Aircooled Monoshocks

Simple, thanks again to thai-ty.

I bought a 44 H TY mono a few weeks back, fixed the igniton and put it in the shed while I finish a TS project, this weeckend I made a few round behind the house to find it very VERY " SLUGGISH " so I took the carb off cleaned it put it back with no improvements. I'm sure the exhaust need's a good cleane up but still I think the carb need's fixing. I have " on the shelve " a new roung slide 26 mm Mikuni ( VM type ), is it a good idea to try it on ? Or am I loosing my time, I know I have to modify the flywheel. but I have to start somewhere. Guy

Hi,I have recently bought a TY250 mono as an introduction into motorcycle trials, I decided to rebuild the bike from scratch and upon stripping the engine it has thrown up some interesting modifications which I hope someone could enlighten me on. The piston is I've been told is an IT 175 at 66.5mm diameter, the rod is different, Its a 214 but possibly same length as standard. The barrel is 10mm shorter than standard and the crank throw is shorter at around 63.5 in length. There seems to be quite a decent porting job in the barrel as well. It also has a lightened flywheel. hi all i have a yam ty 250 mono 84 and a 77/78 twinshock yam ty 250 new to trialing and trying to learn it all what would be the best fuel mix at the moment i am running at 40:1 all info would be greatfully apreaciated cheers mick

I`ve had a pinky for a while and when I bought it had a number plate with a reg but no V5. The seller said it came with a spare mudgaurd on but couldnt remember for sure. As I`ve just sold my roadbike and could do with switching my insurance policy to keep my no claims ticking over I would like to apply for the V5 but is this likely to cause problems. Anyone know of a way of checking the reg with the frame numbers to see if they match. I`ve ran a vehicle check with dvla and it comes back as a 91 yam but thats all.

Having decided to invest in an early mono to compete against the modern bikes in the intermediate class.. where should I put my money.. I fancy a Fantic 305 or the slightly more modern Aprillia climber . Having had neither back in the day, like a lot of people I had a mono yamaha , which way should I jump as I would like something a little different. If anybody has any whys or why nots please feel free... Thanks

On the verge of locating and (hopefully) purchasing a 2nd plastic tank. Anybody own one of Paul @ Shedworks tank shelters for a ty250 mono? IMO they look great, but... Questions; How easy is it to remove for servicing the air filter? Do you remove the shelter and the tank stays in place each time? Or is the rear tank bolt not fitted and the whole thing pivots up at the front? How strong is it? ie can you sit on it, resting, in between sections? Any other opinions? Thanks in advance.

Hi all. Just wondering what year they stopped making twinshocks and started making aircooled mono's. Or did the 2 types overlap for a while?

What is the standard ( front and rear ) sprocket on a 44h TY Mono? The only parts list I find are for 350 cc model, are the sprockets the same on 250 and 350 early Mono? And If anyone would share there experience with different size I would apreciate. Thank you in advance Guy

With the cable disconnected I have maybe 20mm of free play on the clutch arm. Am I right in thinking I need to screw the adjuster on the pressure plate in to remove this free play then back the adjuster off a half turn maybe? The biting point of the clutch is near the end of the lever travel, the friction plates look ok. Is there a stack height for the clutch plates? Cheers.

I bought an 87' model Garelli 323 aircooled mono today, road registered on a "E" reg and only 3 owners from new and even had the original handbook with it. It's in exceptional condition, but isn't sparking?? I think the points need looking at?? i haven't messed with points for about 15 years?? any one care to refresh my memory on the right way to set them up??? And any info on these garellis would be a great help.

its a moto morini engine air cooled with manual clutch and four gears and a backwards kick, crank case inducted with a 14mm dellorto carb, does anyone know the engine model?, looked on various websites like harglo etc but nowt exact it looks like a very early one and i am worried about getting service parts etc, engine no is fgm30*000126

hi i allready own a beta but on sat im picking up a honda i think its a 200 2 stroke mono shock can any body tell me what model it is looked at tlr but seems to be twin shock its old but was riding it on sunday and its very good for its age it has the tank and seat unit all in one and is blue and white not paying a lot for it cheers

I was interested in a cheap montesa 310 (circa 1990ish), however,it has a goosed ignition system, (stator plate etc.u/s ) and according to sandifords, the motoplat parts are pretty much "unobtanium", as motoplat wint T8ts up a good number of years ago. Does anyone out there know of any suppliers of motoplat bits. Also have any of you had one of these bikes, and, if so , what like are they? thanks

I have searched the forum but all posts relating to parts are years old, I have found Joel's site but it's in French. Before I embarass myself with emailing them, does anyone know if they reply in English. I'm mainly trying to track down a rear mudguard and perhaps a set of rings. I only have half of the Mudguard as it has been trimmed short but I could re build the missing part then prep it and take a mould so I can replicate some in grp but I would rather have a good plastic one also. Looking for some advice is the rear shock non remote type interchangable with the type with the remote as my shock is not very good and i have been offered a good shock with remote hopefully this will fit look forward to replies Alan
