I'm having trouble getting this dialled, i always end up with either the not getting the back wheel high enough or when the bach wheel goes a bit higher the front wheel isnt high enough. I have the Ryan Young DVD but finding his technique a bit hard as he talks about a massive upper body explosion of power which i find hard due to a bad shoulder. Watching Dougie do them he seems to hardly use his upper body compared to Ryan, i think Dougie uses his legs more, see here: 3min 36secs http://fwd.five.tv/fifth-gear/videos/other...-dougie-lampkin Anyone have any vids or advice on this.

  3. As per the title... The sort of hill that is going to be 3rd Gear + and lots of throttle and should be fairly easy but requires momentum, but then there's a bump/rock/log/hollow etc. somewhere where you'd want to be at maximum speed. I can see two options, of which the second seems more appropriate but what do you think? 1. Flat out, hit the obstacle as hard as you dare and get kicked or launched and then try to get hard on the throttle on landing. This seems to really kill forward momentum and the bigger the kick, the worse the stall. But it seems the obvious option because... Flat out. Or 2. Approach the kicker and roll off to just cle…

Hi, a popular pro technique now a days is to balance on the rear wheel and hop in place, see in this nice video http://www.photobysergio.fr/jimmy-video-rudolphe.html Anybody on this forum has mastered this and can explain how to go about acquiring the technique? Cheers, Fons.

Hi, I want to buy a new bike Raga 2009 250cc or 300cc and I'm difficult to decide. I started trials in this spring after 6 years in enduro and mountain bike, with a 300 GasGas 2005 Raga. I learn some basic trials tehniques, but for advance tehniques I want to know if 250cc can help me more then 300cc or not. I have 6'2'' and 180 pounds.

Hi, So today I had my 1st ride of any bike with gears it was a bit of an eye opener I got on ok I suppose I just wanted to do the basics start and stop, however I had a bit of an issue letting go of the throttle when my weight shifted back and ending up with the bike in a ditch and me thrown over the bars 😂

  10. Which of the two do you use when making tight turns, figure 8 etc?. When riding on road bikes, I have been always using rear brake only when making slow speed turns, u turns, etc, in order to prevent losing balance if front brake is applied to abruptly. Is it the same with trial bike?

  11. I've been riding bicycle trials for years and now that I'm starting to ride motorcycle trials I'm having trouble remembering to use the rear brake, I keep instinctively grabbing the front brake because it's where the the rear brake on my bike is. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get over it?

Hi guys I think most of you have read a bit of my story, and I appreciate all the help given. I have less than 2 weeks untill my next comp....South African nationals round 3 &4. A 2 day trials in unfamiliar terain. It will be my second comp riding intermediate so im still unsure what to expect but im doing my best to be ready. I would desperately like a top 5 position although I doubt it (will be p!ssed with myself if I dont get top 10). Yes I put pressure on myself but thats what drives me In my less than 2 weeks build up......how should I train? (I know what to work on but what sort of schedule). I have a dodgy shoulder and dont want to flare it up (hopping). Iv…

Hi guys, a bit of a dumb question. ... When do you guys decide to change your tires, front and rear? Im presuming tire condition is more critical on trials so at whT point will tire wear effect your riding (understand this will differ acording to skill level). Thanks

I came across this video and was wondering what this technique is. It looks like half of a double blip. Maybe a zap, but the more I read about the zap VS double blip, the more confused I am as to what the difference is. In this video, Mori-san pops the bike over a log by simultaneously revving the engine and letting go of the clutch. In some attempts there is a small bounce. He does the same thing over a rock. When going over the rock, the faster attempts look like a double blip to me. If you have the patience for videos you don't understand, this channel has some interesting content. Like a demonstration of riding an XT250 Serow up a rock taller than the bike i…

  16. Hi, just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to ride rock sections, similar to sections in the Scottish 6 day trial. or can anyone recommend any good training videos or books on techniques for riding rocks. I just can’t seem to find the rhythm and momentum, I end up clattering through them. Others seem to float over them.

  17. Started by boner,

I've decided to build my lad an obstacle course in our back field for him to practise on his Gas Gas Boy. I've managed to pick up 20 odd pallets and a cable drum so far and going to go to work on them this weekend with a hammer and a saw... Would REALLY appreciate some suggestions for other obstacles to use or build into our course. Thanks - Matt.

I've been riding around this area for years and never thought about how amazing it is until I bought a trials bike. I rode there yesterday and it's about as good as I can imagine. It actually looks even better up close Anyone care to come to Reno and give me some riding tips!

Hello, I'm interested in the proper handle bar positioning, but all I find on the topic is to Position bars so they are in the optimum "middle position." What exactly is that??? Is this having the bars parallel to the forks or is this to have them in a vertical position to the fork angle. thanks, R
