Hi, new to the forum. I've been thinking about getting another trials bike for a while now so I thought I'd get some advice before I part with some cash. I've had a couple bikes in the past, first had a beta rev 3 then a gas gas txt250. Really enjoyed riding them but all my mates ride motocross and its not much fun riding with about with them! So I sold them in the end. But I've been riding a few enduro events recently and want to get into trials more seriously because it might help my riding?? Is it worth joining a club and doing events? And is there any in Devon in the uk? And what's a good bike to be looking at in the £1-1.5k area? Any help appreciated

SO this post is only for those of you who sweat *a lot*. For example, its 0 deg C outside, you have been outside in your underwear standing in the snow, and you start *thinking* about putting some clothes on - and you start sweating. Then you are in the "heavy sweaters" club - and this post applies to you. So if you are a heavy sweater and you wear goggles - find anything good? Have a system that works well? And again, if you have the little girlie sheen on your face after two hours of hard riding - thats not sweating, thats "perspiring" - just go home. I am talking about litres of sweat. Soaked to the bone.

The definition of 'footing' includes when a rider benefits from any part of his body leaning on an obstacle without stopping the progress of the machine. Q1. What if part of the machine (eg. handlebar) 'leans' on an obstacle - is this ok? Q2. What if the machine stops - ie. can a rider stop and lean against a tree for a breather (engine running & both hands on bars) without suffering a penalty now that the stop & balance rule has been changed or have I missed something. Regarding a previous posting about limits of the section, the rule states the machine must stay within the intended limits of the section. This of course is open to differences of opinion but …

  6. Hi all, for context/back story I have a 300 Sherco trials bike and 300 Sherco 4-stroke enduro bike- and struggle to find time to use either! My trials riding is Novice level and living on the London/Essex border, my 'enduro' riding is the odd enduro practice day or Hare & Hounds practice day. Generally tighter stuff, and again I'm Novice level. I can't justify having both bikes, so am considering a trials bike with long-ride kit. A Honda 4-Ride is the logical option but I'm a little wary, so that leaves TRS, Beta, or Sherco. My Sherco has a biiiiiiig jump between 3rd and 4th, which isn't ideal. How do the TRS and Beta compare?

As on old chap, born in the 1950's, I was brought up on twin shock trials bikes. I've got a few bikes, 1970's OSSA's, a 1980's OSSA a '72 Montesa, a '71 Bultaco and a '58 Greeves Scottish. My neighbour gave me a 2001 Gas Gas TXT280 last week and I took it to my practice ground yesterday. Good grief, it weighs very little, power on demand, slows down when you pull the right hand lever towards you, the levers on my twin shocks are mainly for decoration, I think.... have bikes improved since this one was made in 2001? If they have they must ride themselves, no pilot required.

Hi, I live in Spain at the time and need a Trials bike for the 3 months im here. I have found a guy that is willing to rent his bike out for me, but he says i have to pay the price of the bike as a deposit in case anything happens to the bike.. And of couse i understand that, but still i am going to rent it. The bike is a Sherco 2.9 Cabestany Replica 2007 mod. It is in fine shape, and as we all know Sherco is quality! So, I am going to rent it for about 2,5 months and he have never rented out a bike before, I also never rented one before. So what do you think a fair price would be to rent it for 2,5 months? He said he didnt want to go under 10 euros per day, which i th…

  12. Hi i'm wanting to get the frame of my sherco powder coated, however i'm unsure as i bought a bike on ebay and went to collect and there were no frame numbers or engine numbers on he said this is because they were powder coated, i obviously turned it down. So was just wondering would powder coating remove the frame/engine numbers? Thanks.

Hi guys Time to change my oil and would like to try atf. Have a 07 rev3 and live in the middle of no where and the only products easily available are caltex oils from the local general dealer/gas station. Can I use their atf? What do I need to look out for? Quite sure its mineral and not synthetic. Thanks

  14. Not good for trials if true With Honda Montesa releasing pictures of the new four-stroke, and the smaller companies facing an expensive task of keeping pace if the emissions ruling does become fact in 06, how will the smaller companies survive. The rumors going around the SSDT about Gas Gas investors pulling the plug and leaving the boss holding the baby in a large new factory need to be confirmed or denied before they turn into the rats leaving the sinking ship syndrome. Trials is too small and bad publicity about bikes even if it's only the local clubman with a sticking back brake the news gets around fast good or bad, can hurt sales more than we think. Is the pie …

I recently had a flay tire on my Bultaco, which resulted in a DNF. Luckily it a low-key event and besides I didn't feel like fixing the tube in the hot sun. I assume I pinched a tube. With these low pressures I believe it's not that uncommon. Has anyone ever used Slime in their tubes? I believe that it's a little messy if you have a tubeless tire but I'm thinking that it might no be too bad with a tubed one. Might be good enough to get me through a trials if I get another pinch.

Hi Everyone. I had convinced myself that I wanted a Montesa 2001+. There seem to be fewer of these about though. Everything on E bay seems to be in the North. Which 250 would be good for me, coming back to trials after a very long (30 years) lay off. A guy from the forum gave me some good advice about the Montesa, and he had one for sale which I have to say tempts me.. I need to free my garage up by selling a car which currently lives in there. I was told that the Beats could be a handful, have they calmed them down in the 21st Century, could I calm it down with lower gearing and a slow throttle? I heard that second hand Gas gas can be trouble, from a build quality po…

  19. Started by the artist formerly known as ish,

In our club events we run Novice and Intermediates in the morning with the Advance and Expert riders observing, then change the positions for the afternoon. While observing this weekends morning riders the points grabber was a rock against a tree on a tight downhill corner, the amount of riders who lost three dabs at this point was unbelievable, many would loose three without moving. My point on this is if your going to dab, dab!! keep it down get thi sen set up and set off, look where your going to dab, try to always dab on the inside of the turn, put it down firmly on a rock or solid ground and get the most out of the dab you can. If you dab on the outside of the turn…
