  2. Started by sherpa,

My 199b runs great when first started but as time goes on performance degrades substantially. By the 3rd loop she is knocking and chattering as if running out of fuel. Let the bike sit for a while and the bike gets better. Carb is original rebuilt and is clean, new points and condenser last year. Any suggestions?

Don't have any spare Mikuni jets so will have to order and they aint cheap so just wondering what is the starting point on jets slide etc. Thanks

  7. Started by big_e,

I am in the process of starting a rebuild of a genuine 199B and need some help in sourcing a couple of parts please. Firstly, any idea where I can get hold of a right hand side cast (forged?) alloy rear brake lever? They used to appear on eBay now and again, but not lately. Secondly, I am also after a curved, oval rear registration plate, the type that follows the contour of the mudguard. I know they are not original fit, but I fitted one to my bike when it was new. I'm blowed if I can find one on eBay or anywhere else for that matter, but a couple of years ago they were quite common. Thanks in advance for any help.

Moving at a snails pace due to time and parts availability but getting there. Thought rims were shot but they polished out, powder coated everything I could. had a new skid plate built, still learning a lot as not everything was as it should be.

Finally finished my 199b restoration. Not for the traditionalists but built to ride in 'modern' twinshock events..... Hope you like it... https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15858619162/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15833432376/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15859245115/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15671718848/in/photostream/ Lots of alloy and titanium, 9Kg lighter than my standard 198a so quite happy. Started really easily so lets see what she handles like in a trial.

I just aquired a Bultaco Sherpa T 199B model thats in need of resto. I had to cut the swingarm pivot bolt off to remove the swingarm. Hammering away at the pivot did nothing except leave me with bent frame mouting tabs where the pivot runs through. Heat didn't work in helping the bolt come out. I would like to know how much play is between the swingarm bushing ends (the steel inserts) and the frame? Could anyone tell me the width between the frame from side to side at the swingarm pivot? If that is a problem, how about the width between the frame and the rear engine mount? Thanks

Does anyone know if some markets possibly got 199B's with top triple clamps without pinch bolts, IE: taper fit. I've seen some conflicting photos, some with pinch bolts and some without. Also some appear with amal carbs and others with bings? Was it possibly Bultaco throwing anything on them before they shut the door?

Im renovating my 199b (which I haven't ridden yet) and Im finding some slight anomalies. The piston has been fitted without the con-rod spacers - this means the rod is floating at the big end and little end (!). I can remedy this but I am confused when looking at the transfer ducst in the crank case - these do not match the barrel and look more like motocross ducts than what I 'd have expected on a trials engine. Se picture on the link below. https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/14179459579/ Any ideas? Have I inherited some pursang cases? The flywheel is the large type and the primary chain is single row so everything else seems to be Sherpa. It has 6 gears. Any…
