Doug Lampkin winning his 11th Scottish rightfully made all the headlines. He was however a firm favourite going into the week. I'd like to congratulate Tom Minta on a fabulous and dare I say, less widely predicted result. Best first timer, 5th overall and best under 200cc, Tom rode the Scottish on a 125. Hands up all those clubmen who still think they 'need' a 300!

I presume everyone has got there riding numbers for scotland. I am going up to watch for a bit in the early part of the week and wondered what numbers some of you regular contributors on here are. Kinell, Perce, Ishy, Gizza and anyone else who posts on here. So I can cheer you all on. Good luck to you all. You are braver men and women than me. Hope the weather is good (especially as I am camping), and that you all have a trouble free enjoyable week. Cheers Dave

I was wondering whether someone with some serious SSDT knowledge should write a Wiki for the SSDT. It would be great reading I am sure. Also, I have been going on about the SSDT at work to customers/suppliers I have been seeing this week and none of them knew what it was I also think its an ideal event for the BBC to cover and televise and as they are struggling for sports media they can afford, the SSDT would be relatively cheap ...... as long as the contract doesn't include paying HL's bar bill for the week

Looks like the usual mix of fun and nonsense but it's nice to see things mixed around a wee bit. That new bit on Wednesday could be fun and I can't remember the last time there was no Callert or Blackwater in the trial, then again leaves the ground for another year...looks like fun Meant to say as well, looks like a bit less road miles as well, Wednesday 20 road miles out of 77, Thursday maybe 30 out of the 108 are off road and on Saturday almost all off road maybe bar about 6 miles...fantastic.

As it says on the tin, I am thinking of taking the road bike thru to watch, have never been before and don't even know where to start going tbh. I'm coming from Dundee, so thru Glencoe, and will only be holiday Monday I can make it, so should I just head in to Kinlochleven and walk places from there or is there any tips on where to go and watch ??? hi all, me and a mate are travelling down from caithness on the bikes to watch this years ssdt, thing is we can not stay for all off it! so when is the best day to come down between the 4Th and the 12Th? is the start better than the end?? any help would be great, OH and can you camp near there or will i have too book the campsite?? cheers mikey

For those of you following the progress of the SSDT entries, this is just a quick note to confirm that we've now exceeded the 270 places available. There's still two weeks to go before entries close, so there will definitely be a ballot for places again this year. We'd thought that entries would be much fewer than normal in the current climate, but it doesn't seem to have put many of you off! For those of you who might be interested in making some money out of the SSDT, Scottish Provincial Press Ltd (who publish our official programme) have just started selling advertising space. After reading Shirty's SSDT and Beta UK guide for SSDT preparation I thought I would add the over 50's ibruprofen guide to the SSDT. First off your not going to win, so stop dreaming thi old git we can watch the young tykes do that as were catching our wind after each group. Don't ever get off your bike if you can see both start and end cards, once you have walked to the top and back down again you'll not have the energy to start the bugger. Make sure you wear braces to keep thi breeches up, no bugger spectating wants to see an hairy old plumbers crack hanging over the back fender of a trials bike, it just turns them off trials. Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas) continues to rewrite the history books as he rode to an emphatic and record extending seventh win at the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) earlier today. Lampkin went into the sixth and final day of this year's event with a healthy lead over Sam Connor (Beta) and further increased his winning margin as he once again posted the best performance of the day. Dougie now stands head and shoulders above his peers in terms of SSDT victories, his seven wins now clearly surpassing the five achieved by legendary riders Sammy Miller and Mick Andrews.

Am I right in saying, the mighty Honda, have never won the SSDT and if so, why, for all the money they spend on motorcycle sport, have they not tried again and again, until they succeeded? It's the most desirable trophy of all, as a manufacture, in the world of Trials and yet, Honda, or even Montesa, do not bother. As they brand the 4rt in Japan as a Honda RTL and obviously Montesa everywhere else, they could field two teams to enter the SSDT and would benefit from either Honda or Montesa winning, although surely Honda must really want a win, to join Yamaha on the list of winners on the trophy.
