Trials Transport

I need to take a bike all the way up north to ride in Scotland (from Bristol), however struggling to find transport. Does anyone know of anywhere that will hire me a van at the age of 20? Cost is not really an issue as it will be paid for (within reason!) however everywhere I have tried has been minimum age of 21 or over. Held my licence for 3 years, no claims etc... hi guys, im looking at buying a van after christmas but only for trialing and maybe sometimes to go to work if the weathers bad. ive heard a few people say that you need to be careful when insuring the vans as the insurance companies dont like it when you say that your going to be carrying a bike in the back at weekends and bump up the premiums. has anybody had any past experiences of this and what is the best thing to do about it? ive been looking at getting a vauxhall vivaro and any comments on these would also be greatly appreciated of things to watch out for etc etc. Cheers Coxy

New to van ownership and using 2008 Peugeot expert SWB 2.0 120BHP. Its only used to transport one or two bikes twice a week and the rest of the time general use unladen. The only tyre pressures given are for semi laden (48/53PSI) and fully laden (N/A) The above pressure seems to give a harsh ride when unladen and its more 'comfortable' using around 42/44. Any of you guys in a similar position - what pressures are you using.

Being a car guy I have had many trials haulers. Not being deterred by size or original intent I have been known to show up at an event with various rides. The soon to be Mrs. and I decided this past winter to head on down to trails training days on top of our east coast nationals. For the past couple of years we have been doing this out of my Passat station wagon which can haul the gear but it can get a bit old when talking about a long weekend or even a longer trip. Hi guys, sorry, newbie question. Ive searched and cannot see an answer in old topics but does anyone know if a trials bike will fit in the back of an old Vauxhall Agila? I have the chance to pick one of those up cheaply and wonder if I'll be able to fit a bike in the rear with the back seats taken out? unfortunately I don't have a bike yet so cannot try this out before committing! Would this fit if I remove the front wheel from the bike? thanks all!

Hi this is my first time posting and I'm glad to be part of the community. I have a Gas Gas Pro 2004 model, think its a 280cc. Im looking to buy a small van and I was wondering if anybody has used a Vauxhall Astra van to transport their trials bike, does it fit okay? Im not really bothered if it has to be leant to the side just as long as I know I can get it in the back. Thanks in advance.

Hi I'm a bit stuck for transport at the moment so am thinking about hiring a Vauxhall combo van (company only supply these or astras) for the weekend. Anyone know if I can fit a bike in without removing anything? Any suggestions as to the best way to fit it in? Corner to corner, need to compress forks etc.? Totally new to using small vans like this so any help at all appreciated, thanks.

As I am 17 and have booked my driving test I am currently looking for small vans which can fit two bikes in. First looked at Ford Connect but they are too expensive for my first vehicle so was wondering about a Vauxhall Combo. Can anyone that has one tell me if they fit two bikes in and please could they post up a picture? I don't want to buy a van and end up with it only fitting one/none bikes in! You may be thinking that a car with a rack would be better for me but van insurance is alot cheaper than car insurance for a 17 year old! Many thanks

OK, I've searched the section and found that 2 trials bikes will fit into a Combo van - but my question is:- Will 2 bikes fit into a CREW version, with the rear seats folded down? I need 4 seats for occasional family use (picking up kids from school etc) but only use the 2 front seats when out on the bikes, with 2 bikes loaded in the back Thanks in advance

Hi all, Am looking (or a friend is) to find a van in UK for my eminent return..and baptism to UK trials....(look out...I'll be the one crashing alot) ANYWAY...he's sourced a Vauxhall Midi....1998 diesel, at what seems to be a fair deal..so I just wondered if anyone has any experience of these, good or bad, please let me know. both trials related use and any other advice/comments are greatly appreciated.

Has anyone had trouble with the rear door central locking? The rear door locks ok but then won't unlock on the button.. it's then necessary to release it from the inside. Not easy if bikes in the way. Is it a common problem? Is there a fix?
