Hi, this is my first post so I beg forgiveness if I am posting incorrectly. I have recently acquired what I believe to be a Sherpa 199A. It is at present a non-runner and many parts appear to be missing. Does anybody know where I can obtain exploded illustrations or parts lists for this model? I am particularly interested in the rear hub, hub spacers, wheel aligners and the swinging arm spindle areas of the bike. Any help would be very much appreciated

Is the drain plug for the primary oil the bottom center bolt in the side case? My 77 Pursang was that way,but it had a larger flat head on the bolt. This is just a regular allen head. I also need to drain the gear box oil,but after reading previous post on the subject I,m a bit nervous that it will be buggered up.

The 199a I'm restoring has evidence of a cold seizure so a full top end overhaul is in order. I'm looking for any information or advice on conducting a rebore. Not sure if it's a plated bore or if a straightforward rebore will suffice. Any help welcome!

I have replaced badly damaged front rim and chromed hub lining, new brake shoes, new fork seals ,tyre , springs and oil have sorted front end.I am looking for advice please as below. 1.Gearbox refilled with SAE 90, now leaking heavily from drive sprocket seal? or around this area i think! is this a big job to change, most likely point of leakage? 2.Speedo doesnt work, best way to troubleshoot? 3.Swingarm shock absorber mounting fixing cant release one upper allen key fi…

I've made my beat up old 199A my only Trials bike and I'm enjoying riding it. I've had it for years but only ridden, and worked on it occasionally. I'm drawn to the Bultaco because I raced on them when in my prime. I don't want to make it into a modern bike but I think with some upgrades and riding it regularly I can make it work pretty well. Old age and decrepitude have relegated me to a lower class in club Trials and I find a vintage bike makes that move more palatable. I'm considering a couple of changes and would like to hear comments and advice. First, my airbox and side panels are hanging on by a thread. I think I recall seeing 199s with older airboxes a…

I have read that one of the things that they did to help keep the factory bikes in top tune was to keep the silencer properly packed.I don,t see any way to do this unless it was cut open.Is that what they did? I haven,t had mine off the bike yet,but I,m guessing they are talking about the end silencer/exhaust piece and I,m just curious how to repack it if thats possible or even necessary?

The sprockets originally fitted to the 199a all blue 350 were 11/39 with 520 chain but what are you using now, is that combination still the most popular or now considered too high geared?

Hi all, Just rebuilding the back end of my 199A, wheel rebuild, new shocks etc. Bushes & bearings are ok & bought a new spindle because the nut was missing & thread was shot. Question about the rear engine mount. I've got the cast ally one which I would like to keep but the machined faces where they meet the steel bearing look completely buggered so I was planning to have them machined true & square and fitting some stainless shim washers. I take it that the width across the engine mount needs to be wide enough to not allow the bushes to bind when it is all sandwiched together but not to much as to allow the swinging arm to have too much lateral…
