Afternoon all. I have searched for some relevant info on the site but to no avail...so can someone please describe the various trials technique lingo that I happen across reasonably often? Jap Zap? Splat? um....etc? Ta very much. Chris.

Hello. I Just start to jap zap. I want explain what Is for me because I saw that someone call It in a different way: it's when I hit whit front wheel the obstacle, and just After I Quick release clutch ans gas and Jump with bike ans body. The rear wheel it's suppose to hit where the front wheel hit. Now the question is: I saw some video and see two distinct technique in order to have the same final result: the rear wheel Jump from the ground. The difference it's not in the mocement but clutch and trhottle. The First it's like a double blip, and the steps seem to be 1) put the Wheele relasing the clutch and off gas 2) hit the nbstacle …

  4. Hi, I've been riding a road bike for the last couple of years, first a 250cc and currently a 700cc. I have never ridden off-road and would like to have a go at trials. I'm considering selling my road bike and getting a trials bike but would like to have a go first to see if I will enjoy it and actually have any aptitude for it! I am currently looking at an experience day with Trials Day in Leek, Staffordshire but wondered if there is anything closer to home (I live in Hampshire). I've come across Trick in the Sticks in Kent but it's a full £100 more than Trials Day for a full day including bike hire. EDIT: Have just trawled through the last 6 years worth of…

Hi all I have recently bought a trials bicycle to practise balance and improve my fitness. This will be a good laugh to anyone watching, as I'm old, fat and clueless! Still, got to start somewhere. Can anyone recommend any good videos/articles relating to bike trials. In particular, training and techniques. Thanks in advance

Having trouble with downhills... Do you pull the clutch in and just use brakes? Or leave the clutch out and use engine braking? I've been getting conflicting advice from different people, not sure what to do. I find I tend to stall the bike down hill with the clutch out, but my friends say keeping the clutch in will make it more likely to lock up the rear wheel...

Thought I would share this 'top tip' with my Trials brethren which has been helping me recently. If I find my concentration going towards the end of a practice session, I'll start 'self-minding', ie talking out loud to myself about what I should be doing as I'm doing it. Curiously I find it most effective when I adopt a thick Yorkshire accent, specifically that of Martin Lampkin. "Come on Dougie! PerFECT! You've got about two inch. ForWARD!" Etc. it also helps that I practice alone so no one can hear me. Give it a try!

what does this do to your riding? Force you to ride 'straight up'? move your weight forward? and how far is too far? I've been advised to move my bars well forward of the tripleclamp on my '03 Sherco250. I'm not comfortable with this but have been told this is the better to set up a newer bike.

Hi all. I can balance well with the engine off, on full or double pressures. What I struggle with is balancing with the engine on. Especially trying to balance whilst rolling to a stop. I also struggle with full lock turns, I'm not at the point yet where I can stop and balance mid turn. Mags has suggested in another thread to balance with the bike in gear, full lock and use the clutch/throttle to move the bike forward and then to stop and balance again. I've tried, but it's quite difficult. Does anyone have any tips? Why is it harder to balance rolling to a stop? Should you keep your body upright and the bike upright when doing a full lock turn or use the leaning the…
