Considering a new bike and prefer something I can thrash rather than fight. Would a lower capacity bike, like a Beta 2T 200cc cut it for a SSDT first timer?

Hopefully you will have read elsewhere about the trialscentral.com part on the ben and charity auction during the upcoming UK world rounds at Nevis Range. The Edinburgh and District Club have donated a bunch of stuff but the BIG news is they have offered a guaranteed and fully paid entry to the 2011 SSDT. This has a face value of

1st, thank you guys. Amazing forum you have here, I'm into reading for few days now. Lots of useful information. I'm thinking going the SSDT next year. My goal is to enjoy the event and to try to pass it nicely. Not competing with anyone beside myself. My Trial skill are novice+. I used to compete in Europe 10 years back on Scorpa easy 280 with Sneezy team (Eddy Moermans) from Belgium (are they still running?), and I even went 2 times to compete in the "4 days of Crouse" in south of France. I believe I have the endurance for the SSDT, after finishing twice the ISDE (Chile 2007 and Mexico 2010) and the Baja 1000 solo rider (23 hours straight). Can I reach my goals? I d…

Just come across a date clash with this years SSDT that may impact accomadation availability in and around Fort William. The British Downhill Mountain Bike championships are been held on the final saturday of SSDT week at Ben Nevis. They ll be a couple of hundred riders plus followers add in the spectators etc and B&B wise it might be a tight squeeze.. As old Fred Pontin used to say '' Book early!''

This Ad on the TC Classifieds (I think 2 grand for a very tentative link to the SSDT is a bit optimistic!) reminded me... Back in my early days with the SSDT there used to be a car (a burgundy Peugeot I seem to recall) there every year with the Reg No "6 DAY". Anybody know who owned it and what became of it as I've not seen either car or Reg for yonks. At the time i thought it the coolest plate on the planet!

Well, I just happened to be talking to my dad about the legend that is Eddie Lejeune and he said to me "one min" and walked out the room , he came back with 30 odd pictures that he took of the SSDT in 1982, up until now I had never seen any of these pictures ! What a numptey! Any way, for the past hour or so I have been scanning them in , so I can post them on here for people to see. If you can name any of the rider,or you are in one of the pictures , simply post the picture number and say who they are and I will then edit that name to be above the picture.. Lets see who has a good memory then shall we.. Thanks , Jamie. (1)could be the model 198B 250cc Bultaco…

On Saturday morning my Dad, Duncan Young a long time member of the Stevenson Club, suffered a Stroke as we were packing up ready to leave at the end of the day. He's okay and was moved from Fort William back to the local hospital in Ayrshire today. I'm really happy to say his condition is improving in leaps and bounds. This post is purely a huge thanks to the members of the trials fraternity who have passed their best wishes and messages of support back to us by phone, email and every other method possible since Saturday. It's probably impossible to contact everyone again so on behalf of the whole Young family THANKS I asked the boss if it was okay to put this in here, …
