Hi all, I'm interested in buying a Bultaco and was wondering if there is a model year or size that I should stay away from because of mechanical or ..... problems? I understand that they turn like a dream, just what I need where we compete in the Sierra Nevada's (Lake Tahoe area). Thanks for your time. john

Hi guys In my haste to get the rear wheel stripped and rebuilt I neglected to measure the offset. Would be greatful if anyone can let me know what it is.

  5. The carburator of my Bultaco Sherpa T 350, model 199b is retty worn out, the slider rattels around, a lot of whitchpee has left its tracks inside the bowl and the small plastic filters are cracked. Time to get a new carb. I have seen some Bultaco Sherpas, 199A and 199B models in photos from the Spanish Zona Trial and Todo Trial sites, fitted with Dell'Orto VHST carbs. Has anyone did this here in the forum too and have the spec's for jetting? This is the italian atomizer in a picture: Any recommandation or hints? Oh yes, it is a carb with a flat slide!

Dear All, This is more of an information call than a question. I searched the archive for posts on what RAL number Bultaco Blue is prior to powder coating my frame. I couldn't find any threads with the answer. Dave Rentham described it as Ford Electric Blue but I couldn't find a RAL number for that either. So for what its worth the coater and I agreed to spray it RAL 5015 which is the nearest blue we could see to it on the day. Hope that helps someone in the future. Paul Cundy

Hi, just finished pulling apart the clutch and fly wheel (exellent clutch holding tool came from Bult UK yesterday!)) on M80 motor. Does anyone know the correct sizes for the woodruff keys as the ones that came our were decidedly of the home made variety. Cheers

Rebuilt the top end of my 159 engine this weekend but not happy with the fit of the Aluminium thrust washers with the small end. In my spares I have thrust washers with both a large recess and a smaller recess (flange). I assume this fits over the end of the small end bearing which is a single 20mm bearing. On the first couple of fits the gudgeon pin seemed to push the small-end bearing deeper into the thrust washer allowing one of them to fit loosely on the gudgeon pin with no contact on the small-end. Is my reasoning correct that the small end should fit the recess/flange on the washers and that they should both be tight with contact on the small end? This wou…

My Bultaco Sherpa 250cc Model 124 has the original fitment Amal 627 carb which is quite worn. The bike still continues to run ok with it, but I must assume that a better carb would improve things somewhat. The question is though what replacement carb would be most suitable, Amal Concentric Mk1 as now Amal Mk11 as used on the later Sherpa's which I think are stub fitting only Mikuni VM26 I think there is an OKO flat slide available Is there anything else that I am unaware of that may be better than the above, what have you tried and how did it work?

Dear Experts, I'm in the process of restoring a Frontera Mk11 370. I have also done a bit of car racing where ceramic coating of exhausts is done quite frequently. Its said to increase exhaust extraction but the main benefit is reducing under bonnet heat accumulation. Having burnt my inner thigh on my sherpa recently I am wondering whether to get the Frontera exahust ceramic coated. Is this often done on a two stroke? Is it beneficial? Has anyone got experience of doing it? Any thoughts welcome. Regards Paul Cundy

Hi guys, first post here - my name is Chris, and I've been playing with trials bikes for about a year. I've just acquired a Sherpa, model 199 (possibly year 1979? - engine and frame numbers match, but can't remember anything else) which I'm in the process of rebuilding as a winter project. Not going for a show winner, but a good useable twinshock that I won't mind getting dirty. Seem to have 90% of the original parts, give or take what I bin/ruin, and is all going to plan so far, but I could use some advice on a few wee problems (and there will probably be more as I go...) I've just had inserts machined and brazed on to correct oval-ed holes for the swing arm pin, and ha…

What sort of money would I need to spend to get a bultaco 250 twinshock Not to worried about the year or condition as long as its usable I

  16. Started by penno350,

Having a very enjoyable ride out at a local twinshock event yesterday, cut short by some horrible clanging and banging from the engine at the end of Lap 3. Symptoms so far kickstart is solid but I've taken off the clutch cover and that will all spin including crankshaft but if I select a gear the back wheel is solid. Assume it must be a gearbox problem.

  17. On my M91, with the clutch lever pulled in, the engine will not turn over when I push the kickstart down. Is this normal? If not, any ideas on what might be causing it? Just to be clear, the kickstart lever goes down (very easily), but the engine doesn't spin over.

Gents, I've noticed on the bultaco brochures (on Todotrial website) that the model series 124 & 150 have 1315mm wheelbase listed as opposed to 1330mm for earlier Sherpas. Can anybody tell me: 1) is that true - ie did they really have shorter wheelbase? 2) if so what was changed from previous models (M91, M80 etc)? Was it shorter swingarm, steeper rake, less offset on the triple-clamps or what? There is a bit of an explanation on todotrial, but its in spanish & I can't read spanish & it doesn't make any sense attempting to translate with my spanish dictionary or with google translation. Can anyone translate: "gracias a un menor avance de horquilla" Any…
