwards and he said the throttle cable sleeve got hung up. He came off and the bike was in gear and did a dance arround before he was able to yank the throttle cable out of the throttle housing. Im not sure but I dont think many noobs know about this throttle design which allows this to happen. I think it should be one of the first things taught to new trials riders to prevent the big bang theory from happening. I…

  5. I m not sure that this would be the ultimate factor that would sway me to one bike or another but in my last thread this has spiked some different opinions. to me personally, my GG250 6th gear is nothing short of useless, and kind of annoys me that adding that 6th gear the shifting from 4th to 5th becomes a clunk. Does anyone knows which manufactures do 6? and which do 5? whats the advantages and disadvantages on real world application. I also heard of a certain Italian bike which some owners claim the 1st gear for that specific bike is pretty useless in a sense no one ever rides on it.

Curious as to what country has the most trials riders per capita (population) or just the most period? I know it is not scientific but rather based solely up the thoughts of members on the this forum. Should be interesting what the forum members come up with!

Having a problem with fitting a new tyre Mich X11. The tyre is on the wheel but when i use the air line i can't get the tyre to sit on the rim of the wheel. The seating rim of the tyre are touching each other and well away from making the seal on the wheel rim. I've tried bouncing the wheel on the floor to push the tyre into place and even tried insultation tape to seal the tyre to the wheel but none of this is working - anyone got any ideas?

Hello I have been riding dirt and street bikes for 40 plus years and I am wanting to buy a used trials bike. I am new to the sport and I am not sure which to buy or what year is the best. I have been looking at Gas Gas 300 and Beta 300 ‘s that are 3 to 5 years old. Does anyone have any feedback. Thanks

When at Hawkstone, each section had an official doing the time and I bet there were occasions when the rider was just on the limit of the time and gave the rider a few more seconds to avoid conflict with the rider or just give benefit of the doubt. Well, to avoid that, why not have an automatic clock that has an audible sound exactly on the time limit avoiding conflict and being consistent for everyone. The observer just checks to see the rider has cleared the gates before it goes off and the rider cant argue as when the sound goes.. thats it! Edited to read better I hope

  11. Hello! I am a newbie to trials currently searching for a bike. I found this Scorpa 290cc 2T 2012 online, it looks really nice and seems to be in very good condition, the seller is not asking too much for it either. And, it's really close (geographically). It's literally the bike closest to me in the whole country. But... It's 290cc. I would prefer starting out on a 125cc to be honest, I am only 20 years old, 5' 9" in height and 155 lbs in weight, so I'm not the biggest of guys. Also, I have no experience with trials bike. I have some experience riding regular dirtbikes (but only 125cc), and lots of driving snowmobiles. But, this trial bike looks pretty sweet. Unfortun…

  13. Right , I'm one step closer to my first trials bike .... Wahey my cr sold this evening so I'm now ready to start the viewing process ..... Exited much lol. So I've been scanning ebay etc and the majority of bikes seem to be miles away from me , Hundreds in fact . So.. A lead from a local mx shop put me in contact with a local guy selling a 2001 gas gas 280 , I gave him a call and he seemed a nice guy , said the bike had new tyres , brakes , fluids , plastics , updated Sachs rear shock , new bars etc etc , only had light practise use , he's after

  14. Having not ridden regularly in trials for the past 20 years I was wondering what people’s thoughts are on when and what the biggest changes in bike design/technology have been? I continued to follow the sport so I’ve seen the bikes change but having not ridden them I have no idea of what impact these changes have actually made to the way the bikes ride. During one of my odd rides a few years ago I was talking to the dad of one of the guys I started riding with and he commented about how much better the bikes were, easier to ride and easier to do more on. I’ve read a lot of the posts on here about which bikes of various ages is best etc which are very interesting but I…

I've got a old 1999 Bultaco Sherco 2.5 not been used in a few years but the fan doesn't seem to cut in. I've tested the fan separately and know that that works, I've also bypassed the temperature sensor but still the fan doesn't work. Apart from the fan not working everything else seems fine, although a little difficult to start (it's a Sherco so expected) it runs fine. Any help appreciated. Ian.
