I've added a thicker clutch plate and dropped the gearing on my sons TXT 50 Boy, which have transformed the little bike but still isnt quite there! I've seen quite a few older TXT 50 Boy' in various trials and they seem to have much better low down power and seem to cope with the low rev tight stuff much better than my sons. I dont like the auto clutch to be honest! It seems like you have to pick the revs up quite high for the thing to bite and start moving at which point it shoots off at quite a rate! I may be exaggerating a bit here but this is to try and explain what is going on. It has improved with time as I think the clutch springs have weakened a bit and the bike…

My son goes for a quick ride in the front yard, endos over the bars, throws the chain and breaks the bike! All this evening and we have a two day event coming up next weekend. The chain wrapped twice around the front sprocket. Removed the shifter and sprocket and all is good? Not. Now a knock from the motor. Ten minutes later, I`m looking at the top hat and all is good which means I have to split the cases in the morning, so much for the 5 other bikes I planned of working on! I`m hoping it`s just the shift shaft or next weekend will be our first missed event this year. Till tomorrow.

At the very beginning I would like to apologize for my English. In my motorcycle, I have a problem with changing from 4th to 5th gear and from 5th gear to 4th gear, if I overgas it, the gear shifts. I've been driving like this for 2 years but now I decided to fix it. Can anyone tell me what could have been damaged?

Hi am I right in thinking that I shouldn’t get a shock from touching my HT lead while my bike is running ? Could this maybe be why it’s a pig to start sometimes ? It’s a 2008 txt pro 280 thanks

  11. As above. Been ripped off on a private sale and bike gave up on my first trial. Great introduction to my new hobby. The questions are, how difficult a job is it to swap crank cases. I am a semi skilled engineer by trade but know little of engine internals. I realise I will need pullers but have also heard something about having to freeze and heat casings? Any links or help mucbh appreciated. Thanks

My bike is an 05 250 Pro. Bought secondhand it has always been a pig to start, especially when hot. Things are slightly better after the following work... Cleaned carb thoroughly, several times. New plug about four rides ago. All fuel filters cleaned (petcock and carb). Rewired and lengthened CDI earth lead as poor wiring at chassis connection. Renewed air filter rubber connection as misshapen with age. At yesterday's Loughborough trial it behaved as is usual - get it up to operating temp, stop at a section to look it over (or queue) and bike won't start. Have to use choke and a big handful of throttle and loads of kicking. Had someone else try kicking and it was…

So is this the beginning of the end for GG UK as we know (have known) it? with Price signing for Vertigo, Thorpe seemingly moving on, Haslam riding Montesa it’s doesn’t look like GG UK will remain for long and it will amalgamate in to KTM UK (makes sense, why would KTM need a UK GG importer?) but seems a shame that any supported riders are having to look elsewhere. is there anything remotely official from GG UK or KTM about what’s happening?

Hi, i have a Gas Gas 300 pro 2009, & since day one when i bought it off Sam Haslam it has done nothing but pink most of the time, i had the carb set up exactly how it is reccomended (according to GG UK), 125 main jet, 45 pilot, 3 slide, JJH needle with clip in the middle, doesn't seem to like that though, it was a bit chokey on bottom end & at one point it sounded like it was nearly completly out of fuel but had half a tank left in, had a look at the plug & it was really black & oily which i presume is a very rich mixture which has created this. I dropped the clip on the needle one down & seems a bit better now but pinking, not when you rev the bike, …
